The fact the turbo fits all my current X300U light bearing holsters makes it an easy decision to buy for me.

X300Ultra is more durable then the x300 Turbo. 3 reviewers so far have broken them from a shoulder height drop test.

Their holsters are fantastic. I’m a bigger guy, and I carry appendix with two extra mags using their radius mag carriers, and M6 AIWB holster. I’m also taking a class with Fieldcraft Survival this weekend using their M7 OWB. Their orders are QC’d and have a handwritten “Thank you!” On the packing slip. Werkz is world class. 10/10

Super high quality content as usual, especially in regards to incorporating audience feedback. The "consistency" tests are especially informative. SF seems to still be putting out some really high-end lights despite the complaints that they (previously) were not focusing enough on candela.
@WerkzHolsters

Thanks for your positive feedback! I'm glad you find the consistency test helpful. I think a lot of people are overwhelmed with lumens & candela. I then add consistency and CRI, and I think it's hard to put those specs into context.

Great video and review. I appreciate how you break down and analyze the technical details beyond just stating them like some others do. It is important to see the differences side by side. I was suprised to see the pictures showed the X300T to be more floody than I was expecting, especially compared to the X300U. The 300U lives on my duty pistol, and I have been happy with it overall. I will admit though that this video does get me closer to picking up a Turbo, especially as it still fits in the same holsters! One thing I do wish Surefire would do is make their weaponlights compatible with rechargeable batteries. I don't enjoy having to go through disposables too much, but the pair of CR123s last me several months with my current usage so overall, it's only a minor annoyance.
@WerkzHolsters
@WerkzHolsters 2 года назад
David, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the U-boat. I was also surprised how much flood I got from the Turbo. However, the candela at 10 degrees between U & T are quite different (2100cd versus 280cd). The pictures don't seem to show that much difference, but I invite you to check out the data at lowlightdefense.com/ (you can read exact numbers at 5, 10, etc degrees) before making the final jump.

@j.n.8745
@j.n.8745 11 месяцев назад
@@samueljasso3203 The OKW is best suited for situations where extreme throw is needed. If you want a balance of flood and throw, then I would go with the PLHv2 light. For use with handheld, I use the Thyrm Switchback. The switchback is an excellent add on. It allows me to grab my handheld from my vest with my index finger. The OKW allows me to penetrate most photonic barriers. The Surfire weapon light gives me far reaching and tight beam. Very good at distance. All of these are out of my own pocket. All lights issued to me for duty are inferior and do not meet my standards. It is my life and those I work alongside. It is worth the investment for your safety and it will always be yours ti use after you retire. Also, I have to search large areas: shorelines, waterways, open lots and construction sites, residential alarms. It gives me the advantage.

I ask myself if any manufacturers plan on using the "new" Osram LEDs like the CSLNM1.TG or CULPM1.TG (yes, Osram's model names are a mouthful). They offer absolutely insane candela ratings even in small reflectors, but unlike LEPs, they are not exclusively pigeonholed in throw and actually offer a measure of wide-angled spill. Just food for thought. Thank you guys for another great production! I'm not American, I have extremely limited access to firearms and doubt I'll purchase a holster for a pistol w/ light for the foreseeable future, but I share the "flashlight turbonerd" angle with y'all and these reviews and comparisons are genuinely fun to watch. You bet I'm subbed! Now, a suggestion: how do mounted lights synergise with _revolvers?_ And how does it behave with holsters? Because I myself rarely ever see a revolver with a mounted gunlight despite wandering a lot trough gun channels and other such social media.

Sounds like I could use a good LED "state of the industry" overview -- you obviously know a lot more than I do in this area. Sorry to hear you're in an area where firearms aren't as available. I think there may be picatinny rail adapters for some revolvers so you can mount a light, but I'm not an expert there either. Blessings!

I am extremely skeptical of using a gun light as a pain compliance weapon. What if a guy charges you when you were expecting him to be dazzled? You might be at a very close distance to him, and the moment it takes you to re-evalute the situtation, he's already on top of you. Pain compliance should only be used when there is no imminent threat, it's not your first line of defense against an imminent threat.

So the colour temperature of the new x300 turbo lights is cool white? Is it cooler white than tlr 1 HL??

@eparch2144 2 года назад
@@WerkzHolsters Thanks. I have one of your holsters for my G45. I asked about getting one for my G20. Someone at Werkz told me it was forthcoming (I won't provide exact quote). I like SureFire quality, just wish they had a laser option closer to the muzzle. X400 laser below the light isn't a good option IMHO. Despite dubious quality, I will probably just buy an Olight with laser until Surefire gets their design act together ... unless anyone knows of a better option?
@WerkzHolsters
@WerkzHolsters 2 года назад
@@eparch2144 Yep... same answer here. Working on it, but don't have an exact launch date. Watch the website... you'll probably see G20 come up as an option, then after that you'll start to see them appear. We'll probably also post a launch video on YT once we have the design set filled out (including at least one Olight).

The fact that SF still hasn't jumped to 18350 is embarrassing.
@Zel_eo

It's was easier to find cr123 in foreign countries that we were fighting in than 18350. Same reason Eotech runs on it. The military could source them locally if need be. Now that the wars are over RD will probably be working on designs using better batteries. I pray every day for a longer battery life eotech lol.

I was wondering when this video was going to come out! I contemplated this light but I feel that for a pistol mounted light I want more flood. I have my handheld Modlight OKW for throw if I need reach or light domination. To me I think if you’re using a pistol mounted light it’s likely the only light you’re going to be using AT THAT MOMENT and because of that having a light with flood is more useful for pistol engagement ranges. The X300U-B will remain on my pistols. Just my thought process.
@WerkzHolsters
@WerkzHolsters 2 года назад
My thought is that I want reasonable flood and max candela. I wouldn't do a straight LEP with a super narrow angle. When viewing the comparison pictures between the "floody" X300U versus the "throwy" X300T in this video, I think the Turbo does a good job at flood. The candela at angle data shows at 10 degrees the X300U is about 2100cd, and the X300T is only 280cd, but it seems that there is still enough flood to see the areas around including the beams and the table to camera right. Regardless, well done carrying a handheld plus a pistol light! You're in a rare crowd with that level of preparedness. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
@Stealther
@Stealther 2 года назад
@@WerkzHolsters after reading your reply I went back to review the footage and you’re right. At least in this example,the flood seems closer to the x300U than the data would have you believe. Maybe I’ll add a Turbo the collection to compare firsthand. I appreciate your scientific approach to providing the public with actual data we can use to make informed purchases!

DG switch: the other half of the X300...

@WerkzHolsters 2 года назад
I think that's an excellent topic. Want to weigh in on why (or why not) to run the DG switch? Anyone?
@George-bb9yi
@George-bb9yi 2 года назад
@@WerkzHolsters The DG switch lets you use your weapon light one handed if you are wounded or need to hang on to something. You activate the switch with your middle finger. I thought the concept was silly, but it works really well. The bad news is added cost, and if you run a retention holster it will eventually tear up the switch so use tape or heat shrink to protect the wire.
