The fact that the most iconic line of the song is him assuring his mother puts a fantastic flip on the Faith Evans sample he used. “Soon as I get home. I’ll make it up to you, I’ll do what I gotta do” really fits the mantra of the song as a whole even though it’s directed to a mother in this song, rather than a lover like in the original. Samples still remain my favorite thing in music.
