Even my daughter at 41 knows my generation had the best....no....the greatest music she listens to these songs now and even has her kids rockin out to it!! ..Luv it at 71!!!!
I can’t listen to this album without thinking of my mom. She used to rock it back then, and when these songs were on the radio the volume was going up. Great music and memories! I ❤️ you Ma
I was born in 68 I found this cassette tape next to a van near my house and this song was so much my life and forever I want those days back when my mind was so open and clear I'm sorry so many have changed
There is a window within the 70’s where these songs stood out clearly and the instrumentation showed how rock music still had substance. The musicianship of Supertramp is pleasing to the ears. The interweaving of the voice parts ( fugues) are incredible. May the youth discover this great music and learn to appreciate it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers❤
My mum n dad used to do the 'big shop' every Friday afternoon. I'd ask them to keep my 50p p/w pocket money and write down the name of a song to buy on my behalf. No matter how old or random a tune may have been 99.9% of the time I'd get home from school and it'd be waiting for me. The Logical Song however, and for a totally unknown reason, was a struggle. Four Fridays on the trot I got home ridiculously more excited than the week before to face disappointment. On the fourth week my mum, bless her heart, got me a replacement (I assume because she could see my face each previous week and my sadness. I've never forgotten that feeling I had on the fifth week when it was acquired! I listened continuously for nearly an hour boring even my usually patient and tolerant parents, but it didn't get that much airplay at the time I thought and so I was absolutely gagging for those lyrics and that melody especially! Still an all-time favourite xx
The music from the 70s was superb. I believe it was because the economy was poor, and people sought fulfillment in music, resulting in some of the greatest songs and bands ever.
I wish I could date someone from the 70's mentality! Lol I was born in 67, where are the Good, Kind, Hardworking, Playful, Knew How 2 Bbq, & Made Love 2 Their Woman @ Nite Quietly & Passionately, until the leaves on the trees nearby fell off, Men? Lolol 🎉❤❤💃🤺
You said it in the beginning, the music was superb, period ! Economy had nothing to do with the bands and music being the greatest ever ! Its called talent 🙏
Today, I listen to this track aged 53 years. I was 9 when my step-father brought this album home. 44 years later, it remains one of my top ten albums. Thanks Chris, for all the fabulous music you brought into our home xx
I love this band from when I was a kid I've listened to them, 1975 I was alive to witness the genius of their music. How brilliant and beautiful they wrote together! Just as good as the Beatles and the Bee Gees
Soul, spirit, sensibility, compassion, althruisme, generosity, friendship, simplicity, communication, just a few things the people could learn listening this so blessed band...
This band, this song, this year of my sophomore year in high school is when music influenced me, then came Journey, The Car's, etc and the rest is history, I am forever living in the 80's.
as a teenage supertramp lover, this album was a commercial horror initially, but i warmed up to its pop sentimentality and would never deny them the millions
This album is bittersweet to me. The music was fantastic but it was a favorite of someone I looked up to that ended up committing suicide and now reminds me of him when I hear it. I miss him and wish I could tell him how much he was loved.
This LP is High fidelity analogue sound from a Thorens audiophile turntable, which is 'uncompressedwavmusic', and that is my name and my listening preference is natural high quality stereo analogue audio sound.
The A/D converter used is a Texas Instruments Burr Brown chip. The result is a PCM 48 Khz Wave uncompressed file but, unfortunately, RU-vid converts the audio track to an AAC 320 Kbits, that is still an high quality audio. No equalization or dynamic manipulation is made while recording from the vinyl.
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful A miracle, oh, it was beautiful, magical And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily Oh, joyfully, oh, playfully watching me But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible Logical, oh, responsible, practical Then they showed me a world where I could be so dependable Oh, clinical, oh, intellectual, cynical There are times when all the world's asleep The questions run too deep For such a simple man Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned? I know it sounds absurd Please tell me who I am I said, now, watch what you say, they'll be calling you a radical A liberal, oh, fanatical, criminal Oh, won't you sign up your name? We'd like to feel you're acceptable Respectable, oh, presentable, a vegetable Oh, take, take, take it, yeah But at night, when all the world's asleep The questions run so deep For such a simple man Won't you please (oh, won't you tell me) Please tell me what we've learned? (Can you hear me?) I know it sounds absurd (Oh, won't you tell me) please tell me who I am Who I am, who I am, who I am Ooh Hey 'Cause I was feeling so logical Yeah D-D-D-D-D-D-D-Digital Yeah, one, two, three, five Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah Ooh, it's getting unbelievable Yeah Getting, getting, yeah, yeah Uh, uh, uh, uh ❤❤❤❤❤
I used to have a 1972 recording of Supertramp on cassette , the only reason that that's remarkable . Is because pretty much everything else that came out in that time period was either on 8-track or LP .
