I bought one yesterday and I can’t wait for it to arrive I refinish old furniture. The customer service was excellent! A wonderful lady by the name of Wendy called me to make sure I had everything I needed. I have a rigid shop vac and I did not buy the attachment because I didn’t know. She called me personally and even threw in a free T-shirt. That’s excellent customer service!
Best video ever. I bought mine a little over a week ago and just started using it. At first I wasn’t impressed with its mush, but then I watched this and I wasn’t using my protective pad and that changed my entire mush game! 😂 so now I’m getting it. I was starting to have buyers remorse, but this video just made me realized I just don’t know what the hell I’m doing yet and this thing really IS as magical as I think.
Retired Navy guy here! Love your video. I bought the SurfPrep HEPA shop vac to go along with the sander! You need to check that out, as well. I look forward to subscribing and learning more. God bless!
Thank you for your service my friend. And I have an unboxing video for the new shop vac on here 👍 in case you want to see what you’re buying 👊 will have more on it soon once I’m in the new shop this week
So incredibly helpful. You had me at "scuff sanding"😂 Game changer/time saver! I was overwhelmed by the website until I watched this video. Now it all makes sense. Think this is a must for me! Thank you so much for the time you took to put this video together. It was amazing.
That’s awesome! Glad to hear it’s helpful. If you decide to buy one be sure to use my discount code too 👍👍👍 in the video I misspoke and my discount is actually 10% OFF 👍 Just wanted to make sure you knew as it’s a nice lil chunk off at checkout ☺️ thx for the response and letting me know it’s helpful
I love my surfprep sander! My hand doesn't get tired or start cramping from holding it. And I LOVE the vacuum system it has! I think it is definitely worth the cost and I'm not a professional furniture refinisher.
This is not a brand sold in most countries and if it is ,its way to expensive. It looks so comfy to use for a lady especially.Would need to save a lifetime ,to own one.
Im so happy you are doing this video. I want one but very overwhelmed with all the choices. Don't know what to get. Thank you for the first detailed video. I look forward to more so I can learn and decide what to get for christmas
I work in a body shop with professional sanders and i like to re do furniture as a new hobby and talk about sticker shock lol. I couldn't believe how much this sander was and I can see why so many people are on the fence about it. I don't think 1 of our pro sanders cost half the price of this. I see that it works well and time is usually money but I'm still getting over the shock and just can't click the "buy now" button even though I would like to get one.
Caring for for your body will mean less pain, less damage, less downtime. Ergonomics = quality of life. Thx for your detailed video. Retired Navy family here. Appreciate your service!!
Amazing video. So very helpful. Thanks for the inspiration and most importantly the extremely organized and clear teaching about the product. I am definitely purchasing this all because of your amazing tutorial. And - your shop is beautiful and inspiring. Thank you!
Mark Thank YOU so much for the SurfPrep video. I've been looking at this system for quite some time. Wanting to get back into refurbishing furniture again. I've got several pieces sitting and waiting on me. But, I've not been able to as I too have issues with my hands and wrists. I'm on Disability now and I can't even use your typical big box sander anymore for the very same reason. But, now I know I would very much like to try the SurfPrep Sanding System to see if I can sand more than 15 minutes of sanding. Of course I have to continue to save up till I can afford one. But, I will definitely let you know when I get one and let you know how it goes. I am super excited. Kudos for being an affiliate with SurfPrep and Thank you for sharing! #refurbishedgentleman #teamsurfprep #surfprep
I’m still on the fence if I should get one. I want one. I feel like it will be a great addition. I currently have Festool and its dust extractor. I love it. But getting into corners and on rounded edges… I’m spending so much time. Or just skipping pieces that require it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
I was initially drawn to the SurfPrep because of rounded portions of furninture. Way cool you can offset the pad! Great video, really detailed, thanks!
Thx for letting me know ☺️ glad to hear it was helpful. More coming to continue sharing knowledge and hopefully help others decide if this is for them 👍 Have a blessed night 🙏
Just watched your video. Thanks. I've been weighing Surfprep vs Festool. Both are pricey sanders. Your video showed me a lot about the surfprep system. Great video!
This is so helpful. Thank you. I'm going to be ordering this system after seeing your video. One question for you on the dust extractor. Is there a smaller version of the rigid shop vac you bought that you would recommend? I'm just thinking that the one you have the link for might be cumbersome for me to lug up and down the stairs at different job sites? But if it's a powerful (and sort of quiet, from what I read) machine, maybe its worth the 'lugging around'...? I'd love your feedback on this before I purchase. Thanks!
Thanks for all the Info Mark, I just put in an order and used your discount code! thank you for that! I've been keeping an eye on this for a while now and was waiting to pull the trigger. You answered a ton of my questions! subscribed!
