Today I tested the Max Range on my Sur Ron. I rode this thing nonstop as fast as I could, through some really aggressive terrain. I have the stock battery, controller, tires, and wheels. Not to mention, my battery is the original battery that came with this bike 3 years ago, now has 650 miles! I'm really stoked with the results, I had no idea that this bike was so capable.
Let me know what you guys think of this electric bike. I've been riding gas bikes since the 80's , not sure I'll ever go back now I have a Sur Ron!

You are lucky to get 27 miles. I regularly get 15 miles on full power, and I can limp it another 5 miles on Eco mode. This is about the same before I added the BAC4000 with 54T rear sprocket and after-there wasn't much difference in range. Here in Utah the single track I ride is technical, alot of uphill switch backs...etc. Very disappointing in my opinion. I can ride for about an hour before I risk ending up stranded or damaging the cells.

My Sur-Ron X went 27 (SLOW and intermediate) trail miles and had 19% battery left. Regen was on level 2, elevation change was about 1000' (total guess).

Max distance at 4000/7000W with 54T, switching between 4000w and 7000w or about halftime on each, the most I ever got was 20 miles. If I run 7000W my max distance is 15 miles.

27 miles on the GPS or on dash display? There is a difference when you change sprockets.

Am I correct in thinking the mileage will be off due to the larger sprocket and the fact sur Ron's read high anyway?

yes you're correct. One of the reasons i have a Talaria on order. You can correct that with the display on it.

Does the suspension/brakes feel good enough for the power ?

Surprisingly yes, the forks are downhill bike equipment, and the rear suspension is basically a toned down larger dirt bike suspension. Big brakes too, stops on a dime! I actually sold my WR450F to buy this SurRon. You can just go more places than you can with a gas bike

The first thing I did on my Sur Ron was replace the crap front fork with a Manitou Dorado and even then I wished I would have gone with a Cr85 front end-more travel, more rigidity and better braking options. The rear shock is just OK, there's not a big reason to upgrade it. The brakes on this bike stock, suck. Plan on spending $100 on front/rear brake pad upgrades, PLUS an oversized rotor for the front.

How many feet of climbing did you do. Climbing is gonna use way more battery

I know this was 5 months ago but im getting a sur ron and its will be stock out the factory and if i only go 10mph or max 15mph how long will i be able to ride and how far would i be able to ride

Ya don't get one of these for max range. An ebike will go further and you'll be able to put it on buses to cover sketchy highways you don't want to ride.
