Have you had any issues with the clearance becoming to large, as far as the space between the bottom of the rack and the spindle gear it engages with as you pull the engagement lever ? My DR kinetic splitter is having this problem, and it doesnt split wood as well as it used to...the wedge jams and the gears chatter. It looks like I need to either take apart the lever engagement assembly and take off the bushing that rides on top of the rack and replace it with a bushing that is wider by about 3/16 inch , or weld a piece of flat bar steel that is 2 inchs wide, x 2 ft long x 1/8: thick to the top of the rack. This will fix the sloppy clearance issue and allow the rack and pinion to once again mesh together tightly when the engagement handle is engaged.
NO. I am about to do a vid on this splitter for the very first somewhat of a repair. its just bearing seals on the flywheels. i see what you are saying and doing, you sound like you've studied this in depth. I am wondering something different though. ***THIS S ASSUMING you have already determined that the gear teeth on both the rack and pinion are not worn out!!!! or worn somewhat out of spec. Here is what we know........... when it was new the problem did not exist and now it does. I have to wonder if there was a sacrificial plastic shim that was factory installed and you just did not notice it. like perhaps in an area where you are thinking a shim is needed but they used plastic because it would both act as the needed shim and as well act as a substitute for lubricant. hope this makes sense. maybe you can get an illustrated parts breakdown of that particular area or if your lucky,,, someone on youtube did a vid on it and one of thier camera angles captures this area. i guess in short what im thinking is ****FIRST*** make sure your not ***MISSING*** a part. this shim may have been glued on. You may even see witness marks on the metal giving you a clue that your engineering is sound and correct,, your using metal as the shim might end up being a bad call. send me a pic to jcassity@frontier.com or if you wanna talk tech, 304 772 3411
The standard engine on the super split is 5.5 - 9 hp gas engine. Even the largest one wouldn't drive a 10kw generator head (9 hp ~= 6.8 kw give or take). Maybe I'm missing something about your proposed modifications.
the standard engine of my era is the 4.5 Ex13 subaru. using the unused flywheel to drive a gen head pulley. if you have thoughts on what this looks like on the calculator, i get it. let me know your thoughts if you like and you can email,,, i will reply. the idea of the engine itself direct coupled to the gen head input is obviously not what i am speaking to. using the flywheel to drive the head is the objective.
Split with one of these and never had anything it wouldn’t split we had oak and beach that we put on the splitter with a loader had no problem splitting it
beach can be some tricky wood to split. I dont have much around here but growing up along the ohio river ,,, i had a lot of experience working with it.

I see your point because of his recent court appearance and being found liable for damages but,,,, without even speaking to you, i know without a doubt you are not aware of the facts of that trial, nor the reality that not only Alex,, but even the left media and tons of other people were asking questions and coming up with thier own "thoughts" as well. The judge actually said in court that his thougths "IS THE VERY REASON WE ARE HERE TODAY". He never once ever said anyones names on his show about sandy hook, and he stated why on air due to respect for the family. There may not even be a point to this reply to you but if you are not awake , aware of your political situation now,,, you may find yourself asking "what the hell just happened" a few weeks or months from now. i am very happy to talk with you any hour of any day if for some reason even at the very least you want to get an idea of what other people see going on.