Saw them perform ‘79 ‘Breakfast In America’ tour, have been to many concerts and rate it one of the top 5. So fantastic they sounded just like the album, what a great band this sounds heavenly!! Thank you! ❤
@@bobholness203 Oh Gosh it’s so hard to pick, Steely Dan, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, The Stones, Bad Company, Kris Kristofferson @ 80 yrs young, John Mellencamp w/ Donovan didn’t sit down the whole show~dancing and singing. See, I can’t do it too many to name. Supertramp live was enrapturing seats were up front and center, had to convince my friend Angie, to leave the venue after show she kept clapping and yelling wanting to get asked backstage to meet the band (maybe she was onto something?) 😂 great memory may she RIP. Funnily the song Goodbye Stranger describes that scenario perfectly. What are your top 5?
@@KittyGrizGriz I didn't get to see my favourites in prime time. 😔 I change a lot of the time. Springsteen McCartney Stones (voodoo lounge tour ) ELO My favourite and all time is Robert Plant. Watched him perform so many times. I know it's not Zeppelin. Still love his Solo work. Fantastic list you have 👍🏻😃 ( In the eye of the storm is a great album from Hodgson )
I vividly recall this 1976.....song. I was In h.s.in Illinois. This song ...Peter Frampton....Starland vocal band ...10cc We're main stay.....on then kslq radio Station.....in st.louis MO. I definitely Recall. !!!!!!
In 1976, I was 20. I witnessed a large portion of my graduating class die from the popular causes of that time. Later on I began to believe that I was somehow "immortal". Growing up Catholic. Knowing that "God has a plan for all of us". I managed to live this long. But have yet to receive a message from God regarding the "plan".
This Band Of Stories is A Real Gem in Your Collection "SuperTramp is One Of Them Truth Tellers You Learn From " Thats Been Around An Threw it All " Bravo SuperTramp "
One of the very GREATEST BAND in ALL MUSIC STORY since a LONG TIME .GENIUS is the term for definite SUPERTRAMP .Their Music is simply AMAZING ans TIMELESS too ,it ' s a fact...
I enjoy reading the comments people realizing that music from more then 50 years ago can seem new even though it’s not an people like it compared to the bs out now
Never heard of the brand before but I believe you, it looks beautiful here. Have my older~youngest brother’s Pioneer System~speakers and all. Rocked my lil’ socks off as a young girl. Our mom would shout from across the house “Put your earmuffs on!!”,,,her term for headphones 😛. He and I shared a bedroom wall and it would rattle, sweet musical memories.
Quite an amazing invention the Record Player. See how the stick moves with the vinyl to play the song. Spinning the vinyl like soft waves in the ocean...
I discovered Supertramp in my mid-20s in the mid 2000s, they started me down the path. I carry the message if “Crime of the Century” in my heart, always. Their lyrics at 100 times more relevant today, society has gone down a slippery slope since Roger wrote the album in his youth. “Watch what you say, they’ll be calling you a radical a liberal, fanatical a criminal.” The stakes are much higher today, all it can take is a single sentence on social media to destroy your life at the hands of a judgmental, hair trigger society.
Roger is a rare artist who feels like he’s written a song to support me as a personal friend in 2023. When he was only a teenager. Cold logic without feeling is a lie. It’s a bitter cake.
My Dad listened to this, now I listen to it. Unfortunately, the music he thought would bring us together has torn us apart. We had a falling out over a Deep Purple song! That's so stupid. That's how rock n roll kids and disfunctional rock n roll parents go I guess.
@@excrono Child in Time. When he wails it sounds like the crying I feel when he ignores me. I'm sorry he hates me cause I'm a lady. I have a brother (the golden child). I told Dad I wish I had a penis so he could love me too. He blames women for everything. He had a great mother, he's crazy.
Àquele tempo os jovens não viviam a obsseção de saltar nos olhos da gente seja o quê for,más sim de criar a própria imágem criando a arte que ajude á todos pensar, sonhar, despertar espiritualmente um mundo sempre confúso...
Music and musicians were not altered by modern social programming and conditioning that interfered with the respect for the artists. Modern youth are raised by computers, which do not need sleep, time to think, or what others will think. My heart goes out to this younger generation. Musicianship was meant to be enjoyed without social programming affecting the decision. The 60s and 70s reflected the artistry of rock. Opinions were of the music, and not whether it should be listened to.
