My friend recommended me your Channel not long ago. As a Multi-Species angler, I am definitely getting a copy of your book. Nice video, by the way! Tight lines from Philadelphia!
+John skinner fishing thank you for all the knowledge you share through your videos... They really got me through the winter and I just landed my first 30 incher yesterday. Thanks man and good luck.
What a good video your an amazing fisherman. I've been watching your channel and trying to learn from you on how to get better in the surf and it has helped tremendously thank you very much. I live in Jersey close to seaside and this is my first season saltwater fishing and because of you it has been great and getting better every time I go out!
great video John been waiting to see a video on this. I started using the darter this season and have caught only a handful of schoolies and wasn't sure if I was using correct or not but I guess I was...keep up with the great videos and books
I'm wondering , whether such darter plugs would work for European pike as well , .....guess I'm gonna make one this winter to try out next year's season , ...thanks for the inspiration , ...greetings from northern Germany , 61diemai
Hello Mr. Skinner. I recently purchased a Yozuri Mag Darter. I notice a big difference from the Super Strike not only in their profile but in the action too. Have you tried using these darters from Yozuri? If so could you do a video providing some suggestions on the technique and application of these darters? It would be much appreciated.
John; You are an awesome teacher. Do you ever take students to teach them in the field? If so, this Pennsylvania boy would be honored to learn from you.
Being that darters aren't the best daytime lures, what do you recommend for a day time wide profile bait fish imitation, that won't get torn up by bluefish?
Dark colors on new moon which is a dark moon.... bright plugs on full moon cuz the waters lit at night from full moon ... but I've caught fish using bright colors on dark nights u fish it right and they will bite
Hello John , thanks for your videos , again ! One thing I don't understand is the swivel connecting the braid and ,you said ,3 feet of fluoro . When you cast , does the swivel go through the guides ? or do you cast with 3 feet of fluoro hanging out with the lure ? that seems odd ..
+John Skinner Fishing Ok , thank you for your quick answer . I usually connect braid & fluoro with a knot . I will try using swivel . That's faster when you broke the line .
I keep watching you're videos to learn how to catch stripers. I'm still trying to catch my first one. How often do you fish and what's your favorite lure for stripers?
I have been fishing long island all year, its just i cant even find a spot with fish. I caught 3 stripers all year... How do you find spots with such great striper activity?
exploring haha you have to find a spot that holds fish to get the fish. it sounds silly but once you find the spots that hold fish youll have them. look for structure, currents that are different from the surrounding area, ask around on forums or look at pictures from where other people are finding the fish. and most of all just have fun with it. Always remember a bad day on the water is better than your best day at work.
Do colors of plugs really matter? I fish "blurble" at night and yellows/whites/blues during low light but I have seen guys catch stripers in the darkest of nights on yellow darters. I feel like it isn't all that important.
What do you guys recommend for small baitfish imitations? The fish near me are too small for these massive plugs, and generally feed on small baitfish.
Is the SSV 6500 better suited to 9-11ft rods or did you choose it for the bail-less option? I have a SSV4500 and Clash 4000 for my 7ft rods I use in the kayak, and a Battle II 5000 on my 10ft surf rod. I am looking to upgrade to a better surf rod (probably 11ft) and am trying to decide between the SSV 500 and 6500.
Hey probably won't see this common anyway but I got a couple questions about the Those lures can they be fished like a giant jerk bait cause sometimes I'm fishing off of a peer current's not always that strong And also are they effective for other species I live on the Gulf coast we don't always have strippers but we got a lot of Jack revival bluefish and that's That sort of thing
@12:25 that was pretty ridiculous. Here on the west coast it's pretty common for adult stripers to eat juveniles and small schoolies, in stomach pumping surveys of double digit fish they usually always indicate that other small stripers are a main dietary staple. Trippy to see it that extreme though!
+John Skinner Fishing It decieved me a bit watching the video as it looked like you were fishing " Up Current" , but thanks for clarifying that .Do you ever fish lures Up Current ?
+John Skinner Fishing Thanks. Do you feel any upgrades like loading or hook upgrades are necessary? In addition, why fish the bottle darter over the Super Strike?
