Surfacing the prop, LT25 Gheenoe, 40hp. 

No, its a Vance mfg. jackplate. Only 3" setback which helps with the 210 pound motor. I can adjust it on the water which helps alot.

Jamie Nichols Sorta. I gain speed going up until my cavitation plate is 5" above the bottom. Any higher I actually loose .5 mph. I do gain a few hundred rpms going up to max hight though, but the prop slip slightly slows me down. If I went to a 17P prop (currently run a 15P) then I could get some more speed with the plate all the way up. I am looking into it, but I do not always run up high so its hard to throw another $280 into a higher pitched prop. It runs 38 at max lift, about 38.5 mph 3/4 the way up.

Jamie Nichols Yeah, I can't complain. Instant hole shot in 10" of water. Prop holds unconditionally, and I don't even have a hydraulic plate. I think its about right. The only issue is my neighbor now has a 40 on his lt25. I can outrun him by like .5 mph. Thats why I'm thinking about switching props to get more speed but I know that I can run in half the water it takes him to run in. :)

I bet you could outrun me. I usually get 38, but I can trim up and fight the porpoise and get 39, but its on some rare occasions that the water is right. Chop helps to keep the boat from porpoising. Smooth water all I can get is 38. Even then it will be on the edge of porpoise. I want some 50hp carbs but I think the camshaft needs to be swapped out too. Im not willing to do that much work on mine…yet. It runs so good now. My neighbor got a yamaha 4 stroke 40. It has a better gear ratio for top speed, but the motor does not have as much power as mine. I out accelerate, and overall out perform his through turns. My prop helps because of the slip in turns which keeps the rpms high, but still on a strait drag race Honda will take the Yami. He will not admit it yet, but he is at his sweet spot now and I will slowly pass him. I do want to trade my extra 300 rpms in for some more top end though.
