I discovered your videos a week ago and loved the ones I watched so far, I wish my wife was hooked into fishing like Erin so we can go fishing often, anyway, thanks guys. God bless
For future reference you can fish on the beach. As long as no life guards are on duty. You can fish the jetty and, north of it at anytime. It is specifically a fishing only area. It is by the henlopen hotel. Love your guys videos! Tightlines my friends!
Your video was great! I am trying to do the same things you do to help me surf fish successfully. One question though: Can you do a short video on using sand spikes so I don't loose my new rig in the water? A back to the basics video on this would be helpful to me! I would like to know what you do? Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Dog fish are a classic fish for the east coast. They are basically small shark and are bottom feeders. Using circle hooks is a good way to keep bait and big fish on the line. If you go to more rocky areas or some rivers you might catch some striped bass. It would be an honor to fish with you sometime! I love watching your videos and you have taught me a lot over these past 6 months. But I live in central Maine with a lot of trout fishing and smallmouth fishing. If you see this comment it would be great if you reply
Hey! Man Maine is kind of far! I will see where my future travels take me. I'd love to learn to do some small mouth fishing. Haven't had much experience in that. Thanks for the kind words!
You might try a small cutting board from Walmart or a thrift store to cut up your bait. It will save your cooler top. It will fit inside your cooler when you are finished fishing for the day.
I caught a 3 foot shark off Rehobeth beach that had a hook and line, I pulled the line in until I got a very nice rod and reel I cleaned the reel up and used it for years. The rod was a custom job
Love your videos guys. i am from sri lanka and mostly into beach casting. we get anything from GT's to black tip sharks here casting right off the beach. keep the cool videos coming..!!!
i’m a new sub i’ve really been enjoying your videos and learning a lot. i’m taking a trip to Fort Myers in a week and plan on using lots of your techniques
The one is a spiny dogfish it's in the shark family but some people call it sandshark cause that's where it stays. The other is a southern kingfish aka whiting. The other is flounder aka fluke. Hope this helps.
That fish you caught at 6:00 wasn't a king fish, those are called whiting and make amazing shark bait! they are also part of the drum family. those little sharks and whiting are both the most common thing to catch off of the surf even down here in NC! Love the videos dude, keep it up!
Thabks man! But I always thought King fish and whiting are the same thing, just called different things depending on location. I've know the fish as whiting, kingfish just slipped my lips. I appreciate your feedback!
Heading down to OCMD for a week on Saturday. Got the rods and reels ready hoping to catch a bunch of stuff like you have done! Might run into you guys down there. love the vids!
Hey Dude, just subscribed. Finally another fisherman from MD. I live in Frederick. Most of my life I've lived around saltwater, VA Beach, Outer Banks and FL. Surf-fished for about 30 years. This summer we should get together for some, could teach you about the fish.
Guys, i enjoyed your video very much and thanks for posting your experiences. Just a question, why not using fishing plier and gloves when removing the hooks?
hello,i'm beginner fisher, and i have some questions please: - when i surf fishing, should i let the sinker hits the bottom? -///////////////////////////// should i make the hook thread long or short? -//////////////////////////// should i put the hook above the sinker or the sinker above the hook?
That flat fish is a flounder , great eating .. you had shorts on, walk into the water and let them go...everybody knows that when you go and fish a new place you find the rules before starting to fish, maybe you could have asked about those when you bought your bait ...
With skates, rays and flounder, they flatten themselves out and it feels like you’re pulling up and ocean liner 😂😂😂😂 once I was fishing lemon bay in Englewood Florida, and I caught a 4 pound ray, I thought I had hooked into a 20-30 pound snook!
I love your attitude and your surf fishing vids. Thanks bro, I'd love to fish with you some time. I also like your tat. Please tell me the inspiration for it. It is MONDO epic cool.
