I'm extremely impressed by the mileage you're capable of. I'm just 4 years older and I'd be elated if I could run one mile. My days of long distant running are becoming an increasingly distant memory due to niggling injuries. Was trying to ease back into some running, just at the walk run walk stage, but no such luck. That said, a fascinating shoe comparison. Very informative. What blows my mind are the seemingly very short ground contact times!

I have been really lucky with injuries and also lucky to have found a great physio who helps as soon as I develop an issue. The GCT is amazing in the super shoes, as is the tech in the sensors...

Try Eoin Everard online Pilates. Lots in my club Bros Pearse use him. Regad better than rehab. Give it another try, I’m 62 and can still do 19:20 5km!

Ha! When I turned 50 I ran for 50 minutes and I do want to run an ultra. As it happened I turned 60 and qualified for Boston in Rotterdam 2023. Hit 61 last week!

I turned 60 in 2023, 61 now! I regularly get my age wrong in videos...Beware the ides of March! I kind of didn't buy anything, says the man who has a new camera, expensive running vest arriving today...and super shoe tomorrow...I am impossible to buy for...Holidays for me are running marathons and work related travel, am not the best at relaxing...

Interesting. Those new ASICS racers are really good. Can’t wait for your Edge comparison. I used the Edge Paris over the VF3 a couple weeks ago for my last marathon. It was great. Very similar performance and a bit more comfortable in the later miles.

VERY interesting Barry!! Many of us will be keenly awaiting your follow-up testing! Gosh it would be soooo interesting to see such a real test with a good sample size of 50 or so runners!!😂Can you imagine how much that would cost in shoes??🤑🤑I guess you don't have enough influence yet with all those companies to be able to pull off such a feat, but if you ever do that, please, PICK ME!!!🤣🤣

Cheers Bev. I had been wondering if anyone would replicate the test and share the data. I had tried to get the nephew Jack to do some testing but he got a life, sadly! Then I thought I might find someone with size 12 feet nearby, but no luck...if I get anything free in multiple sizes you will be top of the list!

Great video Barry, love all the metrics you have included, my Metaspeed Sky Paris have arrived today so I'm really excited to try them out now. Not a fan of the VF3 as it feels too soft now, would take the AF3 over that every day but the Paris has got me very excited!

Fantastic video. A long time ago, you did a similar video for some other shoes. Enjoyed it. Query: Once you do more testing of Sky Paris, could you re-visit SP vs Sky+ again? Would you suggest someone get Sky+ over SP? If so, under what situations? Thanks!!!

Rajkumar. I hope to repeat this run in all of my Asics Metaspeeds, Sky, Edge, Sky+, Sky Paris and...assuming the Edge Paris arrives tomorrow...I would get the Sky Paris over the Sky Plus, as it is lighter and I run well in it...

Great review Bazza 😊 I ordered the Edge yesterday Have watched quite a few reviews.. and as a high cadence heel striking old runner whose vertical oscillation reduces with increased pace I thought that might suit better.. 🤔 My targer distance is 5K.. reviews seem to think its better for 5/10k I hope it's better than the original Edge which I thought was pants ☺️

Great shoe off Barry , there are a couple of people who review shoe's that I 100% trust what they are saying (including you ) who have very different running styles and speed, you all seem to be pretty consistant with Asic's latest race day shoes. Will deffo look at them after London is done and dusted , especially as I am changing my focus to the half (will do Boston next year , but thats it for the 26.2 for me)

Cheers John! Have you done Chicago, Tokyo, Berlin? Best of luck in London. I want to run it but will concentrate on filming it when I do. It goes down the road I used to live on amongst other things, and I have always loved running on the Embankment...I hope to add some Ultras when I get the time and the NYC is really on my list. great time of year for me and I want to really run through New York again...

@@OldManRunner I have not drank the Abbott's koolaid (I am a member though), and when and if I return to the Marathon down the road races like Dublin , Velencia and Osaka .. that have my intrest .. I also should look to do the San Francisco marathon at some point as that is the place of my birth .. even if it is nearly unknown to me now after 40 years away. but once London is done and I have recovered it will be the 13.1 and the European superhalf series.

Great detail as usual Barry, question for you, you say if you wanted a pb you'd run in the vaporfly, do you think now that the sky Paris would outdo the vaporfly? I've 175 miles on my vf3s and can't decide to buy another pair or punt on the paris

I don't know for sure and I haven't tested enough. I will definitely do a back to back in them over a longer distance and post the Stryd data on Strava, not exactly sure when, as I have a lot of Asics testing this coming week..will move it up the to do list and revert

Alan. I went out for 3k in the Sky Paris and the Vaporfly 3. I just posted them on Strava. Very hard to split them...I could flip a coin. If there is no coin, the VF3

Interesting test. Only got the Nike duo of these 5 partly as my size either not done (Sky Paris) or hard to get. Any HR data? You were noticeably quicker in the Sky Paris so not surprising cadence, stride length and power all higher as well. But were you working harder or maybe like as I found in VF3 over AF3, I just found it “easier” to get going in the VF3 partly I think in our large sizes just so much less shoe. Be interesting to do direct comparison with Edge. Seems Edge may feel for like a Vaporfly in the plate setup.

