Harris Frankou that’s true but my point was, you don’t need theory to play guitar and you don’t need theory to make good music but it is helpful. I’m totally not against people educating themselves and wanting to learn as much as possible but there are a lot of people in the world that simply just want to have fun playing guitar. They don’t want to be a super technical musician, they just want to play songs on a guitar because it’s badass and looks cool and you don’t need theory for that.

Big Scoot I understand where you’re coming from, the advertisement really is supposed to be about the guitar and not this girl but you really have to think about what they’re selling here. They’re trying to reach a certain demographic of people, as soon as I saw her holding a jazzmaster I already knew what this video would be about. (Forgive me if I called the guitar a jazzmaster if it’s really a Jaguar, I always confuse those two guitars). But ever since the 90’s jaguar shaped guitars have basically been a staple for punk music and grunge music with lots of distortion, therefore I didn’t expect them to get a super technical guitar player to review a guitar like this. Jaguars and jazzmasters are basically the official guitar of the punk scene thanks to Kurt Cobain and other players who played those types of guitars back in the 90’s so of course they’re trying to sell to that demographic. Also what a lot of people haven’t realized yet is, recently Nirvana has had a spike in popularity again, the smells like teen spirit music video reached 1 billion views on RU-vid on Christmas Day last year and ever since then Nirvana content has been all over the place on RU-vid. Someone even made a fake Nirvana movie trailer that got over a million views and people we’re excited to see it but the video got taken down. So for some reason the whole grunge/ punk thing has resurfaced a little bit this year so I’m not surprised that fender would notice that and try to capitalize off of the craze that’s happening right now. Plus this is also the month that Kurt Cobain died so I’m not surprised by their choice for this video, this woman has nothing to do with the grunge scene but one of her idols did and the entire video was about her idol.

I've seen L7 numerous times. They often came to my town, sometime twice on the same tour. Over the years, I've met current and former members of the band including Donita Sparks. Donita was genuinely kind. The same is true for the other members I met. Donita is really supportive of Surfbort. Dani Miller idolizes Donita Sparks, and Donita has been good to her. I met a "hero" of mine, and he lectured me about politics. Although I basically agreed with him, he was acting like an insufferable douche that day. Apparently, Donita had similar experience with the same guy. Neither one of us will be effusive to our former "hero." This is the opposite of of Dani Miller's experience with Donita Sparks. If I was the presenter, I would have focused on the band as a whole.

They worked really hard and put on fun shows. I've seen them play small and mid sized venues. I've met members and a former member(Gail Greenwood) They were awesome in person.
