Superman Rebirth: Superman Lois & Clark Conclusion

I love how Lois continues to call Clark 'Smallville'.

Just read the first issue of the Batman-Flash crossover. I can see Rob in a few weeks like, "Lemme tell you something, RobCorp!"

Jonathan Kent is the best thing to come out of rebirth in my opinion. He is a fun interesting character who has also made superman different. He's turned into a father figure not just for Jonathan but for all other DC heroes. He's the older wiser guy to ask advice from. And I love that about rebirth. Jonathan is exciting and he's fresh and it's also made superman a fun character again too. Him being a dad and having a different perspective is just so much fun. I love reading him help his son figure out who he is and what he is capable of. It's just such a refreshing joyful thing to see superman being a dad first and Formost and seeing his son embrace being supermans son. I've enjoyed it more then anything else so far during rebirth.

You're actually the first one who have actually pointed out just how high Lois is on Superman's priority list. Me and a couple of my friends have been kinda debating as to how important Lois is to him. They just wouldn't believe Superman would let someone die if Lois needs to be rescued. I'm actually glad that it's being pointed out a lot now in other forms of media. Injustice for example pointed just how important Lois is. Even Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice has pointed that out when the Flash warned Bruce about her being the key.

I'm friggin loving Superman Rebirth. I can't wait for Jonathan to grow up.

Hey Rob I think you are right about Wally West being from pre new 52 I'm looking at it right now and superman says to Wally "well you're faster than I remember" and Wally says "Long story short, the point is, you remember me from a before that never existed" Wally would not have said this if he is from the new 52 that's just how I interpret it I know some would disagree but I really do feel like Wally is from the pre new 52 universe. Also superman and Wally have a conversation about him (Wally) and Linda the conversation seems natural like they both know each other before the reboot

So you made a comment in this video that Wally West is in fact a New 52 version and that got me thinking, which in turn gave me a headache. I'm an older guy who recently got back into comics because of The Flash TV series and this channel. So I've been doing a lot of catch up, but there are so many issues with timelines and universes that I'm losing it. So I'm going make some comments and maybe someone can tell if I'm off base or help sort this out. At the end of Flashpoint, Barry returned to the correct timeline and gave a letter to Batman from his father. Somewhere between that conclusion and the start of the New 52 that timeline was altered, possibly by Doctor Manhattan. The New 52 picks up 5 years after superheros became public and formed the Justice League. In the New 52 we got a new Wally West who was biracial and had a different backstory. There was no mention of the Pre New 52 Wally. This is evidenced in the Future Flash story line where Barry Allen from 20 years in the future starts traveling backwards in time to prevent the death of New 52 Wally. So looking at that roughly 25 year window by way of the Future Flash there is no Pre New 52 Wally West. Pre New 52 Wally reappears in Rebirth and gets Barry Allen and the Titans to remember him. This Wally remembers Flashpoint, his history with the Titans, and even his marriage to Linda Park. However for some reason he doesn't know the Pre New 52 Superman who like Wally has memories of a different timeline. So now two things have happened here that explain Pre New 52 Wally somewhat. One is that Abra Kadabra wiped everyone's memories of Pre New 52 Wally West and the other is that apparently 10 years of history have been removed from the timeline. In one of your videos you explain that you think DC is trying to say that the New 52 isn't so much a new universe as it is a heavily edited version of the universe that Barry Allen should have returned to after Flashpoint so that a lot of the continuity of the Pre New 52 stories still exists somewhere out there, it's just no one can remember them. The thing that really doesn't make sense is where did the 10 years go? Everyone in Rebirth as a result of the New 52 are younger versions of themselves as noticed by the Pre New 52 Superman. So one could say that 10 years were taken off the end. So in the DC Universe they are sort of living in 2007 when it is really 2017 which would explain why they are younger. However things like the Bat Family existing in the New 52 or the Titans being adults doesn't make any sense. If we were 10 years in the past then the Titans should still be the Teen Titans. If everything happened in only 5 years then all of the Robins would have only been with Batman for about a year a piece. So then what if the 10 years were taken out of the middle somewhere? This would explain things like the Bat Family and the Titans. There is a whole 10 year history that's already happened, it's just no one can remember it. If that's true then why are people like The Flash and Batman younger than Pre New 52 Superman remembers? Are we saying that the alterations that were made not only removed 10 years of history somewhere in the middle, but also did things like make Barry Allen younger than he should be, but also make the Bat Family and the Titans older than they should be if 10 years were gone? It seems like the explanations just don't fit and the only conclusion I can come up with is that DC is saying that someone didn't just erase 10 years so to speak, but rather went through everything and just changed small things from all over the place and removed a little time here, a little over here, and and kept some people the same age and made some younger. So instead of just removing a piece of cake someone took a spoon and just carved out small bites from all over the place at random. It makes no sense that both Superman and red haired Wally would remember the same timeline, but Wally wouldn't remember him and Superman would remember Wally. For me it would have been simpler to say that Wally West was in the Speed Force when Dr. Manhattan did what he did and that both protected him from the alterations, but also somehow trapped him because his place of origin didn't exist anymore. When he came out he should have remembered everything including Superman and just been a Pre New 52 version. When Wally shocked people into remembering him they are simply getting visions of the unaltered timeline. The addition of the Abra Kadabra story seems to only complicate something, that could have been easier to understand. But that doesn't fix things like where did the 10 years go and people's ages in conjunction with that, but whatever. I'm sorry this so long. I guess the part that was driving me nuts is that if red haired Wally like you say in this video is a New 52 version then he came into existence as part of the New 52 universe and at some point Abra Kadabra set out to erase him from the world. That would have been fine if he was a young version of Kid Flash and had never married Linda Park, but that all gets muddled by him knowing about Flashpoint and his marriage and even the old Teen Titans lineup which never happened according to the New 52 so if he is a New 52 version why does he have the memories of a Pre New 52 version? Aarrgghh! That's enough griping from me. I love your channel. Keep up the good work!

