I was a social worker for 5 years. I was told to not accept gifts so it couldn’t be used against me as like a bribe. And it creates favoritism between clients. I love that I had more integrity and accountability over me than the Supreme Court judges

The Supreme Court doesn’t rule over criminal cases. They decide on the constitutionality of cases they choose to take. And these rulings can lead to cases being dismissed or sustained. So they don’t sentence people to prison. My layman’s perspective.

Extremely disappointed to hear Thomas has accepted so many gifts. You can't even gift popcorn to local County Departments for Christmas because it is seen as unethical!!!

If he is legally allowed to accept the gifts, and he thinks they did not sway him, then he would be a fool to not accept the gifts. It does look bad, but it does not necessarily follow that he is corrupt. Did any of the donors benefit from his rulings? Has he ever turned down a gift because it swayed him? As long as the gifts did not influence him and were not bribes, then I do not blame him for accepting them. I think a lot of good people do genuinely like Clarence Thomas a lot. So, I am not convinced one way or the other at this point.
