Superman & Lois Season 2 Premiere - Angry Review

100% agree that Summer Camp "I kissed someone else" drama is completely unneeded. CW has this weird obsession with tween drama and it's really annoying. This Superman show is the only show i'm even watching anymore. I had to stop with the Arrowverse years ago it just got so bad I couldn't take it anymore. CW is being sold now too. You would think they would get the memo that nobody likes this crap. Ughh... so frustrating.

As soon as John's girlfriend came back home, wearing no makeup, and smiling at the Black girl.. you KNEW the queer baiting was coming. I started hearing that Hamilton soundtrack song - "Wait For It".

When Angry Joe looks as disappointed as a father over his son wrecking his car, you know you done messed up.

Feel bad for Joe. Can tell he’s a hardcore DC fan and to see things like Marvel and Star Wars get the right investment when DCs just as big must be frustrating for the fans

The show should be called "Lois & Family featuring Superman"

Doomsday still has his suit he had on when he first landed that's why it looks weird just like in comics but I hope it's the evil superman that's why he's having headaches lol

I remember the build up for DD in Smallville was actually pretty good. Then he became DD and everything ended super fast and badly

feels kinda weird that joe is such a big supaman fan and he hasnt seen smallville, you'd think that would be the biggest of his supaman priorities.

A smarter writer would have cut most of these subplots and zeroed in on the fact that it was a nuclear submarine he saved but not made it all about why he didn't deliver it to the hands of the U.S. This could have turned into an actual Superman plot about what kind of effect he has at large just by doing what he does with good intentions. He saves a nuclear sub that was in waters it shouldn't have been in. The other 1st world powers had no idea it existed, let alone it was on a mission. Just by saving it and its crew he accidentally exposes the military activity of an entire nation so what do the likes of say, the U.S., Russia, and the United Nations do? Rather than get in Superman's face about where he delivers the sub, its contents, and crew, commend his heroic actions publicly while calling into question the very existence of the sub in the first place, putting the pressure on the nation of its origin rather than Superman. Now Superman's almost worse off because just by doing his heroic deeds he's raised international tensions and now we have a story about where his place in the world falls. But I'm sure we're all more anxious to know who that one chick is texting.

We had a show called "Smallville" which did focus on Clark and his friends - people in Smallville. New we have a show called "Superman and Lois" and as Alex said, Superman is taking a backseat while Smallville drama take center stage. Worst, they had a great option for Zod still lingering in Clark's subconcious but they just had to mess that up. Killing possible momentum in ep2 does not bode well for what's to come.

Why is Lana going into politics a storyline? That has nothing to do with Superman. (and Lois) The guys are right, CW wants to make this a drama show for everyone.

As I'm not the target demographic, I don't expect much from the CW. I also believe that they have to limit the plots for "superman" because of the expense of CGI. I'm still pissed that Swamp Thing didn't get a second season for HBO Max.

Clearly the downfall of this show will be that it's a CW show and I know they've been fighting that since the first episode of the first season. Unfortunately the CW is like a virus and eventually it will infect the show pulling into a sickness of mediocrity, pointless romantic melodrama and overall bad writing. I think I'm going to wait this one out and based on the verdicts at the end I might give this show a watch.

I skipped through every scene with Lois and John and every scene involving John’s daughter. Just awful.

I don’t know what the showrunners were thinking. I think they wanted to do another Smallville and so the drama with Sarah is fine but this is a bad start for Season 2.

The problem is the CW. They have great IPs but their obsession with inserting annoyingly large amounts of love drama in EVERY single superhero show they produce will be their downfall. They ruined all their arrowverse shows this way. Shitty love drama, bad character development for many important characters and their fixation with doing 20+ episodes a season is the reason most of what they produce is shit.

I will never waste my time on a cw show. But it's fun to see this discussion.

I dont understand why the new general was upset Superman didnt bring the nukes to America. If Superman chooses a side, wouldnt that escalate nuclear tensions between nations?

I think John and his daughter and the two sons bring the show down, the less time with them on screen the better imo

They’re showing signs of more teenage drama and i fucking CALLED it. Every single promising CW show ALWAYS does this later with the shows. Flash, Arrow, even Supergirl which was already cringe in the early seasons, just got UNBEARABLE later

I really freaking HATED the fact that they made the other Jordan’s girlfriend Bi in-between seasons. I get that they want to have some short of representation of that group but they not only have other shows to watch for that (heck even RIVERDALE would’ve been a better show to watch for that kind of stuff), but they got a whole COMIC that’s features a bisexual Superman now! There was just no need for them to screw the kid over like this by having his girl go a different way and making their relationship more rocky by making her more hateable!🤦🏾‍♂️

Clark saving the North Korean sub shows that he truly cares about everyone.

I'll be honest, I haven't been a fan of the past 2 eps for season 2... they were just ok at best for me... I am seeing the cracks in the show already, but other people insist it's as good as the previous season... I disagree. The show is clearly leaning more into drama, and less Superman stuff, and less actual resolution... while season 1 had its fair share of drama, they managed to resolve it quickly and still have a sense of hope and optimism and family... now i feel just lingering drama for sake to fill space. Superman saving the North Korean Submarine was the best part of the premiere and that's about it. 2nd ep they are teeing up for Doomsday from what I hear... I am skeptical the show can pull it off in a satisfying visual sense when I think about how I was disappointed with last season's finale.

