Josh 'The Ponceman' Perry is perhaps best known for starring in the web series "The Retarded Policeman", as well as major projects like 'Looper', "Shameless", 'Coffee Town', and many others.
This was the first episode in which Kenny and I were able to really do an in-depth interview with our subject, spending several days with Josh and his family.

I came to RU-vid tonight with the question “What’s the Retarded Policeman doing now?” And I am not disappointed with what I found. This was amazing. -Thanks for making it.

Just so sad that so much of his work has been removed because of the nature of what he and his brother joke about I really hope there is a bright future for him as an actor I would love to see more of him. I know this channel has not been active for a good while but I hope you see this because you did a wonderful job with this video.

This man wakes up every morning with somethings he's passionate about and he has it in him to chase it ... Not all of us have that many people go there entire lives without a dream that they believe is worth fighting for ... I respect Josh Perry not just because of the obvious obstacles he's had to overcome but because he saw exactly what he wanted to do and he went for it and I adore his family for encouraging him

I have thoroughly enjoyed Josh's work in Retarded Policeman since they were new and I was eagerly anticipating the release of subsequent episodes... I went looking for a particular episode earlier tonight and was shocked & upset to see that the originals were taken down. Once I found out WHY I became disgusted & incensed at the mediocre mind responsible. However, experiencing this beautiful portrait of how one unique life can touch so many simply by being authentic, genuine, and present, moment by moment, is wonderful.

Starring in a film beside Cloris Leachman is a big accomplishment. Now Josh can hold onto that accolade and ask all the people who joked him, “Just did a film starring Cloris Leachman. What have you bitches done with your life?” Good job Josh. Keep those acting chops charp my man

I wish I was rich so I could help with your vision. Thank you for thinking of this Supporting Actor Spotlight. And this episode, I didn't really want to see. I thought it would be sad and yet I did cry but not because of Josh but because of his brother. He doesn't want anyone to limit his brother. I cried because Scott's battle is a big fight. A lot of people give pity instead of opportunities.

I have a moderately autistic daughter that I have raised to rise above and not use her disability as an excuse. We used terms like "retarded" when she was growing up, and made a joke out of it. It paid off when we were shopping! Some guy yelled "she's retarded", she simply looked at him and told him that HE was the one that was retarded! I also have a nephew with "Assburger" syndrome that my sister had coddled all his life I showed him the Retardid Policeman Assburger video, it showed him that he is more capable than he thought he was! THANK YOU Josh! I once heard a comedian say that it's the people closest to the the person with a disability that gets offended, not the one with the disability.

They're cool. I think the Ponce is really cool and I think they'd be great friends. Some people can actually victimize people with their overbearing butt-hurtedness. This is an interesting discussion to me because I grew up physically disabled but only got diagnosed autistic in my 30s, so I'm really comfortable using the term cripple. I grew up using it with my crippled mates. I LIKE that it makes people uncomfortable, that makes it feel powerful. But I'd say I definitely have an internal discomfort with the word retard I think precisely because it's not a word I feel I'm "allowed" to say even though it sometimes gets used for people like me too. But when the brothers talk about assholes being assholes, it doesn't matter what term they use, it reminds me of the meme that's like "I beg you, please just call me a slur". I feel that way about how "acoustic" gets used online. Omg just say retarded, just say you think someone seems retarded because you're trying to be mean. Retard was the polite word, it replaced things like imbecile and idiot. But it became a slur simply because people are cunts about disabled people. The attitude towards us in society is the problem and the words for us are going to keep becoming insults then super taboo slurs because no one is bothering to fix the root of the problem. Every kind euphemism will become yet another insult if society keeps just fucking hating disabled people. One time I got told by someone not to refer to MYSELF as disabled and had the audacity to try to correct me and tell me "actually, it's differently abled". Like even if the consensus amongst the community wasn't that disabled was the preferred term, how can you tell ME how to talk about MYSELF. And I think it belies a lack of familiarity with disability. People are more touchy around things they're uncomfortable with and I think that can manifest in how normies try to police our language. They think we need protecting, even from our own vocabulary.

It's so true regarding words and their meanings. Retarded was the socially acceptable term for a while. Then special needs. Then whatever else. People think if they can just get the term right people won't ever be able to use it to cause emotional pain. Never going to happen. It's like Josh said, its the intentions more than the word.
