Could Superman 64 be the worst Superman game ever made or is it this? #Superman #DC #Xbox #Gaming #VideoGames #SupermanManOfSteel #ManOfSteel #JustBadGames #Rerez #DCcomics #SupermanTheManOfSteel
@@highpineapple trust me it had a movie made in 2007 I believe featuring Peter Dinklage and Alec Baldwin no wonder I forgot about it the movie is hilariously bad at times and I generally could not get through it without cringing it was locked in the very deep crevice of my mind until you guys brought it up.
I bought a copy of super man 64 for a livestream and about an hour into the livestream the n64 cartridge over heated and basically fried itself destroying the game making it unplayable. I have never seen an n64 game do that before. It was hilarious. A game so bad that it committed suicide live on camera to save itself from my criticisms.
Hmmm... Strange. I actually wanna know why, there's games that pushes the hardware without a hitch, yet a game with low graphics like this toasts itself. Edit: I can safely say that it didn't want exist anymore XD
It knew how much criticism its had to endure over the years about how terrible it is, that it couldn't take it anymore so decided to kill itself. I assume yours won't be the 1st or last copy to do that as i'm sure the game is just done with being criticized at this point.
What was that game drake of the 99 dragons or something like that. Horrible broken janky piece of crap also based on a DC comic also an Xbox only exclusive. For all the Xbox great to good exclusives it had, it sure did have a lot of forgettable crap.
I thought your Batman impression in the Dark Tomorrow review was hilarious, but arrogant Superman is on a whole other level of hilarity and I need more of it in my life.
@@Xehanort10 Maybe she sounds apathetic because she's been captured so much before that she doesn't care as much anymore because she knows Superman will save her? That, or maybe the actress just doesn't care about her performance? Or, maybe, she's reacting like that BECAUSE she's married to The Man Of Steel, so she's not worried. You know?
Between this and Aquaman's underwater hair physics, what is it with terrible comic book games having unusually high polish on things that don't really matter in the long run?
"Super sloppy in places" might be the understatement of the century.I think a pig rolling around in mud at a buffet bar would be less sloppy than this game!
I think I still have that very magazine somewhere hahaha. It's there that I first learned about this game and the one on the PS2 based off the Animated Series.
3:32 - I've said this before, games developers: leave the right analog stick alone to its happy little world of controlling the camera. You force it out of its comfort zone, and it's just going to piss on the bus seat and ruin the whole field trip.
@@mischiefthedegenerateratto7464 Seriously. I just love how these games are based on comics you would have had to read to have any understanding of the plot. Absolutely brilliant.
@@mischiefthedegenerateratto7464 Or learn that flying a helicopter is terrible. I mean yikes! Makes me wonder what happened with that Superman game for the 360 (and I think PS2?!) I mean that game was completely ignored.
7:29 Superman’s cautionary rambling while he’s haphazardly carrying the tower had me full-on wheezing! I didn’t even hear what he thought of the controls. Another hilarious scene was when he shouted “NOVACANE HASN’T WORN OFF YET!” when criticizing Jimmy. These guys are hilarious!
Mistah MegaManFan If there's any development studio out that I think would make a good stand alone Superman game it would be RockSteady since they would know what would work and what wouldn't work in a superhero theme game since they had great success with Batman in past with their three games in Arkham franchise.
Honorable Mention 1:55 Batman: I'm a reference 3:19 Oooooow 4:12 Lois I need my fly-agra 4:22 Look lois I'm running like people 5:08 Why do I need to punch things? Haha I'm Superman 12:08 Plot explain by superman 12:23 Steel: We're not friends 12:35 Steel: This is a symbol of hope! (Wet fart) You literally have the same symbol on your- 12:57 Steel:We're not friends! 13:20 "I'm a robot version of you and I'm so angry because-" so I punched him
@@mysticmind4563 Eh, close enough. And when I say close enough, I mean close enough, not Bizarro's version of close enough, where everything he says means the opposite of what people are ACTUALLY saying to him, but thanks for the info anyways, dude/lady. And I do actually mean thanks.
There's actually an 80s Superman game (also called Superman The Man of Steel) for DOS that's actually worse than Superman 64. And it might be as bad as this one.
@@augustwest5356 But the one I've mentioned (especially the DOS version) IS worse than Superman 64. Maybe one day I'll record it and upload it on my channel.
