Oh, my...God. That looks too damn fun. 1:31 around that track in those karts is amazingly fast I would think. It must be a blast to drive those things especially around that track.
Nice video, I came across this while looking for video from the TVS sktrack event at Brands Hatch back in the late 80's. I raced 250 National in the Brit Championships. Just did my first kart race in 25 years two weeks ago. I live in California now, not much long circuit racing out here. John Underdown number 97 210 national and 250 national.
Joy Underdown I had a 250 Rotax 256 twin, with a slightly modified Zip frame assy specially built by ZipKart (and loosely based on the Eagle chassis) for me back in the 80s. Being more than 6 feet tall, the chassis had to be longer, and wider, in order to accommodate my ample frame.. this severely affected the centre of gravity, and the centre of momentum, and didn't handle that well. It would have been lapped had it tried to enter a race. It wasn't compliant with F/E (Div 1) specs, and although I held an RAC (MSA) racing licence at the time, it was only a junior novice competition licence, and I wasn't able to enter or compete in any of the senior classes - regardless of specs. The only experience I gained racing, was during one awful, and expensive season in a 100 TKM Junior class. No decent race results, no success, and I pulled the plug towards the end of the season. That ended my dreams of being an F1 driver! lol. But I loved my Rotax twin, even if it didn't handle ever so well. Awesome kart.
Joy Underdown I am also an ex 250 National person, a bit before your time 🙂 Started with a Santa GP18 in 1966 then a Yamaha TD1C 250 early 1970s. Best instrumentation then was a rev counter & not much else. Stoped racing in 1990.
Ok love watching 80s kart racing thous were the days it was great fun with the people I raced against an mates an whom I worked with in the sport .roy Denis of merlin developments
i know that name,we were all 80.s racers keith but nobody had cameras then , miss the karts ,do you know if chris is still with us i havent seen a word about him in years , i work in fl now but would love to do a historic event in the uk , we had hguge fields in the 80,s not like now
What is the gauge in the far right? Some kind of gforce indicator? Just curious I'm not familiar with kart racing but it looks awesome!!!! Unlike other racing cars nothing is restraining the forces on the neck.. And protection is minimal isn't it!! I think I'd rather race F1s lol. Maybe 30yrs ago I'd have wanted this... Always loved speed.. Unfortunately it's a young mans game... But the cam gives us a taste of what it looks like.. So ty for that!!!
Nice, but missed passing opportunities early on. Needs a bit more front bite and push the front to make corner entry passes. Transitions from braking to accel has too much gap, more hustle required. A gentleman racer, not much mongrel
Whatt part of, "The Kart I was racing is having rear brake problems & Throttle sticking making gear change difficult" didn't you see in the description?
Hi. Tell me, how soon did you get to know super cards in driving? Have you had contact with go-karts right away or maybe chasers and cars? I am asking because I feel this is what I am looking for. A very good race, a lot of overload.
Can someone please say why they don't use electronic paddle shifters? It already has a sequential gearbox so fitting actuators and paddles shouldn't be technically difficult, there must be a rules reason for it?
Some day? I want to do this "every" day. Ken Oath mate. Outstanding footage Waz Mcilveen, Appreciated, thankyou very much. A highly motivational video.
2T 250 rotax, parece que escribió un tío por aquí... igual antaño se refiere (Como mundial 250cc motos 80-90, Circa 100cv, para estos ultraligeros irían de sobra)
It's amusing to see people talk about taking their $250K exotic car to the track when these carts would pass streetcars like they were rolling chicanes. These karts are a great way for racers to get seat time relatively inexpensively.
The driver over revved at least 8 times, great apex angles but poor entry speed and entry line. So much time wasted and I am sure the gearing is wrong.....
@@yeahrightmate Oh shit, I am very very sorry then, I clicked on full screen (so I could appreciate the true sound and effect) and I didn't read any of the comments. I suppose that will teach me.... so sorry guys, don't I feel like a right tool now!!
