In this video I will show you some records that are defective. They have not been scratched or otherwise damaged by their owners--they were made this way.

Thanks for this video! I think this sort of thing is fascinating. Like the CAN marbled vinyl, also watch out for poorly made "splatter" vinyl, where different-colored pellets are dropped into the mix. If it's not done right, the result is uneven layers, which causes a scratchy surface noise as the stylus passes over them, which can be heartbreaking.

Thank you for the comment! Unfortunately, it seems that the proportion of defective modern records is rather high. Since I made this video, I bought 11 new records, and 3 of them had to be returned due to audible issues.

Have you noticed what looks like droplets on 1950's EP's?

I have not, but then I don't have many EPs to begin with.

@@yeoldestuff They look like droplets that floated out, making a little puddle, i have too many to suspect damage, more like a defect from the pressing??, it's a mystery

@@bowallin7200 yes, this is entirely possible. people often look at old records through rose-tinted glasses, but in reality they were about as bad as modern records in terms of quality, and EPs and singles especially were made at the lowest cost possible
