That "Bass Knot" at 11:30 is a Palomar knot. Recommended by Berkeley as the best knot for braid. I love those tactical angler clips. So easy to attach your pompano rigs to braided main line.

If you wanted to target Pompano, Whiting and a passing bull Red, would you fish all rods on a double drop with beads/floats, or would you leave 1 rod on a Mortician rig no float? Concerned about hook size and bait used if sticking solely a double drop wiht float. Thanks as always, built the board, works like a champ. Also built up some Mortician rigs, snoots are free to swing, is awesome.

Hey! Awesome video. Love this stuff. Keep it up. Quick question for you... You are using heavy-duty strong and barrel swivels. Any reason we shouldn't go smaller, since these rigs will mainly be catching small fish? Or are you using big terminal tackle just in case a big fish bites? Thanks again for your videos!
@thesinkerguy
@thesinkerguy 3 года назад
Thank you for the kind words. We are using a little stronger swivels and swivel and coast lock because you can put a lot of pressure on the terminal tackle when casting. You can go smaller or with non but recommend at lease 1 swivel is you worry about scaring the fish. I the Jacksonville area it isn’t uncommon to catch a 30-40 in fish with a double drop rig. So I never want to lose a fish because i choose something not adequate enough.

for an unbreakable terminal tackle knot, try the "power knot". Mostly OBX, mid-Atlantic, and some northerly, the power knot is a modified clinch knot, wherein you make a loop and tie a clinch knot. Come back thru the loop at the bottom of the twists, then take the loop over the hardware, and tighten. This knot will knot fail. No part of the knot "bites", it is all twists. clamps, and pulls when tight. Just something I've used for a long time surf fishing. Best to all.

@@billybastar4022 you can open them up and rubber band the legs together and they will lie flat in a toiletry bag. Or you can have a small box, if you have a bunch of them they will interlace together and will make a circle so they can slide in a box or a small circle container.
@billybastar4022

Do you match your rig line test weight with the size sinker you use? Or does it not make a difference? Would a 5 oz weight snap off the rig using a 30 lb test line in the rig? The reason i ask i see Larry Finch using 10 lb test in his pompano rig yet getting away with throwing a sizable weight. Can you clear this up for me?
@thesinkerguy
@thesinkerguy 10 месяцев назад
This is a fantastic question! The more smooth of a caster you are the lighter you can go. Also the lighter the tip of your rod the lighter you can go. If you are throwing a stiff rod and you are jerky 30lb will hold up just fine. If you want to throw 10lb then I recommend getting good at casting and choose a super lightweight rod like “the bullet” by florida surf tackle. If not you will lose lots of sinkers and rigs. Also choose high quality rigs so you don’t throw off your sinkers. Ask around a lot of people will be honest if a rig isn’t any good. I hope this helps.
