I lived in Victoria for a few years in the 90s. Wave is best over winter. Needs an in coming tide as the wave drops away as the tide goes out unless it's big. Never had an issue with the locals as they are all kooks. There's some nice breaks up the coast as well. Tofino was a shit fight. Locals are pathetic up that way. Can't surf to save themselves but really bad localism sums up the place.. Surfed a place called twin rivers a few times which is probably the only good wave up that way. Long beach is horrendously bad. The waves up that way are kinda rubbish. Go to Indonesia if you want good waves.
I know right? haha don't be a hater, it's the pacific northwest, these fellas are just doing their best on local beach. These breaks are nowhere near any town, you gotta make a big trip so ppl can never get all that much practice in. You try 360 airs in 6/5/4 wetsuit brah XD
