Awesome dude...I grew up on Cocoa Beach and mostly raced motorcycles but I surfed just enough to say I knew how to surf but never spent the time to get good...I just retired a couple months ago and just bought a jeep to drive to the beach (I live in the Orlando metro area now) and am really looking forward to surfing...your tutorial was a perfect starting point. BTW when I was in college in the mid 80's I used to see Kelly Slater surf as a youngish teen boy....he was already damn good by then.

You're great, dude. A lot of information. I am going to look this up and see if I can find some animations of how the ocean works--you got me thinking. Keep up the great work--I'm a body surfer and I want to get my timing right of when to go to the beach, the winds effects, etc. Great job.

The Earth's spin causes diurnal and semi-diurnal tidal changes. You mentioned the Moon going around the Earth several times. Otherwise, this is a great video. Thanks for posting!

Nice video.I am actually trying to make sea defences so your video helped me learn a lot more about waves.I suppose a human being out in amongst the waves is the best scientific instrument with the best onboard computer too. Good luck and thanks again.

May I ask what period of wave wave breaks are distinguished between low tide and high tide in general or from experience? For example, under 8s is more good for low tide and ,above 10s , high tide is perfect. In my country beach, it is less 8s or above period wave. So what I feel is low tide cause wave break well.

And I apologize I don't know if I get just one question but I have another one is what would be the opposite or an anti-wave? Is there such thing as an anti-wave thank you look forward to hearing your explanation

Love all the lessons, but I'm not sure I got why low tides can be better for shorter period seells.

I have jus started surfing with the family and my wife is always worried about strong currents, am i rigjt in thinking that a plus 9 ft to a minus 2ft would have a very strong pulling current, as such a lare volume to move in a short space of time?
@fishmut
@fishmut Год назад
Suffolk…. I would say if the tide time for the high and low has a big difference and short time say 6 hours something like that , yep strong currents depends where you are as well , good to pay attention , don’t want to get sucked out and not be able to get back in , it has happened here in Australia with kayakers and they had to get rescued so yeah pay attention to the currents strengths. 👍

So what's safer low or high tide?
@surfcoaches
@surfcoaches 9 лет назад
***** depends on the break really...sometimes hi tide can be really soft and mushy, meaning more approachable, and sometimes hi tide means the waves will roll all the way in a dump close to the beach...and in other cases low tides can be more dangerous because it may expose rocks or make the waves steep and hollow...do some research on your local breaks...surfline.com and wannasurf.com can give a little insight

Victor Romero just start surfing, I am sure new friends will come to you!!!! They will see you surfing alone and start talking to you. And don't be afraid to do things alone. You don't have to be held back from doing what you really want because of others.

centrifugal force is not a real force, and also the earth and the moon do not orbit each other, the earth orbits the sun and the moon orbits the earth. If my physics teacher sees this he will be mad.
