It’s fun watching a video recommending all the supplements I’m already taking😊-collagen peptides, hyaluronic acid, and B vitamins. Also, 1 1/2 hours of daily exercise (walking in the woods and dancing, both with music). I’m 71, but feeling pretty good, much better than I did at 50!

I'm 64, and have seen your comments on other videos. I love your message! It's spot on and I do all of these things because -they work! I'm living proof. Some will say, good genes, but both of my parents and all of my grandparents aged horribly. I learned early on that I did NOT want to age like them and took the time to learn as that I could about aging and did the work to age better. The results speak for themselves. I look like my mom did when she was in her early 30's. ( She aged rapidly) I am told I look to be in my early 50's. When I was in my 50's, I was told I looked to be in my early 40's. I'll take that! Nutrition, skin care and lifestyle are key. Stay beautiful and best wishes!

@@CherryMaraschino77 Sure, but as of yesterday, I’m on the road to visit my father (101) and sister (75), so brought most of my supplements in baggies (sans brands). I’ll be home around May 8-10. I take a lot of supplements. The collagen peptides are Vital Proteins brand, the B vitamins are general CVS, plus extra B-12; the hyaluronic acid is Horbach, I think (purchased via Amazon)…the bottle is at home! The list includes magnesium glycinate, calcium citrate, DMG (N-Dimethyl Glycine), R-alpha Lipoic Acid & Benfotiamine (combo), L-Tryptophan, L-Lysine, and as of recently NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine). Feel free to ask me again after I return home if you want a full list. I try to be careful with amounts, to not overdo it. Lots of vegetables, nuts & seeds, eggs and other quality protein, and whole grains for diet. By the way, I’m convinced daily exercise is crucial and the music keeps me happy. I worked up to it slowly, starting with a half-hour walk, and always aware of how my body is feeling. Everyone’s body is different, and for those in a lot of pain, doing any exercise is challenging (I’ve been there), but worth trying. 🙋‍♀️🌷

've been using niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and collagen peptides for about a year now and have seen a big difference in my skin. It holds moisture better and the wrinkles are much less noticeable. I apply these as independent serums, wait for them to be absorbed and then use volufiline on top of them. Volufiline is supposed to help these serums to go more deeply into the skin where they have better affect. Would you do a video on volufiline? If it doesn't do what it says, I'd like to know. In a podcast with one of the leading researchers on hyaluronic acid (Professor Vera Gorbunova), she stated that personally she would NOT consume hyaluronic acid produced by bacterial fermentation, due to concerns about the hyaluronic acid being contaminated with LPS (lipopolysaccharide). This is an endotoxin that will increase systemic inflammation. Instead, she says that hyaluronic acid derived from rooster combs is safer (literally just dried & ground up rooster combs) is safer in this regard. Based on my quick pubmed search, it seems that hyaluronic contamination with LPS/endotoxin is extremely common, and is to be expected I'd love it if you could look into this Brad. and greetings from central Auckland :)

@NathanielStickley
@NathanielStickley 5 месяцев назад
What about rutin? It apparently boosts collagen production... So maybe it could help increase the probability that the collagen peptides you ingest actually end up being turned into collagen. Some sorts of physical stimulation probably also increase the production of collagen. It's oftentimes not enough to have the chemical ingredients available; cells need to be given a reason (a stimulus) to use the ingredients, as with exercise and muscle growth.

Thank you, Dr. Brad, for all your helpful advice! I've been taking your Micro Vitamin for one month. I think it's having a wonderful effect on my skin (I'm 71 but look younger). As you recommend, I also exercise; use sunscreen; and take: collagen peptides, Do Not Age omega 3, and NAC supplements. And I follow your advice about serums and creams that contain niacinamide, ceramides, and retinoids (I use retinaldehyde). It would be great if you could do a video on at-home red light therapy for skin rejuvenation which has a fair amount of evidence-based research. The best masks are manufactured by Omnilux and sold under other brand names such as Light Salon and Higher Dose. The masks cost between $300 and $500 and use the red wavelength of 633 nm and the near-infrared of 830 nm. I use my masks for ten minutes each day.