@@DarkwyndPT I'd watch it! I'd love to get a decent superman game, but failing that I'll enjoy watching other people review the dumpster fires he ends up in.
If someone had the skills, they could remaster this, remove the busy work to an extent, rework the controls and maybe add some depth to the story with some comic screens.... The foundation seems solid. The building on top be fallin' down though.
@DejaVoodooDoll Eh, those games were par for the course NES garbage. Everyone was doing it. Rare made Beetlejuice. Superman 64 was undeniably the result of obscene amounts of executive meddling. Would it have been good if Titus had been given full control? Eh, maybe. Probably not. Most developers had far too much ambition for what that era of consoles could actually feasibly do and the way 3D games would work hadn't yet been mastered outside platformer/collect-a-thons. Remember, this is the same era of gaming that gave us the controls for Metal Gear Solid, an absolutely amazing game where half of the difficulty is navigating the controls. Imagine playing MGS1 with MGSV controls. Wouldn't even be a challenge. So, it's theoretically possible that it could have been a good game, but given that the character has never had a good game made, is hard to make a good game about and the deck was stacked against them, at best it would most likely be unremarkable, just like most 3rd party titles for the N64.
8:46 is it just me or Superman in this part of the cutscenes looked like a very deformed early 3d generation console rendition of GTA V Michael Townley/De Santa
I'm curious how the Batman vs Superman movie would've went if the entire plot was based on their two horrible early-2000s video games. ..... actually I would watch the crap out of that, and I've never even owned a comic book.
I loved this game as a kid. Very nostalgic even if it’s a little clunky. I spent many hours flying around in the different suits with my dad sitting next to me. Good times
Everything after 12:04 is amazing, the dialog between "singular braincell" Superman and Steel almost has the quality of something outta TeamFourStar. I've never laughed so hard. 🤣💀
Man, the Supes doesn't have luck with gaming. Then again, it's hard to make an interesting game about a character who has essentially godmode turned permanently on unless he is in presence of some green rocks.
I like how the 2006ish movie tie in game did a health bar for Superman. Instead of superman actually getting hurt, it was the city itself that had a limit. You could fly though buildings and fight recklessly blowing up cars and causing all sorts of damage only to fall to your knees in sorrow as the game tells you metropolis is rubble. Kinda interesting
Have we ever had a good Superman game? I'm legitimately curious. And no, Injustice and the Lego games don't count, I mean a game where the focus is squarely on Superman.
So how long until Superman gets the "Batman Arkham" treatment? Surely it can't be that hard to get Rocksteady or whomever to make a Superman game actually worth playing!
Actually, the reason Superman 64 is like this is not only the hardware of N64, but also Warner Bros literally gaslighted Titus and tried to stop the game's development. Titus originally had very big plans for the Superman game.
Superman: Shadow of Apokolips should be considered the best Superman game. At least that was a complete game that was very faithful to its source material (the animated series).
@@Alexander-wh8jd Yes I know I have the game. It was quite entertaining for a movie base game. But I jus want to see a review for this game. There were not a lot of reviews of this game when it came out.
I'm actually one of the oddballs who enjoyed this game quite a bit when it came out. Took a few rounds to get the controls, but overall it went well. I agree on his speed, though, sometimes he was frustratingly slow. But this game's flight system would be later improved by Superman: Shadow of Apokalips (the gamecube game is the better version) and Superman Returns, both of which are definitely better than this one. DCUO is probably the best Superman experience, imo, but the Taito arcade is a lot of fun. Anyway, I may not agree that this was a bad game, but the video was still a lot of fun to watch!
Not only does the game seem to take place in another dimension, but I think its release did too. I was a game journalist in 2003 (an editor at Game Informer), and I literally have never heard of this game. Thought you guys were playing the EA 360 movie-license game.
Since Superman 64's plot is him going inside Lex Luthor's virtual reality, the rage inducing controls, glitches, and bugs were all part of Luthor's plan to drive Supes insane.
Oh man, I had this game as a kid. I was too young to really get how to play or how bad it was, but I thought the different unlockable outfits from the comics were neat.
I remember loving this game as an impressionable young child, but looking bad on it, it only has two notable redeeming features. All the loading screens are hand drawn images from the artist who was drawing Superman comics at the time, and a surprising amount of alternate suits like the Kingdom Come outfit
I know I'm way far behind but I'm rather new and getting to the older stuff great video your editing and little bits you add are genuine very funny and your incredibly creative and talented 👍👍
