In Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayahs 282-283, Allah emphasizes the importance of documenting financial transactions, especially when giving loans for a fixed period. The borrower should write down the agreement justly, and witnesses should be present. If the borrower is unable, a trusted person should write on their behalf. In case of informal trade or urgent transactions, writing isn’t necessary, but witnesses are still encouraged. If in travel and no scribe is available, a pledge should be taken as security. Honesty, trustworthiness, and fear of Allah in such matters are strongly stressed.
