Surf fishing looks easy, but it hasn't been easy for me to find schools of Redtail, while fishing Mendo/Sonoma beaches. During my three months in the surf, I located one school on North Salmon beach and limited out in 40 mins.. Many blanks or a stripper here and there...
I came to the same conclusion after getting into the surf some years back. It was About the time alot of dudes started to show surf perch fishing videos on RU-vid … it’s easy to watch the edited footage of this and think it’s a sure thing every time. I’ve been skunked more than not doing it but it’s still a good time and I enjoy the coastal environment vs some of the hot sierra foothill areas I fished previously. This channel got me wanting to get that Hali from shore now…..next summers goal
Most of the fun is planning and in the anticipation of a trip, catching fish is a bonus. I began fishing the surf in July 2023, come 2024 I'll begin around February or March, as the Redtails congregate on the beaches around the mouth of freshwater creeks/rivers.@@thereadinesschannel7610
Learned a lot from your videos bro thank you !! Joined my first local perch fishing tournament this Sunday here in Baja and placed 3rd place with a 670 gram perch !
I love how you addressed this question: What’s it going to be like in winter? Im a new fisher mang and I was super curious about this. What changes? How do I adapt? Thanks for this
I would so love a Baja Norte beach fishing episode I don’t see a lot of down south but I’m down there a lot and always fishing that stretch always with my wife and kids. I know some fun spots and I never see anyone post em.
I don't know about down there in California, but up here in south/central Oregon the redtail spawn in some of the larger rivers in June. In July I have seen schools of baby perch in the shallows inside the bay.
I love using my Abu Garcia 4000 spinning reel on my ugly stick gx2 medium action rod 🎣 and I love using my 4000 dawia spinning reel on my ugly stick gx2 medium heavy spinning rod 🎣👍 for Pier fishing wow that sucks when this happens
Sorry to see you snag your thumb 😢, but glad to see you have expertise to get it out. It maybe an opportunity to offer something useful on your shopping page. Small first-aid?
Quick question - I thought perch fed on sand crabs in the summer. I used sandcrabs all summer and had tons of perch. but now the sandcrabs are gone it seems. do you recommend jerk baits through the fall and winter? I was just confused because i thought the sand crabs were gone in the winter as a food source.
Lots of good info guys 👌🏽💯 i’m thinking of trying the Battlestar blue sardine, I went to your site and noticed there’s a discount code. Do you have one so I can purchase the lures??
I like that new lure! I love the arial video! you can sure see the channels! That hook in the finger is a tough one. I think using the needle nose and remove the hook the same way as you roll the hook out of the fish. You got the hook out and that is the main thing. Glad it was not as bad as that hook up a few years back.
