This situation was pretty gnarly. As surfer's we're very intuned with timing sets & waves as they break, but most swimmer's aren't. Today in Ocean City, Maryland Kalani RObb & I rescued a swimmer who was potentially drowning. If we weren't in the same area that he was swimming no one would've have known or maybe even seen his situation happening. I feel grateful to have been there & thank you to Kalani for jumping into the situation like he did. Thanks for the stoke & support! - Ben

Yah I almost drowned yesterday, never surfed in the ocean and went for a 7 footer and felt like I was trapped in a washing machine

I learned the hard way about rips, Id already been a semi-waterman for years and never once had a scare a real scare with a rip current until my late teens I went to like Dewey Beach DE for some vaca fun with a friends fam, we went down to the water there were plenty of folk in the surf and I followed my friends dad in we both just start swimming for the middle of the Atlantic, about 100yds out we went to turn around and we both realized we were being freaking sucked flung extremely fast out to sea...I made it to shore....like I said "semi-waterman"....but my friends dad was hauled in by the lifeguards omg I just remember feeling sand under my feet and I collapsed on the beach and I could feel my body impulsively sucking O2 out of the air while the adrenaline dump cooked fully off, I came to with warm sand on my face and my hair with people still charging past me to drag in my buddy's pop.....very VERY gnar and THat day I learned.

I’m a lifeguard for ocmd and I remember my buddies telling me you were at k-coast that day and was super bummed I couldn’t meet you. I also remember how bad the rips were pulling that day. Glad you were there to help that guy out. See u back in OC hopefully🤙

Man I love when Beefs and Gravy come together! What a fun squad. I actually rescued an adult woman and her child from a rip back in the 90s on Carolina Beach NC. I was just a teen grom body boarder. Saw these people freaking out and flailing. I paddled them in. Didn’t think twice about it at the time. As a surfer sometimes you forgot how dangerous the waves can be to the average person.

At 11:42 I know that feeling - lifeguarded for many many years at Rockaway beach and you never really lose those instincts - since the 80's I have literally saved a couple of dozen people.. Surfers, boarders, etc - know the ocean dynamics and are so in-tune to seeing trouble and making rescues... Cool you guys ended up in their ledger...

I miss my surfer friends in Cali. We were Just in Ocean City 2 weeks ago. The Atlantic and Pacific are spirited! I had forgotten how much that water rumbles. We were getting thrown around in ocean city.. It really made me happy to watch you kids on this video. Keep having fun! 61 and still living it up!

It's such a good feeling.. Some few years ago I saved a woman who was literally sucked in by a channel. Her nephew yelled @ me and I saw her in deep trouble. In the beginning it was not shallow so I took out my leash, left the board and saved her the classic way with my arm around her chest and swimming backward. When all was over she couldn't even talk cause of the shock.. Btw I felt so good that day. Cheers from Italy 👍

Awesome vlog!!! Great job saving that kiddo. As a mom that is my worst nightmare at the beach and I would have been so grateful had you saved my baby! He looked no more that 9 or 10 years old, maybe younger. Gave me shivers seeing the panic on his face. My son is 7 and just shook my heart seeing that little guys face, I just wanted to go through the screen and hug him so big. (Sorry mommy moment haha) So good to see you and Kalani having fun! I live in Ocean city MD, I work at frontier town the water park. So amazing you saved that kid. It was so amazing watching this video and recognizing everything because I live there The waves are no joke down there and I watch my kids like a weirdo lol

Dude, that save was made on the South side of the Indian River Inlet in Delaware , not Maryland...Can't believe I missed you guys at my home break... A little trivia...Mark Foo grew up surfing the South side...I swear that place used to have the most consistent barrels on the East Coast...Something about the sand pumping messed it up... Ask Johnny Webber....Stoked you guys made that save....in DELAWARE...lol

I got caught on the wrong side of jetty In OC , one side is a rock Jetty the otherside is a rock wall , no exit . Luckily a fisherman running home from the storm grabbed me as I was completely sapped of energy!! Near death experience

DE & MD are my local beaches, the rip currents are there, first time I got caught in one, nearly panicked, now I just enjoy the ride and save my energy, eventually it will let go, but damn, getting yanked around the jetty is scary shit, would never swim in that inlet.