Tim, if you click on the Stryd link you can access all of the data, I think you may need an account, but it is free to sign up...always tricky to compare. Even on the treadmill it is nt as conclusive as I like. I didn't feel like I was working harder in the Sky Paris, but of course I might have been. I did 3k in the VF3 and Sky Paris earlier. It's on Strava. Plan to repeat this test when the Edge comes.

Great video! Would you say the sky Paris is similar to the AF for cushioning ? Or even in general? Im torn between the 2 for LDN marathon (if I can get a pair AF3, currently have the AF1). It looks like from other RU-vid videos the Sky Paris is similar to AF and the Edge closer to the VF, would you agree? Loved all the stats, and the format!

Jonathan. Thanks for the feedback on the format. I really enjoyed making the video and have another one planned…The Sky Edge arrived yesterday and I did some treadmill testing. But not enough to form definitive answers to your questions. But I plan to in the next week. 11th April 08:00 IST is when Nike say the AF3 go on sale in Europe. 4th April at 03:00 PM GMT+1 in the US…Best wishes for London!

I love the toebox of the VF3 in size 9.5 as compared to the VF2 with the same size. How’s the toebox on MSP? Do I need to size up for a roomier toebox? Also, I’ve read that its a bit “short” as compared to the previous version.

I have just tried on all three. I can't find any significant difference in the toebox length of the MSP and MS+, nor in the VF3. There does seem to be more give in the fabris of the VF3 upper, allowing for a little more wiggle. I have found the MSP and MEP a little narrower along the side of my forefoot than the MS+ or VF3. In practice they all feel fine for me when running over a distance.

Excellent video again,thx for sharing. Quick question here regarding Sky Paris fit please,as we all know ASICS shop for some reason didnt get the shoe 🤷 I had to size down with the Superblast -size 11 uk is perfect. Normally i go with 11.5 uk with my Endo pro 3s and my Endo Speed 3s. So wondering if you used the superblast and how would the Sky Paris compare to the fit please. Should i go with 11 or 11.5 would be the million dollar question 😊 Found a 11.5 online,just cant be arsed to send it back,refund etc.... Thx for the input in advance,keep these coming please

I did not get the Superblast. I have just tried on the Sky Paris and the Sky, Sky+, Endorphin Pro 3. All are UK12 and all fit fine. I would not change regular sizing, but then I very rarely do. My problems with shoe sizes always comes in the width not the length. The Paris fits the same as the Sky and Sky+ for me. If in doubt you could try the Sky+ in Asics, get the right size for you in that shoe and then buy the same size Sky Paris online. Hope this helps!

Sizing question. I am 43 in the Nike and Saucony but New Balance SC elite V4 I'm 42.5. In wide shoes I go down half a size. How about the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V2 .. The Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V2 look wide and no heel lock which is alway use.. 🤔

I try to be consistent in the sizing of the shoes I buy. Mainly because I want to accurately compare them. So UK12 is my baseline. I struggle to understand why a UK12 is in Asics a US13 and an EU48. In a Mizuno is a US12 and EU47 and in New Balance is a US12.5 and EU47. I also don't understand why manufactures say size up or down, why don't they make them to a consistent size? The Asian sizes seem to be in mm. I bought a shoe measuring device but it is very hard to get consistent results as the base of the shoe is curved... Having said all that. The Mizuno is super light in the upper and incredibly easy to put on. To run in it I need to land on the mid foot with a consistent stride. They reminds me of driving on dirt roads in Africa that have ridges across and there is a certain speed you need to drive at to reduce resonance, and once you are at that speed all is well. In this configuration and striking the tension across the forefoot is critical and they have got this sorted with two slots in the tongue and the heel lock may be less of an issue. I would not size up and Mizuno say they already made the v2 longer...

As a primarily cadence runner, anything I can do to increase my stride length is the biggest bang for my bingo bucks. And your data leans towards the old staple....weight is actually important when tech is nearly equal. The HUGE concern I have with the Sky Paris, at the marathon distance, is the 5mm drop. I ran a 3:30hr marathon in the AlphaFly V1 and my calves suffered in the last 5k with the 4mm drop. 5 months later I ran a 3:23hr in the AF V2 on a hilly course in a post tropical storm and had zero issues post race. My next marathon is 6 weeks from now, and I'm running it in the AF V3. I'm planning to try a run a sub 90min half in the fall....and I'm almost certain I will be doing it in the Sky Paris....and then run Chicago 3 weeks later in the AF V3 again. Been a Stryd user for over 3years now, love the race planner and the ability to import course files for any race and know my race plan will work on any day, in nearly any weather.