I can vouch for Collagen Peptides. I'm in my late 50's, and since starting them 2mo. ago, currently on my 3rd 32oz container, my skin has tightened up all over my body. I used to be able to pull up the skin on the top of my hands and it would just stay there until I moved my hand or fingers. Today I noticed that I can't even grab that skin any longer, even if I try real hard and get a smidgeon, it pops right back down. I use one small scoop in every drink and I hope to see more results down the road.

@@teresalehtonen8499 DMAE is found naturally in fish but can be taken via a pill in a much higher concentration and dose. The reason I take pills (in addition to eating fish) is because DMAE pills temporarily raise your IQ about 5 points or so for around 6 to 8 hours. There are different aspects to intelligence but the aspect which DMAE affects is that it causes your ability to concentration and focus to increase. I started taking it regularly in college (Mechanical Engineering and Physics). There was also a study published (but I do not have reference to it) in the 1970's showing that mice aged 25% slower with DMAE. But there was another study that showed birds died 20% sooner when taking DMAE. But I am a mammal and not a bird so I have been taking it now for over 30 years. I can easily pass for 15 to 20 years younger than I am. The way DMAE works is that it speeds up the firing of the neurons in the brain. If you take too much of it in one shot, you will get major brain fog for about 6 to 8 hours. I take typically one to two pills in the morning and possibly another pill or two at night, depending on how I am feeling and what I am reading in the evening.
@lofm6213
@lofm6213 5 месяцев назад
@@teresalehtonen8499 One other thing, you will notice within about 20 minutes the effects of DMAE. If you have it with a coffee, it will raise your IQ about 10 points temporarily. It is great for cramming in college. If you do not notice an effect from it, try taking two pills. Huge dudes I know take even three pills but that would cause me to have brain fog (the opposite effect will happen because there will be a traffic jam in your head from too many neurons firing off at the same time).

This doesn’t address the point made in an earlier video about low molecular weight promoting inflammation. Are you saying that regardless of whether it’s high or low molecular weight, it all breaks down to low molecular weight? In which case it may all promote inflammation. Because looking at prices, the cost of a hydrolyzed collagen powder is almost the same as the cost of a hydrolyzed collagen peptide powder; but there's fewer options atm. Should we take the effort to always choose the peptide form of collagen?
@presence5426
@presence5426 6 месяцев назад
If it's a collagen powder, it's peptides. Meaning it was treated with enzymes. The other real options are gelatin or an undenatured product like UCII
@ElijsDima
@ElijsDima 5 месяцев назад
@@presence5426 Thanks. Yeah, after googling... it seems like it's just two different names for the same thing (hydrolyzed / peptides). Kinda weird that some brands use one naming and some - the other.
@presence5426
@presence5426 5 месяцев назад
@@ElijsDima It gets even more complicated. No matter what collagen product is ingested, it all gets broken up by gut enzymes. So we hydrolyze the collagen regardless. Question: is pre-hydrolyzed collagen (peptides) the best way to go? Many people think so. But unhydrolyzed or even "raw" collagen could have advantages.

2022 review entitled “Myths and media in oral collagen supplementation for the skin, nails, and hair” in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology concluded that “Dermatologists should be aware of the unsubstantiated proclamations of collagen made by companies [which] surpass any evidence currently supported by the literature.” And, given the insufficient evidence, “collagen cannot be routinely recommended at this time” Moreover, the evidence is considered to be “particularly unconvincing” when compared to methods more definitely shown to have a positive effect on skin collagen, such as sunscreen use, smoking cessation, and a healthy plant based diet.

For astaxanthin the stated study says: ''In conclusion, our study suggests that long-term prophylactic astaxanthin supplementation may inhibit age-related skin deterioration and maintain skin conditions associated with environmentally induced damage via its anti-inflammatory effect.'' Just write the title in google to find the study. Also it depends on what kind of astaxanthin because many are not very bio-available... They also state a conflict of interest...

Research based primarily on cell lines are called in vitro because it is not tested as a part in a living organism.
