depends on the desired effect. against civilian targets and structures the heatwave & airblast is more effective if it blows in the air. against hardened targets you want it nearer the ground.
@@MrJay_White If you're target is an underground bunker you want to shoot the nuke like a bunkerbuster, in other words lodge that thing as deep underground and then detonated, actual thing irl
@Blood Celes The Addon SC:Forged Alliance works by far better than the main version but it has some disadvantage according to the game balancing if you want to use nukes and play single player only.
I am playing sc: forged alliance. Issue with the game is when you play with AI the AI has a memory leak in it that ends up destroying the game late game. Only way to fix it mostly is to play 2on2 or 1on1. anything higher with a 30+ minute game, the game will drop to a crawl.
This is not a memory leak. This game uses only 1 core of your CPU. A single core must calculate trajectories, damage, reclaim and orders, AIs tend to give order to each unit they have. So you can imagine in late game when they have 100+ units an each unit gets his own commands and as i said game uses only 1 core, so your single core struggles. It gets ever worse with a laptop, cause CPUs there are slower then PC`s, and they tend to overheat and start throttling(droping the frequency), so game slowes down even more. So as a result, the only way how you can help yourself play with AI is to overclock your or buy a new CPU that will have higer per cor performance.
You are half correct. What you said is right, but the reason for the slowdown is because those orders continue even for dead units which is why the slow down starts till the game crashes. Overclocking and stuff wont solve anything with this game. Though I will pass along I found a mod called "LOUD" for the game that solves the slowing down completely. I've played full games with up to 12 AI's with barely a slowdown till roughly like 2-3 hours in which is to be expected with that much.
dude is this on supreme commander or supreme commander forged alliances also can you tell me all the mods your using like how do the nuke silos look like an actual rocket launch?
FA and sadly these were so old I have no dam clue what the mods were. I recommended "Loud" mod for FA it's really good. For the effects I believe it's firey explosions mod. Im not 100% sure, but it was the one i liked the most for effects.
@@wittledragon1314 thanks so much for the quick reply that no worries if you can't remember, I just got into these games and you have the best videos for these battles they look awesome with all the smoke effects from the rockets xD
@@wittledragon1314 just trying to find the mod that makes those nuke launches so awesome if you could find it that would be great, I've been searching the internet for ages xD
@@joeearly4337 www.moddb.com/mods/firey-explosion-mod/downloads - hopefully youtube doesnt eat it. but just incase. google "supreme commander FA firey explosions mod" it'll be the first link
@@jalliboy Kind of yes, kind of not - depends on context. But indeed, most of the time "SupCom" is the preferred short for Supreme Commander. Yet, when coming to the comment section under a SupCom video, into a debate on differences between different entries in SupCom games... it's unreasonable to call out "SC" as "Star Craft", because you cannot expect an abbreviation to be bound to one term only. Otherwise, what would stop me from calling You out on using SimCity (1989) abbreviation for StarCraft (1998)?
The game doesnt have much lore on it but many estimate around 15 megatons for the nuke and one person put in a lot of calculations to around 46 megatons for the nuke. Based on a "nuclear calculator" the explosion in the video is around 70 megatons according to it. Hope that helps. XD
@@wittledragon1314 Sad face here :(((, The bug is so annoying, so sad they didn't fix it....i play on FAF launcher. They fixed it a bit, but sometimes the bug appear. . Edit : You are still replying to my comments, this video is already 8 years old. You got a new subscriber :)
That map is 81 kilometers to a side. And the ' blast radius' earlier refferd to is not the size of the fireball. Its the siize of the overpressure-wave. That thing was comparable to a Tsar.
+I need no channel youtube! that is fascinating, very fascinating, i wanna find out how much dirt a tsar would vaporise if detonated t ground level, so i can guess as to how much damage a nuke that big would have on structures that large, because i have the sneaking suspicion that at least a t1 tanks gun would put a modern warship gun to shame, maybe, just thinking of the size of those things and correspondingly their armor, but before i begin arguing about their armour being composites to try and get around sinking into the ground weight ranges, i think i should end my comment here.
