This goes to show that world records are meaningless when it comes to building and incredible coaster. This is one of the best designed and most thrilling coasters in the world... great drop, tons of airtime, sustained speed, some high positive G moments in the turns. Like, it really has just about everything you could ask for.
@@chrismoser9676ya i just went on it yesterday it is not smooth anymore. Last time i rode it was when it had just been made bizarro. Was very smooth then. Now its really rough. But its getting old, so thats to be expected.
Love this ride! First time I rode it, I was thinking it didn't look that bad. But the airtime you get on that first hill, plus there are no bars to hold on to, literally will take your breath away.
it was my first roller coaster ever i didnt know it was the biggest one untill after cause they said that if i survided this i could survive anything, but honestly i thought joker was the worst and batman was my favorite, harley quin and fireball scared me too lmao
I lived in MA when I was a kid and I desperately wanted to go on this ride. I wore my sister’s platform shoes so I could meet the height requirement and get on it. In retrospect that was dumb as hell, but damn did I love that ride.
Ya I never did the shoe thing and I’m short for my age I’m 13 finally my family found the time to go and I’m about to ride it for my first time and I’m terrified
I'm bored I closed my eyes until I felt like I wasn't "falling" anymore. It helped so much! It wasnt a fast drop at all; it started slow down the drop and sped way up by the tunnel. After that, I loved the rest of the ride; just remember to breathe on the drop. Deeeep breaths. Then scream and have fun! :D
This video convinced me to go on this ride and I recommend this ride to EVERYONE. If you are scared of the height part sit in the back and while you are going up just look at the lake on the left
I rode this for the first time two weeks ago scared of heights my advice sit in car # 8 look at the water as you go up after the first drop ride isn’t so bad would go on it again
Still one of my favorites... Intimidator 305, Millennium Force, Fury 325, Superman 6FNE... they all are in the same boat! ... shout out to wicked cyclone as well! Solid coaster!
Metafagot RoboBitch Sksksk I can’t scream when I go down this ride because I’m so scared😂 I always find something to hold on otherwise I actually wanna die😂
Dare I say this was Intamin's shining moment. 5 golden tickets, 4 in a row, still smooth after 20 years and an incredible design. Highly recommend back row night rides, they take riding this to the next level!
@@Kitsuekota Back when the park was called Riverside (before Six Flags took over) there was a older coaster called the Cyclone I think. That's more of a beginner's ride. I only went 7 times cuz my friends and I had speed passes.
Andrea M. There is a lap bar in addition to the seat belt. The seat belt is just there to ensure the rider is not too large to ride, and has nothing to do with actually restraining the rider. Six Flags could only be sued if the lab bar came undone
Probably two reasons for it: Its relatively fast but not really that fast, so it bleeds off a ton of speed throughout the ride (there are even trim brakes too) so its not really hauling when it finishes. You may be used to hyper and gigas going for the three train ops, so many brake runs that you're used to seeing have multiple blocks built in.
Went to Six Flags New England for a trip while at sleepaway camp. I went on this ride five times and I'm showing this to my mom. She doesn't believe that I actually went on this at all, absolutely not 5 times. xD
This ride is ridiculously fast and the drops are absolutely insane. I have never been on anything like it, and personally i wouldn’t go through it again. But if you’re a thrill seeker, this is a great rollercoaster 10/10. If you can’t handle the pressure, like me, skip it!
I just started working there when six flags bought it from Riverside. I was working on training and testing of the scream tower while they were ripping out the race track to put in this coaster. Still one of my favorites!
Just rode this ride today and it just blew me away! My favorite part of the ride was the 1st drop. It was literally incredible! Although when I rode it, there was a little rattle on the ride probably because of it being 18 years old. I also rode Wicked Cyclone, Batman the Dark Knight twice, and The Joker! #sixflagsnewengland #sixflags #intamin #hypercoaster
What a fun coaster! I remember our high school physics class taking a field trip to Six Flags New England. It was a random weekday in May and the park was pretty empty. My friend and I rode the Superman at least 8 times- front row and back row alternating. Just an awesome day. One underrated aspect of this ride is the amazing view of the Connecticut River on your left as you ascend that first rise.
I felt the same because it was also the first coaster I went on which I went on today and I kept feeling these waves in my stomach maybe it was something to do with the gravity pulling me down but like every time I felt that I got so scared and held on tighter and wished I could get off. I will never go on that ride again but I'm glad I did it. I went on Catwoman's whip three times and it wasn't that scary and I loved it. I had to close my eyes most of superman after the drop way too terrifying. Great ride if you love terrifying roller coasters but not great when it's your first coaster and your scared of heights.
This is still the best POV video for this ride despite being made years ago. Perfectly captures the speed and brute force of this coaster!! Well done 🔥🔥
I went on with a friend that is scared of rollercoasters. She was sitting behind me with her boyfriend. Half way up the hill she started screaming that she wanted to get off. She screamed for the entire ride, and when our pic was taken, you could actually see every vein in her face and neck.🤣 That first hill is intense. I go on it every time I go to Six Flags and always question my decision half way up that hill.🤣
i see a massive line for this ride every time, but i've always gotten lucky and have never had to wait for it. the first time i went on it was a rainy day and there was barely anyone at the park so i just went on it over and over again. fun :)
This is the good intimin superman. Especially the theming. I go to amusement parks across the country too and by far Superman in Massachusetts is the best I ridden yet.
this is at my home six flags park, i’ve been going on rollercoasters since i was 5 (ive always been tall for my age) and when i was i think 7 or 8 i went here and i was to scared to get on superman so my sister who would have been 10 or 11 went on it by herself (my mom was pregnant so she couldn’t) but i finally went back there at 12 years old and i surprised myself by putting my hands up on the drop, i love superman, such a great ride
Ive been terrified of rollercoasters my entire life. Few years back, me and some buddies went to mass and this is the first ride I’ve ever been on. Boy let me tell you, that initial drop is awesome
I rode this when it first opened as Superman Ride of Steel. (and several times since, as Bizzaro, and Superman the Ride). Since the, I know rollercoasters have gotten higher and faster, but this still remains my favorite roller-coaster of all time.