I am not financially able to buy any comics at all so you and Benny aka comicstorian are my connection to the comic universe which I have always been a huge fan of! I always loved comics and super hero's from all the different companies I was born in 1982 so I grew up through out the late 80's and 90's and me through the 2000's and here was a lot of great stories in that time and now they are getting even better so I am in a great debt to you for doing these videos they help me escape reality to a place I greatly enjoy and cherish so again thank you very much and please keep up the amazing work with the videos and reviews you do an amazing job Rob and I am a proud member of the Rob corps!!! When Wally West entered the New 52 he became a part of it as if he was always there because the other Wally was a different character all together who was his cousin of the original, With Superman; there already was a New 52 Superman and Lois, so when Post Crisis Superman and Lois enter the new 52 they become merged with their New 52 counter part to become part of that reality, do you think this is an apt analysis Rob?

+Comics Explained Rob, you mentioned how this seemed like Jurgens wrote this as a 12 issue series. If I remember correctly Superman: Lois & Clark, Titans Hunt and Telos were all originally solicited as 12 issue series but were cut short because Rebirth happened quicker than they expected. Telos only had 6 issues and the last panel of Titans Hunt showed a lightning strike that was White Wally first escaping the Speed Force leading directly into DC Rebirth #1.

Can you do a video on a character analysis of each person through the different time periods. Comparing for example golden age superman, pre new 52 superman, new 52 superman, etc. just comparing character traits. It would help us understand the differences between reboots and such for characters

I'll call it... 'pre-52' Wally is actually a pre-crisis Wally and Superman is post-crisis or new earth. Explains why Wally is younger and still thinking of himself as a kid flash and can remember Linda but not their kids... and a Superman from new Earth or even Earth 1 after infinite crisis would recognise Wally as the guy who took over from Barry

Like how you do the whole story and show pic telling thing just reminds me of the days when my family would read me all comic books when my other favorite things was the what ifs the Kryptonite from the pre 52 Superman with New 52 Superman and stuff like that and amount of question is could The New 52 Superman go into the old pre 52 Superman and universe in things vice-versa like that and the only other thing is I think I'm opening whole new can of worms on this the problem is there so many freaking variables exam and it's fun to play with the idea the possibilities in endless and it's like having a blank slate with certain guidelines to get by which I like because how far of outside box can you go

I love this Lois just because she's such a MOM. It's not just something in the background like with so many characters. Not to say it's the defining thing in her life or any kind of misogynistic degradation of her character, it's just PART of her character. It feels natural. Same with Superman, though he's kind of written to where his family IS his entire world and he's only just moving out of that to reclaim the mantle. It's not like with Batman where they brought in Damien and instead of everybody saying, "Batman has a son?!", the reaction was more, "There is a new Robin?!".

Rob, you remember the "Superman returns" movie... So is the Pre-New 52 Superman based on elements of that character as far as how they've been soft rebooted during New 52? That movie even had Jonathan Kent in it. I remember being confused watching that movie like "Superman never had a son"! I was even confused as to what the reason why Superman had to "return" in the 1st place.

All that changed when Superman Reborn. Basically he merged pre-Flashpoint WITH the New 52. The Mew 52 is a reborn of the pre-Flashpoint anyway, it's the pre FP is like a hidden memory that's locked away, and Superman basically unlocked some of them. At least it appears to.
