Im in Northern California, and relatively new to fishing so excuse my lack of knowledge! lol, mostly familiar with stripers, perch, smelt and kingfish from the surf here at least (aside from various rockfish). Gotta get out there and learn some more! thanks for the input

There’s not really a “surf fishing” population on the west coast. There’s halibut, small calico and striped bass but nothing you can throw a plug at on the beach! My gf who wants to move to the west coast doesn’t understand

Link goes to several models. Which model do you have?

He said his rod is 10' so maybe he cut 6" off the butt???

He said it was new style custom rod and was a two piece rod that was fused together. I was just curious what model it was.

Pretty sure he said its the NorEaster model. Hope that helps

According to a previous fish tip by Zeno, you may be overloading your reel with line. It may be worth checking out. Not trying to be a know it all but if Zeno says it there's a reason.

all the jumping of the rod tip causes the line to NOT go onto the spool when reeling, in a tight even manner. Because of this, when reeling in and working the pencil, a lot of guys use the right hand thumb and index finger to hold the line tight as it goes onto the spool, while still holding the weight of the rod. John Skinner shows a video on it too., hope that helps
