Hi, yes the 5mm balls weigh close to exactly half a gram each (slightly less) when I've weighed them on digital scales, so this structure would definitely be over 11kg in total, and thanks for reading my description!
@@KryoLePleb I built up my collection in stages slowly over time. Some of the magnetic balls in the subunits supporting the base of this honeycomb mountain are over 10 years old. With the recent shut down of Zen Magnets/Neoballs by the Feds I invested some hundreds of dollars in their closing down sale.
@@ledwatchman dang, I wish I knew there was a closing down sale. I would've bought a bunch. I've been stuck with 2,054 for a while now. Also, is there any good place to buy more of these from? Or is there no way to buy good magnets anymore?
That's a pity for you. Now that Zen/Neoballs are gone, it's hard to find good enough quality balls to add to an existing collection. You want to match exact size, strength and quality. There's a lot of cheap knock off rubbish balls around that aren't accurately uniform enough for large geometric builds, and the coating wears off quickly. I'm glad I invested in decent ones. It looks like neocube.com are still selling good ones, but their magnetic strength is N38, somewhat stronger than the industry standard N35, which wouldn't quite match my older sets, so I have yet to try their brand out. Correction: it looks like that website has stopped offering 5mm balls also, due to absurd draconian government recalls.
