I just don't know why BMW had built a 2.0L 4 cylinder if it has already the better/premium 3.0L V6. That',s crazy. That 4 cylinder should have put in the Yaris instead. The problem with that Nissan GTR has always been the weight. It's always so heavy & bulky for the power it generated. That's why it's always beaten by other cars in terms of speed like some of the BMW M's CS, Audi R8 & Porsche 911's. 😧

@Justen G I don’t know about that because the most expensive Nissan for sale costs a lot more than the most expensive BMW on today’s market. BMW doesn’t even have any cars that breaks the $200K mark yet. Not even the i8. •Nissan GT-R Nismo starts $210K •BMW M8 Competition starts $141K

@Justen G That’s because the Supra is new and the 370Z is 12 years old. The new 400Z with 400hp will blow the doors off of the 382hp Supra. A stock M5 can not beat a stock GT-R, not on a drag and never on a track. What’s BMW’s best Nürburgring time vs Nissan’s ring time? Didn’t think so.

@Justen G oh puhleeze, you’re just in denial. Any official sources shows the M5 is in the low 11s or high 10s while a Nismo GT-R is about 0.2s quicker. The old RB26 is a better block than the 2JZ and the new VQ is still better than the B58. BMW doesn’t even have a dedicated sports car platform, all are shared and derived from sedan/suv.

@@lordmaster5522 Sorry, the RB block is not better than a 2jz block. The RN N1 isn't, nor is the GT500 RB block. I love nissans and still admit the 2jz is a better block. Check out motive video on YT, they measure a 2jz vs a RB30 vs a Barra. They also measure RB26 variants in a different vid.

Knew the Godzilla was going to win, but that Supra was still barely keeping up with the GTR. Even the GTR has AWD and about 200 HP more than the Supra. Respect for both cars! Both great cars IMO.

@@doggedlydetermined7022 Agreed. The electric forklift at work tells me all I need to know about EV vehicles, BORING!! I'd never drive one of those just for the sake of driving. As I sit now I just sold my jack of all trades WRX hatch and got a 4Runner. (needed more ground clearance, better 4WD ability, wanted remote start, ect.) In a few years I'm going to buy a pure sports car just for the purpose of being fun to drive since I'm going the 2 car route now. It WILL be a manual trans though.......so right now I want to see what the Nissan 400Z (or just "Z" they might call it) has to offer, or maybe a Camaro SS. EV vehicles aren't on my radar, at all. In retirement I know I'll end up eventually getting a damned EV when that is the only option I have :/

Some things never change. This has always been the result, and it always will be. Heck, even when in the 90s the GT-R had less power than the Supra it still accelerated faster because of AWD. These new toys are just monsters comparatively

This is why I don’t trust car reviews anymore. The Nissan GT-R never does a time slower than 3 seconds 0-60 for 14 years now, until the Supra came back. Now you tell me a Supra that run 0-60 in 4 seconds beats it in a drag race. I will never subscribe. Fake, fake, fake!!! Sad to say. I don’t know what the writers get out of bashing Nissan, we just really want the truth, so we can decide which car to buy.

As amazing as the GTR is for 60k less you could buy 10k in upgrades easily bringing that Supra over 600hp and a new truck to tow your Supra to track days and with those upgrades the GTR would lose. 😀

Supra is not JDM, and is way overpriced imho. Also, if you are tall good luck getting in and out without detaching your head. Then there is the terrible buffeting if you attempt to use the windows. I will gladly wait for the new Nissan Z. Will be a much better vehicle.

The previous Supra could hold it's own against a more expensive Corvette and the Twin Turbo 300Z of the same era. The new Supra can't remotely touch the new Corvette and will compete directly against the new Nissan Z that will be nearly 10k cheaper with potentially better performance...

The Z isn't even out yet nor are the official prices out for it either and none of its real stats have come from Nissan yet either nor has anyone done tests between both to really say the Z's better. Heck it'll probably come out next year for all we know and toyo could already have a mk5 with another power bump once the 22 mk5 comes around with who knows what else done once the Z comes around. And in the corvettes case its rare to see them under 70k and even then most are higher than that or are still mark up still while mk5s remain in the 50s or dip down into the 40s.

That being said, because Nissan was smart in using an already existing platform, engine and transmission it cut their development costs significantly. This will translate to a much lower price than the Supra. Sure, Supra prices could drop again but I doubt it due to their partnership with BMW.

It would kinda be unfair to the Toyota Supra, as at the end of the day the Honda and Nissan are supercars (they also cost a lot too) and have a lot more power, whereas the Toyota is just a sports car.

This is an amazing test for reals, but you gotta test it in the track. Corner speeds are just as important if not more than straight line speed. Especially considering how both their drivetrains perform, plus they're made for that type of racing.

GTR still crushes the LFA. LFA is 3.6 seconds to 60mph. Nismo GTR is factory 2.8. LFA sounds incredible though.

I love the overall look of the body of the Supra, however the nose of the GT-R looks better and mean. The arse of the GT-R looks too big or looks odd to me… Based on this video Older is again better than Newer, just like my wheelchairs
