The tracer works best in a closed loop situation by plugging the light into the outlet it allows current to flow through the circuit and hence a stronger signal to trace. Hope that helps Ron
Hello Mr. Ron, I am from Brazil and bought a product part 61-959, I would like to know if there are conditions to locate the leak voltage and how should I do it please.
Hey great to hear from you. I am not sure what you mean by leak voltage but watch the playlist I have up there are about 15 videos up on how to use the product. Also you can check out the microsite on the tester idealcircuit-tracer.com/ Afterward if you have a question let me know. You bought a pretty good tracer. Good luck. Ron
Thank you for answering this quickly. I really appreciate your support and I meant current leakage (I don't know if this is the translation for the technical term). So, what I need to know is how to detect electrical current flowing through any undesired way, such cable shielding or screws due to any bare wire, for example. If possible, could you gently tell what video regards this subject?
Sounds like you are needing to find a short in the cable. Here is the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-58n-f1bEDss.html Just make sure to turn off the power then use an OHM meter to figure out which conductors are shorted and then use the tracer to find the short. As always hire an electrician if you need to. Take care Ron
If you want to buy one let me know and I will get someone to contact you to double check you can get one in Taiwan. Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
I have an outlet in a residence bathroom that has lost power, Should I be able to connect the transmitter to the what would be the hot (black) wire and the other to the ground wire and then attempt to find the path of the romex in the walls perhaps to the next junction box? I have tried this in the past and do not have a lot of luck getting signal. Of course this is an open circuit, so should I attempt tying the transmitter to the neutral and ground?
Tom if you would like to talk send me an email with your contact info and I will give you a call to see if I can help you. Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
Johnny not sure what you could find them for online but new units start about $950 and go up to $1500. How expensive they are depends on how bad you need to locate a cable. You'll find they are a good investment and can save you a lot of time tracing cables. If you need to talk with a sales person let me know. Thanks Ron