Nice view of the Connecticut River on the way up. On a different note I remember back in 2004 I rode this with my dad and for whatever reason my 17 year old self felt compelled to flip off the camera on the ride. The employees were not amused. Nor was my dad 😅😅
Best way to experience the drop is from the back row. The way everyone in front of you disappears and then it whips you over the crest is unreal. One of my favorite coasters ever
Superman was like The Third Actualy Rollercoaster I ever went on and my god was I not ready it was so terrifying but fun at the same time and can’t describe to you in words on how insane this coaster is
It’s always been a bit scary to see how much speed this thing still has as it approaches the station. That’s major braking with not much space to spare!
@@Stephenp503 The brakes did partially engage, so the collision only caused minor injuries. The problem was apparently a leaking air hose, which is a bit odd to me (aren't these brakes designed with a dead-man mechanism where they're full on if the power fails entirely?) but that's what the old newspaper article says from when the ride reopened. The hoses were replaced with stronger steel ones. I think the 2004 fatal accident, where a large man with cerebral palsy who had been insufficiently secured fell out of the ride, also happened right at the end, on the last snappy turn before the brakes. That led to the restraints being redesigned.
best roller coaster EVER. went a few days ago for the first time and i was waiting in line with my friends and i was TERRIFIED. but i had so much fun. the drop is the best part. the dropping in your stomach is awesome and i screamed my head off the entire ride. if you haven’t been on this ride, you HAVE to try it. best ride hands down. go on batman too. that ones super fun. i went on pretty much all the scary rides after that except for flashback, goliath, and harley quinn. i’m going to try those rides next time i go.
I'm terrified of heights and rides. When this first opened I went on it. My first rollercoaster ever. I started cursing my friends and gf out as we were going up for convincing me to get on it. As soon as it got over, I jumped back in line a as fast I could!
Tips for riding: RIDE BACK ROW!! RIDE IN THE EVENING OR NIGHT TIME! That is where Superman is at its prime. (I recommend doing a day and night ride, but a night ride is a lot better!) There are two seats in each row. If you are scared of heights, sit in the right side. This faces the park and the cat walk is right next to you. It will make you feel more enclosed than the left side. If you aren’t scared of heights, but nervous what’s going to happen to you, side left side. This faces the Connecticut river. (Which, from what I heard, usually calms people down.) If you are underweight/skinny, you’ll have no problem with the restraints. If you are overweight or muscular: You will have a problem with the restraints. Scooch forward (not too much or the ride operators will tell you to scooch back) cause the ride operators WILL staple you. If you scooch forward, you will have a great time. For people who are scared/intimated of the ride: don’t be. It’s very smooth, and you won’t be disappointed. I get that you are scared, I was scared too. Tbh being scared on a ride would lead to a better experience. Think of it as a, “Let’s get this over with,” moment. Superman: The Ride has two trains. One of them has a little rattle (I don’t remember which one, I think it’s the red train?) It’s most noticeable in the second part of the layout. When Superman enters its first and second helix, you might grey out. (Taller people are more likely to grey out than shorter people) The waiting time is usually 15 minutes-2 hours NEVER GO ON A HOLIDAY OR WEEKEND. If you see a group of students from a school (they are probably in a school trip), DONT EVER GET IN LINE WITH THEM. Go on another ride. Those types of people think they are above everyone else. Plus they are loud. Don’t ride when it’s pouring rain, don’t ride when it’s chilly and don’t ride if the operators say only one train is running. (This increases wait times by ALOT) Finally, don’t set your expectations too high. Remember, it’s not going to be the best coaster in the world. And the chain lift is slow lol. Put your hands up! Letting go of the restraints has to be one of the best feelings ever. 👌
Every year my school comes here on the last day and we’re always the first ones in the park. We sprint straight for the superman and just keep riding it. Best day, i cant wait for this year.
Been to the park a number of times. Went on this for the first time a few weeks ago. I hadn't been to any amusement park in about 5 years and this was the first ride we did. It was fun as hell, but I was hyperventilating when we stopped cuz I went into a bit of shock.
Got to ride this for the first time a few days ago. Amazing air time on the camel humps. No loops just amazing drops and air time! Wicked Cyclone was rated #1 by several RU-vidrs but this was my #1. I had tears in my eyes. Maybe it was the water they sprayed in us during the ride but it sure felt like joy.
Ahh yes, Superman. I lived about 3 miles away from Six Flags NE when I was in high school. It was my first ever job so i got a free pass and would ride this coaster all the time. Sigh, good times😊
My dad went onto this ride. His seatbelt was unbuckled and he had to keep himself up the whole ride. He almost punched the worker in his face for not checking his seatbelt. From that day on he never went on rides.
here at the park right now, rode the superman earlier for the first time. I think it was a good start for never have gone on a roller coaster before. Hopefully can do it again before we leave!
I went on this yesterday! It felt like Nitro. Alot of hypers feel the same (probs since I ride in the same seat every time.) Hearing John Williams' magical Superman score is epic! My #2 as of current. When it got to the "Superman Defeats Bizarro" part, I said, "WE DEFEATED BIZARRO!!"