Someone needs to tell these guys that they´ve already done Lobo in the SyFy´s Channel Krypton show that nobody watched. It sucked

I don't really believe Joe when he says he's a superman fan because from what I'm hearing, he doesn't give a fuck about the Clark Kent aspect of his life which is the human aspect, Clark Kent gives Superman his humanity and makes him that much more of a compelling character. It can't be all action and explosions, which would get boring real fast. and while there are boring aspects of this show, I love the Kent family, yes even Jordan, who has quickly grown on me

"I never saw much of Smallville" - AJ, self proclaimed Superman Fanboy Smallville isn't exactly a masterpiece but it's a great show, a show where even me as a non Superman fan enjoyed watching whenever it came on

I feel like expecting any modern media to do good with our classic heroes is just delusion at this point. Don’t wonder if they will ruin the things you love, just expect it and if for some strange reason they don’t, we’ll then that’s a win I guess.

CW shows be like: *Villain beats hero or hero messes up* "*Insert Hero's Name* we need to talk." *Support cast being cheerleaders* *Hero gets power up boost* Rinse and repeat.

I'm excited for what they are teasing but it has been a slow burn, I think it's setting things up before the action. As if they holding back the money and teasing us. Gonna give it the benefit of the doubt, before writing off yet.

It annoyed me that Lois was angry at Clark for saving the world. Youve been together 20 years you are supposed to have dealt with that part of your relationship long ago. Clark has responsibilities over his son kissing a girl fully clothed

The strange thing is that the old Lois and Clark show managed to have enough actual action to keep fans invested, yet also managed to have compelling drama alongside it, even the cheesy romance stuff. This, apparently, while the two leads actually hated each other. Heck, Smallville manged to do it without even having him be Superman...oh well...

I disagree. Its in the title. Not a superman solo show. U want that then watch smallville. Its cool how he is hindered to human problems. Not only that, they make everyone have meaning to this show. This is a superman CW family show. Take it like that, not a movie or comics.

So, this is going to sound crazy but I feel like they canceled Blacklighting because they wanted to reskin the show with Superman & Lois.

As a Smallville fan, I really enjoy the series and I wish CW would have continue using characters like Tom Welling, Michael Rosenblum, and Alison Mack leading into Superman & Lois

I accepted that it's a drama about Superman's family. I don't hate it. I think most fans want something like the animated Superman show from the '90s or the comics pre-2000.

This was a great season opener. It doesn’t portray the whole government as bad which is good just a man who got that position. Also it doesn’t portray Lois in the beginning of the episode Liking Natalie upfront I think that would’ve been a bad rain choice if they did it that way because no human reacts like that especially in that world. And Superman was great in this season opener I loved it

The problem with the Truth, Justice and the American Way stuff is that, if you’ve been paying ANY attention to who’s writing Marvel/DC comics these days, they did not do it to globalise him. They absolutely did it as a slight against the US as they see it (Intersectional nonsense and that the American Way needs to be ‘fixed’). I’m British FYI so have no skin in the game in that respect. I just despise the people who have driven US comics into the ground.

Angry Joe in Superman outfit, sitting in his chair at the fortress of solitude, is so meta. Exactly what Superman needs, like thus us a better Superman show than what DC has been making. The corner cutting the CW is taking is super lazy and undecided. Like, why try to make a teen family show if you're going to interject epic battle arcs in a grounded teen moral high drama family show? Ehhh why not make a superman film and naturally have Lois in it 🙄

Going into to the show I really thought I’d hate the family aspect but that dynamic is actually the most entertaining part for me. I think the show is solid but it’s not even close in quality to early seasons of the flash, arrow, smallville, or peacemaker. Not my least fav DC show but I see a lot of people overrating it

America vs superman isn't crap its realistic and you can understand why it could happen

I stopped watching the CW around when Supergirl Season 2 or 3 was out, and Flash Season 4 or 5 (approximately) was driving me nuts. I decided I'd stop watching all CW tv shows and never go back. I haven't missed their shitty writing team since then.

Honestly when done right family drama can be REALLY compelling like with Encanto or In the Heights but that has to come from GENERATIONAL issues piled onto the newer generation who's like "Tf is this shit?" trying to figure out how to deal with it and fix it before it tears the family apart. Or with the character drama from Avatar the Last Airbender it stems from the age old trope of "Do this before time runs out" so that creates issues upon issues, but it's done in such a good way that it feels fresh enough that you don't mind the trope. Or with something like superheroes, a family drama can indeed come from the family not knowing who their kid actually is, and with Miles that works cause his father is LITERALLY a cop with a thing against vigilantes considering he's part of the system, thinks the SYSTEM should work on criminals. But when it's drama for drama's sake that's when I check out.

I hope Superman never gets his recognition this era

I like the idea of the show, and I watched the first season and was totally disappointed. Like Joe, I really like Superman, but the reason they don't have very much Superman doing his thing is because their graphics team is completely outclassed. The CG at the end of season 1 was completely terrible. It looked like a high schoolers graphic design portfolio.

Thing to remember about "Smallville" though is how the writers were threatened with termination if they ever referred to Clark as "Superman".

I'm still enjoying the series, both the Superman and the human elements. I feel you're a bit harsh on it because of the human elements, but it can't all be Supes and nothing else!

CW F***ing did it again. They just can’t help putting drama in every single character and every damn moment. I couldn’t even finish the first episode when they started mentioning “Build Back Better”. Enough politics!!!!

I personally like this season premier of Superman and Lois and the fact we are getting doomsday on this show is very interesting and does open the door for so many things to come which I am very intrigue on what's going to happen next.

OJ always sounds so spaced out

The 3rd ep dropped last night and it was much better than the first 2 eps but the character drama can still be annoying and some dialogue can sound really bad... if you cannot get past that, drop the show right away because that is a FEATURE of the show, not a diversion... this show has repeatedly said it is NOT a Superman centric show focusing on his Heroic exploits... it was always a Family Drama first starring Superman and Lois. If you want to complain for sake of hating and complaining, go ahead and yell into a black hole.
