Surah Al-Haqqah (The Reality) - A Powerful Reminder of the Day of Judgement
Arabic Text:
الحَقَّةُ
١ هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
٢ وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
٣ عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِحَةٌ
٤ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ
٥ فَهُمْ فِي رَوْحٍ وَفِي رَوْضَةٍ نَّعِيمٍ
٦ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ عَنِ الْغَاشِيَةِ
٧ مَا هِيَ الْغَاشِيَةُ
٨ قُلْ هِيَ الْعَذَابُ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
٩ إِنَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُهِينًا
١٠ وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
١١ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنَّا نُوعَدُ
١٢ وَقَدْ حَذَّرَنَا رَبُّنَا وَقَدْ جَاءَنَا رُسُلُهُ
١٣ فَالْيَوْمَ هُمْ يَتَوَقَّعُونَ
١٤ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمَ الْغَاشِيَةِ
١٥ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتِ الْغَاشِيَةُ
١٦ فَسُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْقُوَّةِ
١٧ إِنَّمَا هُوَ قَوْلٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإِذَا هُوَ شَاهِدٌ
١٨ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعَجِّزِينَ
١٩ أَفَمِنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَتَّعِظُونَ
٢٠ فَالْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تُجْرَوْنَ
٢١ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ
٢٢ فَهُمْ فِي جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ
٢٣ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
٢٤ مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ
٢٥ قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
٢٦ وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ
٢٧ وَكُنَّا نَخوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ
٢٨ وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
٢٩ حَتَّى أَتَانَا الْيَقِينُ
٣٠ فَمَا نَفْعُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
٣١ وَمَا نَفْعُ الْقُرْآنِ
٣٢ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَخْلُصُ لِأَحَدٍ مِّنَ الْقُرْآنِ
٣٣ بَلْ كَذَّبْتُمْ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَكُمْ
٣٤ فَكَانَ عَذَابُ رَبِّكُمْ مُسْتَحَقًّا
٣٥ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنشَأَكُمْ وَسَوَّاكُمْ
٣٦ فَكَيْفَ تُكَذِّبُونَ
٣٧ أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَلَتْهَا
٣٨ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ
٣٩ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ النَّعِيمِ
٤٠ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًا
٤١ قُلْ لَوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَادًا لِكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّي لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبِّي وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِ مَدَدًا
٤٢ إِنَّمَا هُوَ قَوْلٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإِذَا هُوَ شَاهِدٌ
English Translation:
The Reality
1. Has the news of the Overwhelming Event reached you?
2. On that Day, faces will be humbled,
3. Working hard, but in vain.
4. But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds,
5. They will be in a state of joy and bliss in a beautiful garden,
6. Asking each other about the Overwhelming Event.
7. "What is the Overwhelming Event?" they will ask.
8. Say, "It is the punishment you were promised."
9. For the disbelievers, there is a humiliating torment.
10. And those who believed will say,
11. "This is what we were promised!"
12. Our Lord indeed warned us, and His messengers came to us.
13. So today, they await it.
14. Truly, this is the Day of the Overwhelming Event.
15. And the Overwhelming Event has come.
16. Glorified is your Lord, the Lord of Power!
17. It is only one Word, and then - behold! - it is manifest.
18. You will not be able to avert it.
19. Is it from this narration that you derive wisdom?
20. Today, you shall be recompensed for what you did.
21. But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds,
22. They will be in the Garden of Bliss.
23. They will ask about the criminals,
24. "What brought you to the Hellfire?"
25. They will say, "We were not among those who prayed,
26. Nor were we among those who fed the poor,
27. We used to engage in idle talk with those who engaged in it,
28. And we used to deny the Day of Judgment,
29. Until the Truth came to us."
30. So of what benefit will the Overwhelming Event be to them?
31. And of what benefit will the Quran be to them?
32. We used to reject the Quran.
33. Nay, you rejected the Truth when it came to you.
34. So the punishment of your Lord is inevitable.
35. It is He who created you and shaped you.
36. How then can you deny it?
37. Do they not ponder over the Quran, or are their hearts locked?
38. Truly, those who believed and did righteous deeds,
39. They will have Gardens of Bliss,
40. Abiding eternally therein. They will never desire to leave them.
41. Say, "If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would surely run dry before the words of my Lord are exhausted, even if we brought another sea like
