This looks like it was designed in the 90s. Where is the scara actuators and the camera guided tool path planning? I'm no expert on patching roads, but this looks like it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of speed, efficiency, and accuracy.
Isn't that what the adhesive spray coating (tack oil) that is applied pre-patch supposed to help prevent? That and leaving a small crown so traffic will add to the compaction of the asphalt mix. I don't patch for a living, so I concede my supposition is not from experience.

The only issue I see here is the joystick. The placement and repetitive moment can cause extreme arm fatigue near the elbow. Over time the user may experience numbness and tingling in the fingers as well as chronic pain in the elbow.
