Supernatural | 2x18: “Hollywood Babylon” REACTION!! 

Jared Padalecki was in Gilmore Girls, which is why Sam reacts when the tour guide mentions it. So the joke was if we’re lucky we might see one of the stars. Jared’s character in Gilmore Girls was called Dean.

Couple fun facts about this episode: - Jared was on Gilmore Girls and he reacted when the tour guide said "Up ahead is the set for Gilmore Girls. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll get to see one of the show's stars." - Some of the notes that the studio executive (the guy who got hung) gives the crew are notes that Supernatural actually received from CW. ("If the ghosts are in Hell, then how do they hear the chanting? Why are ghosts afraid of salt?") - The woman starring in the movie, Tara Benchley, mentioned that she likes to take polaroids of the whole crew, which is actually something Jensen does on the Supernatural set. - A lot of the crew are actually people from the SPN crew and some of the scenes have reused props from previous episodes.

Fun fact: Jared tried out for the role of Thor and Jensen tried for the role of Captain America and was offered the role of Hawkeye

Nathan is right : I can assure you guys that Jensen Ackles can play ANYTHING. you've just not seen enough of his capabilities as an actor yet. (13 years of practicing his craft between then and now can do that...) He can play excruciating drama and make you cry like a baby or hilarious comedy with a sense of rythm only great comedy actors have. Not to mention his hability to express many things without any lines. His range is really wide and Oscar worthy. His acting is one of the reasons I've been watching Supernatural all theses years. He's worth watching even when the episode sucks. You'll see... Love you guys, you made my day brighter and funnier !

As everyone else has mentioned, you guys missed the part where the tour guide mentions "Gilmore Girls" is filmed on the lot, a show that Jared was on, where he played a character called Dean. Jared often jokes that he's the "original Dean" lol. Also, Sam says it's not swimming pool weather and that it's "practically Canadian", likely a reference to the fact that Supernatural is shot in Canada lol.

The next four episodes are what turned me from a fan to a super fan. Talk about superior acting at the end of episode 22.... you have not seen anything yet!!

I agree with Nathan. You can’t effectively grade Jensen’s or Jared’s acting ability by what you’ve seen of them so far. They’ve grown so much in the past 15 years that y’all haven’t seen yet. I also agree that y’all need to listen to Radio Company. Not sure what your musical tastes are to say if you’ll like it or not, but you should still give them a chance.

What I like is that even the fun episodes help to further the story and can even build up the backstory and character. This episode shows that not only does Dean thrive in an environment where he has set jobs and is told what to do, but it shows that he watched a lot of movies and pays attention. It brings to mind a younger Dean left alone with Sam at a hotel room and watching late night movies as a way to pass the time. Also Nathan, could a younger Jensen play Stiles Stilinski or an older Dylan play Dean?

Next season is short because of the writers? strike. Filler eps are needed to balance out the tension. Hollywood Babylon was just the precursor to French Mistake later on.
