Lana loves Clark for who he is before he even tells her his secret. But she knows he’s meant for more, to be more so she lets him go. It’s bittersweet but beautiful, sometimes you can’t be the One but still be a rock for them
I’m so glad you love Btas and Stas. I hope you can plow through some more Superman episodes so that you can get to a 3-parter called “World’s Finest.” I can’t wait for your reaction to that.
"Lana Lang" Of Superman's Lore, Lana Lang is (sometimes) one of the most overlooked characters in several classic adaptations (she features prominently in the Smallvile TV series, though; and yes, she was in the first episode of the series, briefly), that's why many people don't think much about her. But during his Smallvile days (there are hundreds of comics covering those years) Lana wasn't only a love interest, but an unlikely and a very loyal one: while many people find dumb that nobody figures out who Superman is in Metropolis and worldwide... Lana Lang and a few other loyal friends in Smallvile have made that discovery on their own, and they have kept their mouths shut by choice, not inspired by the superhero powers, but out of loyalty to Clark Kent (even after all these years). It's a contrast I love between Superman in the big city and as a world figure, and Superman in Kansas. By the way: for you consideration (and without spoiling anything), keep in mind editing for RU-vid "The Late Mister Kent" when you get to it. "L. L., L. L. everywhere" Welcome to the "L.L." trend XD. And it doesn't stop there: Lex Luthor, Lori Lemaris (a mermaid love interest for Superman that's not featured here), Lucy Lane (Lois' sister)... comics loved aliterations in those years and the world of Superman can't escape from them now (Luthessa Luthor, Lena Luthor...). Now it's your turn to make everything around you M.M. based, Meg Mage XD. And that's it, nice reaction and see you in the next one.
Definitely a rare thing for Lex to care about anything besides power and himself. That also fuels his vengeful wrath when he learns that Lana is taking advantage of him.
Lana was one of the lead characters on 'Smallville'. "L. L." has long been a thing with Superman stories. Lois Lane; Lex Luthor; Lana Lang; Lori Lemaris (college girlfriend and mermaid); etc.
You should check out the lois and clark tv series. The animated series focuses less on the romance aspect and more on the comic book style fights. If you want a story with a little more romance you will love the lois and clark tv series.
Clark has a very good muscle control that he can change his physic. The glasses play a small roll as well tiling his eyes slightly. He is also able to change voices due to absolute muscle control. These characteristics are only available in the Christopher Reeve superman. The writers never focus on the both of these aspects like Bruce Wayne and batman.
tbh imo Erica Durance is the best live action Lois, her version is very similar to the STAS Lois, she was my favorite live action Lois growing up next to Teri Hatcher
@@MalikBarrow16 I'm worried it may be the last. I hope not. Also Jonathan got a new face. That's gonna be a lil weird to get used to but I understand the previous actor quit for sake of his own mental health and I respect his decision.
@@carn9507 I share that concern, all the shows have been getting cancelled. Seems like that universe of shows on CW is ending for good, but they're also dropping that terrible looking Gotham Knights show... so I dunno what they're thinking tbh
I neglected to mention her in my comment. I'm glad someone did. Yes, she's great as Lois. Someone also mentioned Teri Hatcher from Lois and Clark. Another good portrayal of Lois
There are a lot of Superman's love interest that have the initials L.L. In the comics there are Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lori Lemaris (A mermaid and Superman's 1st true love) ,Lyla Lerrol, Luma Lynai. Of course there is also Lex Luthor and his sister Lena. Lena is never mentioned in the animated show if she even exist in this version but appeared on the Supergirl TV show and was of course in the comics long before that. Lois has a sister Lucy Lane who pops up every now and then in the comics And of course Kal-El's mom (birth mom) has the initial L.L. Lara Lor-Van (Kryptonian women keep their father's name as surname even after marriage.) Just to name a few.
You see we Lana Lang fans love her because she actually loves Clark & did so in the beginning before he became Superman,Lois just loves Superman....at least that's the way it was for many years in the superman mythology. A woman who knows & loves you at your weakest, most flawed & insecure point, is a woman who deserves your love back🤷
Well, at least in Post-Crisis continuity, Lois actually fell for Clark instead of Superman. In fact, she didn’t even learn that Clark was Superman until they were already engaged.
agreed....and the way Meg instantly turns on people. Lana called that bigger woman a "fashion-disabled Amazon"....and Meg immediately didnt like her lol. Would that we could all be so tame, almost complimentary, with our insults when we're being kidnapped and thrown around.
