Excellent additions to an app that was already excellent to begin with.

Nice - just finished my work week to come home to learn more of Surface Builder after pre-shift update and a new Masterclass tutorial posted minutes ago 👍🏼. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks for adding audio sync to the project. The app would be perfect if it also had midi synchronization. For example, use buttons to launch midi clips in a sequencer like Helium or Atom. With midi synchronization on the buttons we could build our own sequencer.

Thanks Paul . I think you’ve hit the jackpot with this app. Looking forward to playing with it with logic pro/omnisphere

Excellent. I'm using this to control Lumbeat's drummer apps and it works great. It's super easy to use and get working just by watching a couple vids. The color picker and MIDI note name display features are super additions. Great work and updates on this app, Paul!

Thanks for your excellent work. Here is my improvement ideas (or wish list :). 1. Ability to map midi values (0 to 127) to some configurable values range, for instance volume values 2. Config the reset value for a double tap on slider or rotaries.
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
You can already map ranges to sliders and rotaries. See the Min and Max values in the Object Properties window. The next version will allow you to specify double tap defaults for these objects.

@@PaultheMusicMan thanks Paul. For 1., sorry I wasn't clear. Un example ; un slider changing a room size for a reverb, it would be cool if values printed on the slider can be the room size thanks to a configurable (linear or other) interpolation between x1 and x2
@PaultheMusicMan

@@photaudiotech5550 Aha, no worries, I understand now. I will take a look and see if I can make it a little clearer. The next upgrade is a big one, lots of new things being added including NRPN 7/14 bit etc.

excellent update. but just curious. do you have any plans to add an audio trim cut function. or option to set playhead start position?
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
I could, but I do want to be careful not to turn this into an audio app as many have pointed out. I guess a start offset and trim could be added to the Audio Properties window.
@eross21
@eross21 Год назад
@@PaultheMusicMan understandable. just a simple sample start offset would do the trick. but it is your creation, please do with it what you like. I’m just happy to have surface builder to begin with. such a helpful app, that nobody else really has done yet. thanks
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
@@eross21 I assume the start offset would only need to be quite short since I assume you are removing silence from the start of your clip?
@eross21

Fantastic app. One problem. After saving an AUM project Surface Builder opens in a very small resolution . Very Tiny. Is that a known bug?
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
I am assuming you are running under AUM? When a surface file loads it attemts to scale the surface to fit the screen. I think AUM opens a small window and resizes to the last saved size afterwards. Version 1.05 which has just been released attempts to solve this issue. You can of course switch to EDIT mode and use pinch to zoom to resize the surface.
@WimWaman
@WimWaman Год назад
Ok. Thanx. Resizing The Surface is not realy The solution, but I’ll wait for the update

@@WimWaman Thanks for letting me know!
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
I noticed another message about this issue today but you must have deleted it. If this does happen, go into EDIT mode and use two finger pinch to zoom to resize the surface. This only works in EDIT mode. You can zoom in or out to a specific size, but on loading it will always attempt to fit the surface within the screen space.

Question about the Queued Audio Clips: what if I want a clip to repeat until I queue a different clip? This doesn’t seem to work. If I set a clip as Queued and turn on the Repeat button, it simply keeps repeating if I tap another clip to queue it up. If I stop the first clip, THEN it goes to the next clip I have queued. I would like it to finish the current repetition and then go on to the clip I have queued. Is this possible? Thanks for any help with this, Paul! This is turning out to be one of the most useful apps I’ve ever gotten.
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
It is doing as intended (i.e. a queued clip waits until ALL others have finished before playing). If you stop the looping clip then it should start the next queued one. Maybe if you start a new queued it stops all currently looping clips. I need to give that some thought as that might not be what others prefer to happen.
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
If you place the repeat clip in the same group so they will automatically stop each other, I just need to add some logic to say if we are starting a repeat clip unloop all clips in the same group perhaps?
@gtrgeorge348
@gtrgeorge348 Год назад
@@PaultheMusicMan I just tried setting 2 queued clips to repeat, and placed in 1 group. With these settings, if clip1 is playing (repeating) and I queue clip2, it works, but starts immediately no matter where clip1 is. I would like clip1 to finish its current repetition and then play clip2. Like the way loops can be queued in Helium. Hope I’m making sense…
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
@@gtrgeorge348 Exactly, in my previous comment I suggested a possible solution to this. The issue is because the looped clip stops and doesn't fully finish its cycle. The problem is you have a specific usage case, and not all people will want a repeating clip to stop. But if its been placed as part of a group it is a way to tell Surface Builder to do something specific like unroling any clips which are looping... this hasn't been implemented yet, but a possible solution. I must admit I didn't see what you was trying to achieve with this, and I didn't want to turn surface builder into a loopy pro, but I will see what I can do.
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan Год назад
@@gtrgeorge348 Ok George, I think I've got something that will work for you. Look out for version 1.03 which should work as you are asking. In the end I am not using groups. If you put clips in groups they will continue to stop each other immediately. Instead just make all your samples queued audio. If you try and launch a queued clip, it will unroll all playing queued audio clips with REPEAT set, allowing them to play through to the end then stop, which then allows the recently pressed clip to play. This way you can still have other standard audio clips loop without being effected.

@PaulTheMusican Hi Paul! Can you assign positional and/or accelerometer velocity to drum pads? Hope so, thanks!
@PaultheMusicMan
@PaultheMusicMan 11 месяцев назад
I don't support accelerator velocity but with the velocity button enabled, the higher on the pad you press the louder the pad gets. I am thinking about adding touch velocity though in the near future.
