they are exactly the same. strength, ratios, everything. which is why the Sz-r demands similar prices to twin turbo cars. the trans makes the supra expensive. the GTE on it's own is nothing when we're talking price. you can get those much easier than you can hope of finding a V160. That and they also come with the equally expensive and rare TRD twin turbo option Differential that is good for 197mph on the factory redline in JDM models. unfortunately they're second best as the American version twin turbo diff is good for over 200mph on the factory redline. but simply revving to 8000 on a built motor will make either rear end exceed 200mph which is plenty fast to rearrange your equallibrium 2JZGTE longblock: $2500. complete. V160 by itself: $7-12000

do you have any issues with engagement? its a clunky transmission by nature due to the beefy gear sets. I wouldn't recommend opening it up if there is no actual problems.

I notice 2nd when cold is a bit hesitant to shift into. I also noticed when going into 3rd from 2nd can sometimes miss. It's as if the shifter jams? I am hearing from others that it's the pressure plate fingers that may be fucked and thus making the noise. Is it possible for the noise to transfer to the rear end of the tranny where I am hearing the noise when under the car?
