A good episode I really liked how Jensen played ‘Future Dean’ a Dean with a lack of empathy is quite scary. Cas as a hippy was also a fun change first I saw it as was all ‘Who is this guy?’

The scene with Dean and Lucifer (in Sam) is one of my absolute favourites in the show, Jared and Jensen knocked it out of the park! Lucifer came across so wise and otherwordly but terrifying and creepy at the same time, and poor Dean was just so devastated to see the devil in his brother.

Jared's Lucifer was really cool to me because, like you said, he pulled off such a cold, yet convincing character so well. It felt different than Sam, it felt different than when Sam was high on demon blood or even when he was possessed by Meg. If Jared still wants to act after supernatural is done, I hope he plays a villian. He just does them so well! Lovely reaction as a always, it always makes my Monday when I watch a new one!

Watching this in 2020 and hearing hoard toilet paper, hahaha.

I just had a thought: since one season in SPN corresponds to one year, Dean's visit takes place somewhere in the early episodes of Season 10. When you reach that point in the show, it might be interesting to take a look back and compare the future Dean saw in this episode with how it turned out to be in "reality".

You know what I realized? I spent so long puzzling over why Sam would say yes. But then, it's very plausible he came up with the same plan they had in 5x22, except that Dean was simply not there to snap him out of it. He failed, and the world ended. Because the Winchesters were apart.

Robbie looks tiny because he IS tiny lol.. especially next to Jensen,.. since he’s always being towered over by Jared, we forget hat he’s a tall guy himself. :)

7:39 2009 dean: "you mean you're gonna feed your friends into a meat grinder? Cas, too?" Cuz Cas is more than a friend he's on another level.

Lucifer didn't have to be lying, he could be right, but he could be wrong. Lucifer BELIEVES that Dean can't change the future, whether he's right or not is yet to be seen.

This episode was really good, but sad as well, for everyone. Dean becoming this cold-hearted and desperate person; Sam saying yes and becoming what he became; and Cas, you kept saying that he laughed and was so different, but to me that was so freaking sad, that he lost absolutely everything, the only one he got left was Dean and even he betrayed him. Also I can't believe you took out the "Cas, don't ever change" legendary part because honest to god it was one of the funniest and sweetest things ever

Jensen and Jared did such amazing jobs in this episode! There was no trace left of Sam in Lucifer and coldhearted Dean was just so different to normal Dean. So good! Oh man, I just love these dudes! :3

I do think it is amazing to have Dean finally TRY to get back to him and Sam being brothers again, and not just shutting down and pushing Sam away. But yeah…. hopefully they can get that trust back despite everything that has happened, because I truly think Sam needs that if he is not to lose himself and say yes to Lucifer. And, as Dean saw here, he needs his brother if he is not to lose his humanity as well.

every time I watch this season it reminds me why I still watch now season 14 omg it’s been too long

The first 4 episodes of S5 are some of my all time favorites. All the lore and informations we get about Michael/Dean and Lucifer/Sam... I love it :D

This is probably one of the best episodes in the whole series dakarajayne. It takes the future episode to its highest.

I chose to not believe anything Dean was seeing in the 'future.' The angels (Zachariah in particular) demonstrated an ability to alter people's memories like when they made Dean corporate desk jockey. Results were the same: Dean says *HELL NO!*

Yeah, Chuck is definitely not something you would picture alright :D. And the future version of Cas kinda made me realize how much I love the Cas we have. I think it was the same for Dean. He's often annoyed with Cas, but going by the "don't ever change" line he does like him way more than the future Cas. I think in a way, he likes how innocent Cas is when it comes to humanity and wants to protect that. Despite his attempts at helping cas get rid of his virginity :D.

Funny that the future reminded you of The Walking Dead, considering that the scene where Dean encounters the little girl mirrors closely to the scene where Rick Grimes encounters the little girl in The Walking Dead pilot

Sam as Luci is such a spine-chilling scene.

The one take away from is episode is horde toilet paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the episode I’ve been waiting for, I love this episode because it has a great story. Proving to Dean that Sam needs him to keep him strong and willing to keep fighting. Cas being on drugs and so different makes me cry though, he’s completely given everything up and still he follows Dean. Cas is forever loyal to Dean even when he gets hurt, even when he’s wrong.

Deans human lol wanting space from Sam for a minute bc he was still so angry with him even though in his head he knew that Sam never would have done all that if he knew better… and he knows Sam wishes that Sam can take it back … but to be fair to Dean… he didn’t really do anything wrong and Sam lied to him , betrayed him over and over and listened to ruby and put more faith in her than his own brother… and it wasn’t like Dean tried to get through to him once. It happened over and over and Sam always chose the wrong path… it wasn’t one mistake… it was constant choices and like ruby said… she didn’t have to manipulate him… she gave him the choices and Sam always chose the wrong one. Considering all deans done his whole life to support and protect Sam… you have to see how shitty that would be for him. Bc sure he was gone for four months… but Bobby wasn’t, they’ve got so many hunter friends that weren’t… and he could have chosen anybody else to work with… but he always chose ruby sadly

It's not certain if the future Dean is taken to in this episode is an actual future that was possible at that point or if it's an archangel-induced warped reality like what happened in The Mystery Spot and Changing Channels.

"Chuck isn't what you think of when you think prophet." Totally agree with you! Even from where I am, waiting to watch season 14, (and for however long he may or may not have been on the show up to this point) I just don't think "prophet" when I look at Chuck! :D

In 5x03 at 8:17 Sam said . I think he intended to say that he'll leave that place/work as soon as the 2 hunters leave the bar/restaurant. If not, it means after Dean talked to Zacharia , when back to 2009, must have called Sam to tell him that he wants to see him and work together again. So Sam left the place/work to re-join with his Brother.5x04 time 11:46 you said that Lucifer isn't an angel. Well, Lucifer is an angel, cast away from heaven by God and in the fall he landed on earth/hell (this part i don't remember/know well) but it's all in the Bible (isaiah 12:14 and Revelation 12,7-9). In many cultures he is known as Satan/Lucifer , the morning star fallen from the sky . You could read it some of the story and mithology of Lucifer on the internet. It's very interesting and explains the origin of the name (in latin it means: bringer of light) .

will there's one thing probably you realized about this episode,now that you finished S9 and watching S10!the real Dean really did died in 2014 and was really that much of emotionless and heartless which is shown in this episode's 2014 Dean!(End of S9)the different is that the one who killed him wasn't Lucifer!and the fact that Cas was no longer an angel in 2014,and some of his talks like the spell which he made,which caused so terribly on angels!well probably now you get all of those code words Dakara😉😉😉

This episode is HORRIBLE! lol in the sense of ..seeing them be the total opossite of who they are, ugh, scary

I love seeing this episode thinking on season 15... I'v got a Theory that we gonna have Samifer. As he says in this episode "It doesn't metter what you do, we always gonna end up here"

Again......whatever Sam did or will do he always right or you always have excuses for him, and whatever Dean does he Is always wrong or something is wrong with him. How is this kind of reaction understandable? Always confuse me with this. I bet if it’s dean kills sam instead of sam kills dean in that future world you will never use the so called “epic”. I mean that just not feel right ether way for me, because I love them both.
