Rating - 8.5/10 - I freakin' loved the concept of this episode. The imaginary friends aspect was so interesting to me. I always enjoy seeing more of the boys pasts too & this definitely touched upon that. Plot progression wasn't major but I do feel it was a very strong MOTW episode. Meeting Sully was awesome & kinda sad at the same time. Sam felt he needed him, then he gained confidence & traction in the family business & dropped him leaving him hurt & making mistakes. I didn't quite understand why the girl hurt ALL imaginary friends...that was a bit overkill & savage tbh - seeing her kill Sparkle and then see poor Sparkles insides all over that mum's face was just too much guys!!! Hahaha. Bring on the next episode!

Dean's angry robe tying, the "You. Me. Library. Now." and then Sam heading for the library with a hung head like a kid in trouble. Then Dean stopping Sully from following them and Sully is like terrified of him in that moment. LOL! Gets me every time I see this eppie. Love it. And sleepy Sam is adorable - oblivious but adorable. I think part of the reason for Dean shutting down Sam talking about the cage straight away (and on other occasions about other things) is that Dean knows that if he lets Sam really start talking about it that Dean might give into it. Sometimes it's hard for Dean to resist giving Sam what he wants so Dean just shuts him right off from every getting it out as not to risk it. So one of the many reasons Dean may have done that was that he knew that there was a good chance that he'd cave and Sam would be able talk him into whatever. But, yes, Sam should absolutely be able to speak his mind.

Dean with the robe on is acting like he's Sam's dad. Since he practically raise him. Sam is his son lol 😂 Sam should have replied "Yes dad"

the fact that sully is the only character in the show that has acknowledged that sam saved the world by managing to trap lucifer back in the cage and condemning himself to eternal torture to do it breaks my heart

Sully is the best minor character to ever exist in this universe. Literally he saw his kid was upset and he was willing to give up his life it made her feel better, if it helped her heal. And then even afterwards, he kept checking in on her (I would imagine) and I would like to think he kept checking on Sam too :)

Another instance of Dean asking "who is people", who to save. Dean at the beginning is a little hesitant about Sully but then he realises that he is someone who Sam needed. And that they had really different childhood experiences. When they were kids Sam wanted to grow up fast and Dean didn't really have a childhood. Sam wanted to be a "hero" idealizing the hero life, wanting to be part of the "family bussiness" then later he got desilusioned about it. On the contrary Dean was already a hero, since he was 4 years old because that was his duty and the only thing he knew, the only thing he had besides Sam of course, but it was all to protect Sam, protect him from hunting, and as a consecuence that erased Dean's choices. While Sam could always choose to leave hunting Dean really couldn't, we have seen that in past episodes. While Sam could fantasize as a normal kid and have an imaginary friend, Dean couldn't really and had to grow up fast. They ARE heroes though, as Sully said, just the way they see it needs to be adjusted so they don't see it and treat it as a burden, finding balance. Also I love how Sam had a supernatural being helping him. A nice supporting and loving being. And I'm glad even though Dean was a little wary of him at the beginning of the episode he just ended up understanding and accepting him.

Love this episode so much! Sully is so sweet and it was really nice to have someone finally tell Sam he's doing well and that he's a hero. He never really gets that... Something that really hurts about this episode is the flashbacks. Obviously. *But!* He was nine. Sam was nine and alone in a Motel room, and Dean and John were somewhere that Sam had to get a bus to, and they called him on a payphone. Meaning Sam had no way to contact them if something happened... He was nine years old, and left alone for days. Of course, we know Dean was young and looking after Sam, but at least they were together then, ya know? At least they weren't lonely. Also, Sam said and I quote "You stated hunting when you were younger than me." (Very messed up considering Sam was NINE!) But like, I really hope that during those hunts Sam was left with like, Bobby or someone... Because he would've been *very* young!

I agree that I do feel bad for Adam, and how we kinda just ignore he's been in there forever now, since hell time and all. Remember 4 months was 40 years for Dean. (Although the writers forget that sometimes and it some how matches Earth time. 😅)

I love the concept of this episode, only this show can make you cry over an imaginary friend 😂, somehow you were extra cute this episode 😍, you're right about dean being overprotective sometimes and it can be unfair to Sam, it's because dean was always told by john to look out for Sam from a very young age, he had to be a mother and a father and a big brother, his whole existence revolves around protecting Sam, that's where his sense of self-worth comes from.

i still find it so funny till this day that they went so long over 6 years and beyond to not say much about their half brother being trapped in a cage with Michael like " did you know your brother Adam is in the cage? oh yeah Adam........yeah that's still a shame......moving on"

There are probably others out there that don't like this one but personally its another one of my favorites. It is technically a filler but does touch on alot of main arc stuff in dialog with Sam etc and I tend to prefer the Fillers like I've said before. I just think this one is hilarious with the imaginary friends and Sully is great. Also I also think the mother smearing Sparkles glitter blood on her face is one of the most darkly funny things I've seen in my life. It gets me every time.

'Your girlfriend and your only other friend who's not me are dead' is worse news than 'your girlfriend is dead'. Plus in the full episode his reaction to her death is 'WHAT! NOOO! She was my GIIIRL!' which is the worse reaction of the 2.

a very beautiful and iconic episode💗but not exactly a great plot so it can be storyline!I mean it's true so many children have imaginary friends!but they start to forget them by growing up!in this episode they were creatures which existed!but we all know it's not true and not something which can be all people's mind issue!not even all children believe in such a things!and when only they can see them,not others,by not believing,so it really can't be that much issues!I mean the girl Maddie was depressed but she will grow up and considering she didn't know creatures like Zanna or monsters exist,she will probably think,she was just a child with imaginations!and that's why just like you I didn't get that much emotional!but the fact that Weems moved on from his girlfriend's death and they forgive the girl that much easily made no sense for me!not that I wanted her to be badly punished!but after all Sully lost a friend and Weems his girlfriend!it couldn't be that much easily! next episode is amazing💗💗💗