Really liking your videos. They remind me of my fishing adventures 30 plus years ago. My girlfriend seemed to be enjoying the journey. In 1986 I spent a bunch of money on our first trip to Anchorage Alaska . I should have realized my honey was not having fun when I cleaned some salmon caught in the Kenai river in the bathtub of our lodge room. We parted soon after. In 1997 I overstepped the fishing thing again and had my next true love decide we were not fit for each other. Keep a balance and keep your beautiful girlfriend happy. She is definitely a keeper. I wish I could take back time and do things differently. Fortunately my current girlfriend has no interest in fishing but she really enjoys what I bring home.
edward, thank you so much for watching and sharing your experiences. they really make our day. how funny, we were thinking of possibly going up to Alaska this summer-- but maybe we should go somewhere else instead? ;) -Erin
Bro your doing a good job. I liked the Guitar shark that you caught. I really appreciate the fact that you practice Catch and Release. Just a request from one Angler to another "Release the fishes properly going forward". Other than that your all good....v
+Vicky Martin gotcha Vicky! This was filmed about a year ago. We have since learned some more proper methods of handling our fish! Thank you so much for watching and giving us feedback. It helps us grow as a brand.
What's up bro I live right down the street from you I can show you some good fishing spots near me and some crazy footage of me catching a 6-foot Ray off the surf of Ocean City like 10 years ago
+Senko Skipper also bro if you wanna catch bigger predatory fish in yo region reds, blues, and sharks. Go around pilings and grass flats and toss a small hook with squid there and catch small baitfish (croaker, spot, pinfish). Bring a bucket with filter catch about a dozen. Then rig them up hook em through the mouth on a carolina rig and hold on
Nice video! Yes, they are called kingfish in our parts. I fished all the time as a teen in Dewey beach right near there. Used to catch blues and trout. I haven't seen a trout caught from the surf in years. Now I have a place in OC and use fishbites instead of bloodworms and they work good. I will cut up small catches and throw them out for sharks and skates. I have never seen a flounder caught from the surf, although John Skinner has videos from Long Island where he not only surf fishes for them, but targets them with gulp baits.
Douglas Green that's so interesting! I've been trying to catch some blues there for years, my only luck has been in New York! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Bluefish used to come in thick about 30 years ago with breaking schools and everything and we caught many on mullet, and I think the commercial fishermen or something really took a toll on them. More recently they've rebounded, but most are smaller than back then, and you have a lot more luck catching them in the inlet (Indian River or OC) than off the beaches. IMO, trout from shore are extremely rare now. We used to catch them on squid.
Douglas Green I wish I could have been around to witness the blues. I love the Indian river inlet, been going there with my dad for years. I've never ever seen a trout pulled out
Around here we catch a very similar fish called the california corbina, they look exactly the same but get much bigger. Tasty too, they have a nice firm white meat that makes great tacos.
i once tried to go out in early december but the surf was so rough and the waves were out of controll. How do I know what days the surf and wind won't be that strong?
The clear nose skate you caught that was biting your finger have a type of bacteria / slime on their backs where all the little sharp spines are. If you get an abrasion from the spines you can get a nasty infection. Its best not to handle them. Just FYI
Arcuate Name is a Spiny Dogfish, Just when there young they don't have any spikes yet, only once they get to around 3 or 4 feet they developed atchaul spikes, and Nick names are Dog fish or sand shark, even though that's a completely different fish or shark I guess, well sorry for the rant I just can't understand why people though that was a black tip.
That's great and hilarious man I caught a shark just like this and stingray and had the same reaction to both fish as you haha. With the stingray I lost it first and was like wow that was a really big fish that I lost and ended up catching it a small time later so we had really similar experiences man!
next time try some no.2 hooks and shrimp...you can either set it up like a knocker rig... or like the sabiki but bigger ... i like to use live shrimp but fresh dead is good too!. good luck, come to Texas, surf fish the whole dang coast lol
Black drum are going crazy close to where i live in Corpus Christi, and my son and i have been catching reds and speckled trouts for days....its been fun
