When it comes to EDC (Every Day Carry) Flashlights, there are a lot of options. SureFire has managed to bring together a lot of great elements in their EDCL1-T Flashlight.
For starters, the light has 2 running modes, 5 lumens and 500 lumens. Not a bunch of useless setting in between that the user has to scroll through.
The light also happens to have the best switch technology of any EDC Light I've ever used. It uses a push through tail cap. Light pressure gives you momentary 5 lumens. More pressure will give you momentary 500 lumens. As soon as you let go, the light turns off. If you need constant on, you can twist the tail cap for 5 or 500 lumens.

I used to carry the Surefire E1B backpack everyday. I recently got an olight S1R 2 and man it is so much brighter, lighter, rechargeable and more functional. I can keep it in a jean pocket much less noticeably and it has multiple output modes. The half lumen is great for going in my kids room when they are sleeping. 1000 lumens almost on turbo mode and I just recharge it off my anker power station I have for my phone if it ran out of juice and I couldn’t tether it to a wall outlet or computer. I love my Surefire but olight has definitely stepped up the edc light game. Reversible clip to mount on a hat AND magnetic tail cap

Right! Olight destroys surefire in the value category. Surefire makes excellant lights no doubt but they are generally overpriced by $100 or more. EDIT***** I rescind my comment, still expensive but this light is priced pretty dam good for a surefire. $125. (Still stick with olight being the highest value bang for your buck though)

SureFire lights are amazing! I still have mine that was given to me before we deployed and that sucker lit up like Christmas. Unfortunately it had only one setting which I call sunblast so it was not great for every situation. I dig the multiple modes that this one has and you can’t go wrong with a SureFire 👍🏼

Man, I really like that push-through. Make the light pen sized, rechargeable, and have have a deep-recessed click, and then takes my moneys.

I just came across your channel and I love the way you review these lights with lit targets taking a couple shots and comparing them. I own the edcl1-t and must say I love the beam pattern over the more floody options. I also have some olights but I really love the surefire tailcap and the light just feels so solid compared to other lights. I got some m1t olights coming from a black Friday deal so I'm very excited to see how those are in hand since none of my other olights have a tail switch. Thank you for all of your great work 👍👍

Check out Pflexpro - if youre ok with using 18650 or 18350 batteries. Potted electronics, can customize the modes to whatever you want for the most part. Lots of options.

Nice light. I've considered getting it I just believe it is to big for a x1 CR123 light for my personal EDC needs. Currently I carry a 4sevens AAA pen light that puts out 200 lumens. I've been eyeballing an upgrade to that light with a Streamlight 1L-1AA possibly. Thanks for the review.

I'd suggest a Streamlight that takes one or the other. In my experience, and a friends, once you put AAs into it, the spring won't be strong enough to run a CR123. At which point, if they have a solid option that isn't duel fuel, I'd lean on that. Thanks for watching!

The activation sounds great. The twist for constant on is a non-issue in my option for the reasons you mentioned. I really like two way clips as well. I have a FourSevens Mini MkII as my EDC light and it lacks the push button tail cap; it only has a twist function. It is quite a bit smaller though so it lives on my keychain. Compromises.

Agreed on the compromises. There are some great small lights, that serve 99% of the needs of a EDC light.

Kit Badger I actually did an IDPA shoot with it. I didn’t know there was a “night” course of fire that night. Not as slick with the twist, but once on I was able to use it.

I didn't get it. Push-through mean i push it half way it is low light and if i keep pushing it deeply it will be more light? Or it is same as streamlight , so it switch mode if I push twice fast?

When you push the tail cap in, it is on low, 5 lumens. If you push deeper, through that setting, it turns on the 500 lumes. No clicks or trying to tap the tail-cap nonsense. Does that make sense?

This and the Streamlight 1L-1AA would make a great comparison video. Honestly, although less lumens on paper, I’d guess the 1L-1AA gives the EDCL1-T a serious run for its money.

so guys, is this light blinding? i want it for self defense and i basically want the strongest light possible in the smallest package possible. Anyways, does this blind temporarily if i shine it into persons eyes? Thank you

There are brighter lights out there. Not a good self defense strategy though. Bright light isn’t a solution to that problem.

I had the original EDC1 but gave it away as a gift. I just bought a new one and they upgraded (more like downgraded) it with the same type of tailcap as the Tactician with a stupid lanyard loop/clip. Why does Surefire still think everyone wants a lanyard, talk about useless. They ruined this light if you ask me, why change out a perfect tail cap on a perfect EDC flashlight, why! Only Surefire thinks rocking a lanyard is still 1990's cool, they are living in the past.

@@KitBadger I don't know I'm just trolling you so i can get on the instagram. Also I have the edl2-t and the clip broke a couple weeks ago. I called surefire, and they shipped me a new one no charge, no questions. Once they bend i have found they don't hold up very well after you bend them back. I wish thyrm would make the switchback for it with one of their clips on it.
