SUPERMAN 1978 Facts You Didn't Know!

In an intriguing anecdote from the making of "Superman" (1978), Roger Moore recounted in his autobiography that he witnessed a fascinating phenomenon involving the film's star, Christopher Reeve. Moore observed Reeve walking through the Pinewood Studios canteen in full Superman attire, causing a commotion of adoring female fans in his wake. However, when Reeve donned his Clark Kent disguise and walked through the same canteen, no one even glanced in his direction. Interestingly, this phenomenon mirrors the real-life experience of Harold Lloyd, a famous silent film actor who, when not filming and without his signature round glasses, went completely unrecognized by the public. Lloyd's own experience served as inspiration for the character of Clark Kent, who uses his glasses as a means of concealing his true identity from the public. #shorts #superman #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #supermanlegacy

And we finally get an explanation of how Superman could disguise himself with just a pair of glasses.

Most Superman fans never needed a RU-vid video to get it. His glasses were always genius in relaying the moral of how blind the common people are to something so simple

Early on in the comics, it is said that he has an inherent psychic ability. He’s not aware of it but his sense of wanting to be disguise makes some disguised. Like a super advance camouflage. Simply, I don’t want you to recognize me so I psychically make it where you can’t, but I am unaware that I do the action.

@@005JR8funny thing is that when I took my glasses off at work to clean them, a coworker told me I looked like a totally different person. I think a factor is others seeing the glasses as a part of your face. To them, the glasses are the same as your nose and mouth. Especially if you never take them off. That’s why whenever Lois is trying to figure out if they are the same, she draws glasses on a pic of Superman.

All you need to do to understand how the disguise can actually work is _watch Christopher Reeve's performance._ It's a lot more than just putting on a pair of spectacles; it's a total transformation of mannerisms, posture, body language, and overall demeanor. And Christopher Reeve is the only actor who has ever given a live action performance of Kal El/Clark Kent/Superman and _actually accomplished it._ Every other actor I've ever seen playing him hasn't really done anything to differentiate between Clark and Superman aside from putting on the glasses. For example, there is _absolutely no difference_ between Henry Cavill's portrayal of Clark and Superman, and it basically makes it seem like a joke that no one can tell. Plus in more modern comics, there's the fact that most people don't actually think that Superman even _has_ a secret identity; he doesn't wear a mask like the Batman, he doesn't try to hide his appearance in any way. From the perspective of most citizens of Metropolis, Superman seems to always be everywhere helping people, so it seems to just about everyone like he wouldn't even _have the time_ to have a secret identity or life outside of being Superman.

It has NOTHING to do with Harold Lloyd (who was a wonderful silent star in his own right) and has nothing to do with being "a recognized star" What happened was a testimony to Chris Reeve's remarkable talent and how seriously he took the role. Many people on set commented on how Reeve became someone else when he played both Superman or Clark. He walked differently, held his shoulders differently, his voice changed, different mannerisms, the man was a damn good actor, period. None of the other Superman actors came close to achieving the depth and subtlety of Reeve's Clark Kent. The women simply responded to Chris's power, his physique, and his charm and confidence when portraying Superman, and conversely ignored his weak, insecure presence as Clark Kent, even though he was the same person. That, is talent.

Those that consistently argue that Clark's disguise would never work in real life always comes from a place of already knowing Clark Kent is Superman. We already know the answer so we can see it. But as demonstrated by these stories when we're not looking we're not going to notice. In a city of millions of people he just blends in. Our brains are trained to notice things that stand out. Clark Kent doesn't stand out.

Supposedly, Henry Cavill went to Times Square with glasses on, dressed in nondescript fashion, and was completely ignored; later went out as he usually would, and got a lot of attention. Supposedly Lloyd was also the inspiration for Clark's design in the original comics. Henry Cavill had a similar experience walking around I believe Times Square with a Superman shirt on but he wasn't recognised....supposedly.

To those who complain how stupud Superman's glasses disguise is... IT'S REAL. The only people who would and should recognize are those who spend regular time with both... so mainly Lois and Jimmy. Maybe Lex... but for everyone else, they won't make the connection. Then when you add the fact of how Reeve carried himself as Clark vs Superman.. there are even pictures you can google to see how he did it. The ONLY Superman actor to ever pull it off

Don’t get me wrong, George Reeves did a great job, and Henry Cavill was amazing(and such a good looking guy as well), and I know several others have played them as well, but every time someone says “Superman” or “Clark Kent”, I immediately imagine Christopher Reeve. Heck, he almost looks as if he was the model they used for the old comics!
