I really did expect things to be much more expensive, but that's about what we pay in DC, this was fascinating thanks for the video. Also, i really like how the supermarket is nearly silent, no noises or awful music playing
My sister-in-law is married and lives in Sweden. As an American, watching this took me so far out of my comfort zone! I was nervous just watching. Found out what a creature of habit I am and how difficult it is to see so many unfamiliar things.
This was nice to see. The store is large and the prices seem to be comparable in price to where I live in the US, although sure there are items that are more expensive or cheaper on both sides. I also like the quiet of store. I would like to see how check out is, although understand why that probably isn’t possible. Thank you for sharing.
I would say that some are comparable. Currently ground beef is $5.99 per pound, chicken $5.49 per pound, baby potatoes are $3.99 for a 24 ounce bag, a package Wasa crisp bread $4.99. They will of course vary depending on inflation, environmental conditions and such as I believe it is everywhere. There are probably items that are more expensive here than there as well as more expensive there than here. 😊 Do Swedes normally go and do grocery shopping for the coming week in one trip on Fridays? Curious, for example I go out on Saturday and get what I need for the coming week.
Here, the price of almost everything increases quite often actually. The rise in prices is also being felt here because of the inflation. Ground beef was $4.82 3-4 years ago now it costs $6.17. Other foods have just become more exaggerated. People in Sweden tend to do their grocery shopping after work on Fridays for the weekend and also on Sundays@@marilyn443
@@WalkingTourSweden Yes over the last couple of years food prices have gone up and in same cases packaging has become smaller. It is getting ridiculous. It hard sometimes to plan meals that are cost effective. I guess we can always hope that it gets better or we get a pay increase, although unfortunately I don't see either happening.
I live in Portugal. The prices are aligned with Sweden, nowadays...it's crazy because the avarage salary in Portugal is 900 euros, I live in Porto in 40 sq metre, paying 850 euros/month...so, considering everything, Sweden is much cheaper than Portugal. It's crazy...
Interesting! Didn`t know that! There are other Coop supermarkets that are more expensive then this store! It depends where the store is in Sweden. Is the grocery store in the central parts of the city or in the suburbs then the prices can differ a little bit!
At least your self checkouts are better than American self checkouts. I hate self checkout with a passion because they pause excessively between scans or they lock up if you buy more than 5 items. You also end up with a lot of scans that spontaneously fail to record their entries so you get jumped by security. Imagine if cashiers had to deal with the same hardware, cashier would quit.