Comic book writers like alliterative names. They're easy to remember. Peter Parker, Matt Murdock, Susan Storm... Probably the most romance-focused episode of the series. Clark is one thing, but you rarely see Lex show genuine affection for anything besides power. Also interesting to meet someone who knew Clark growing up besides his parents.
I... kinda understand where Lex was coming from on this one. He seemed to genuinely care for Lana, as much as a guy like him can care for a person who isn't an employee. He was actually thankful that Superman, the guy/alien he despises more than anyone else in the world, was there to rescue her when he wasn't. I don't think that he'd have felt that way even if he saved his own life. As for having her watched? Yeah that reads as possessive but seeing as she was recently almost abducted, it seems a little prudent. When he learned that she never really cared for him but was trying to destroy his criminal enterprise and help get him arrested, you could see that he was legitimately hurt. Lex doesn't strike me as a guy who places much trust in people, so when he actually does and gives Lana the benefit of the doubt and is proven wrong. Well, if he had trust/control issues before... I just do not like Lana in this episode, using someone's feelings to get close to them and destroy them? That's what villains do.
So Lana was created in the 50s to be basically a stand-in for Lois in the Superboy comics, which were about Superman when he was a teenager. She was popular enough that she later showed up as an adult in the Superman comics, where she was always competing for Supes' attention with Lois. They were basically the Betty and Veronica to Clark's Archie. Funnily enough she never figured out Clark's secret identity, even after they grew up. When Superman was rebooted in 1986, his backstory was rewritten so that he was never Superboy, though he did still date Lana, and in this continuity he DID reveal his powers to her, making her the only person besides Ma and Pa Kent who knew Superman's secret identity. Unlike the older comics, this version of Lana became good friends with Lois and later was a sort of mentor to Supergirl. I don't know much about what happened to Lana after Superman was rebooted AGAIN in 2011, except that she was apparently Superwoman at some point!
Lana is a small town girl in a big city. Lois is a city girl and has been for yrs even before superman. So of course superman will lean towards Lois more. Same reason batman leans more to catwoman than other women by comparison. It's the strong independent types they like.
This version of Lois is great. My other faves are Margot Kidder, Erica Durance and the current TV Lois, Elizabeth 'Bitsie' Tulloch, who has performed some fantastic emotional scenes in Superman & Lois.
Another fantastic episode. This is the first episode of the series where the art style really does lend to the overall sexy vibe of this episode. It’s also great to see someone from Superman’s past interact with him in the present. And Lex Luther really does showcase his villainy well in this episode. What’s more dangerous than a possessive billionaire?
I'd say the closest Lois to this adaptation is Elizabeth Tulloch who portrays her in Superman & Lois, which is definitely my favorite live-action Superman story. Lana is also in the show and she's a lot more likeable.
You've been watching more of Superman's animated series. for your next animated movie reaction you should check out "Superman: Doomsday". The movie and animation style is based on the animated series.
If you like the animated series you should definitely watch the new adventures of Superman live action tv show from the 90’s. It’s practically a live action version of the animated series:)
the Lois is decent in that but the Superman is pretty smug and...well... Dean Cain's kinda problematic. Known to be a bit of a bigot. Not really suitable for Superman.
Margot Kidder was pretty good back in the day, but Dana Delaney is my favorite version of Lois Lane (she’s PERFECT), Erica Durance is also a pretty good Lois (and is my second favorite).
lol Telling Lex Luthor to not be possessive. Doesn't look like you've watched it yet, but Lex and Mercy's backstory is explained in another episode with Brainiac.
With Mercy I think it's mostly overprotective & strong bond, but I wouldn't be suprised if she did have some feelings for Luthor. Though it won't end well, you'll see...
Yeah Lana Lang was a good girl Clark dated back in Smallville, before he became Superman moved to Metropolis and met Lois Lane who's a lot more of a strong badass fearless alpha woman than Lana is. Lois is more his type cause she comes from a military family after all and she never panics like Lana did either.
Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor… yeah, Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster were nothing if not alliterative. As for interpretation, Lana is in Superman III played by the same actress who will play Martha Kent in Smallville, so there is that for interpretation. Glad you are enjoying Supes, more to come.
Hi, could you make separate playlists for all your Batman: The Animated Series reaction videos and for all your Superman TAS videos? I would be grateful ❤
My favorite Clark will always be Christopher Reeve from the first Superman movie but even tho this series takes a few notes from the movies Lois Lane here she feels more dynamic probably because even to she it’s being setup as a love interest they have more of a flirty friendship and that make them very fun to watch
If you watch Smallville you will know about Lana Lang she loved Clark so much she sacrificed every thing for him went through insane amount of hardships just to be with Clark.