Nice review Mr! I'm on the hunt for a good one. Have been looking into the Festool, Mirka, Ekasand and this one. J hook with no vibration its an easier choice to go with the Surfprep. I too use the Ridgid Vac and have found using both a bag and filter with a pool sock eliminates all fine dust. Thanks for sharing!
Love your video. You did a great job with all the info. I have been looking at these for a while now. I do have a question tho. I hooked up my current orbit sander to my shop vac and it worked great, but i was always having to clean the shop vac filter. Do you have that problem w/ the surf prep? Thanks so much for your help.
I so wish I had watched this first 🤣 I thought I'd be fine, and used the sander anyways. I was super surprised to find my mouth was full of paint dust! So now I have to wait to get my attachments to use it again
Great video!! I’ve been researching sanding systems for awhile and just haven’t pulled the trigger. Was thinking Festool but then started looking at the Surface Prep. I mostly do custom built ins and some stand alone furniture at times. At first I was thinking I would need both the 5” and 3x4 but after seeing your video I think I can go with just the 3x4. Thanks for your service, prior navy myself and have struggled with numbness like you discussed, I think the reduced vibration factor alone will keep me in the game longer to make it worthwhile. Where in Florida are you located? I’m in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. *just placed order and new subscriber to the channel.
Wonderful video! Been on the fence for so long. Still there, but this helped! Couple of questions: (1) do you get ALL of those sponges and sheets with the kit or did you order extra? (2) I know you've only had the sander a couple months, but how long do the sponges last and does paint get gummed up on them like they do my mouse sanding sheets? I go through a lot of sanding sheets!
You get a variety of them when you buy the sanding system, so you can try a large variety and know what works best for you before you buy more. This was a great aspect of getting such a versatile system, really let me play and test and see what I needed most. And then you can buy the specific ones you want after that, great concept. As far as the sponges and sheets lasting, that’s mostly based on how you use them and on what materials… can’t give you an exact timeframe they should last due to that. And the gumming up also is another thing that is more about the material/finish you’re sanding then the sander or paper/sponges used. If you’re trying to sand through a finish that’s causing it to gum up, that’s a finish you may want to strip. I work with Wise Owl and we have a great Soy-Based safe to use stripper 👍 For general purpose sanding tho, wood finishes as an example you can plan to have one sheet or sponge through more then one project 👍
@@RefurbishedGentlemanTelevision Thank you! So very helpful. Appreciate the quick reply. As mentioned once, I've followed you since the days of Rebecca (pretty much the beginning) so trust you immensely.
You’re welcome. Glad to know it’s helping folks ☺️☺️☺️ Yes my code is actually 10% off too, accidentally said 5 in the video 🤦♂️ Definitely a must have tool for so much more then what I have in this video… a couple other videos are on my channel to help share that 👍
@@cassiemckay5974 that’s great!!! You should be ☺️☺️☺️ I just finished cleaning… yes cleaning with mine! 9 drawers scrubbed clean in 10 minutes! With no doubt they are clean 👍👍👍 if you haven’t watched that video, it’ll be a revelation! Never in a million years would I have ever thought a sander could clean too… but this one does… will be the best investment you’ve made as far as tools goes. Use mine almost daily for one thing or another. Just today alone, sanded back some wood filler then cleaned. Lots of prep happening for spraying comin this week. Anyway, have fun with your new toy ☺️
Hi. I know it’s been two years since you did this video and I very much enjoyed it. So what I would like to know is, first, do you still recommend this sander and second, would it be good for rheumatoid arthritic hands? Thank you for you time.
I've been on the fence for 6 months about this sander (price) and also have spent hours researching shop vacs. Thank you so much for the detail and including everything! Would a smaller gallon shop vac work as well?
Absolutely, the gallon really doesn’t matter, it’s the HP. Wouldn’t go below 5 to truly get the full dust extraction you’re seeing me get. And glad to hear this is helping ya decide. Truly is an awesome system with MANY uses. And if you decide to buy, don’t forget to use my 10% OFF discount code! Gives you a nice chunk off and helps me too! Thx!!!
Such a great informative video Mark! I’ve been thinking about buying one for a year now. I’m ordering one for myself for Christmas! This video convinced me.
That’s awesome to hear! My discount code is good all the time but the company itself is having better one for Black Friday. So be sure to use that code until the 28th, if you plan to buy soon. You can still use my link in the video description which will still give me credit and help me ☺️☺️☺️ The code for 15% OFF is; BLACKFRIDAY2021 Link is; surfprepsanding.com/product/woodworking-sanding-systems-2/?aff=70
I really don’t how good ekasand is compares to festool sander , but it costs a lot more than festool for sure If I buy it sander, just because of the sanding sponge, with this sponge I guess I could sand some curl, corner ereas, and that is all !
From a guy that runs a cabinet shop and has had two bad bearings in two different machines in 4 months, I'd say do not waste your hard earned money on the surfprep. The uneeda copy is even worse. I'm also open to ideas on a better quality machine if anyone wants to chime in.
Thanks for the video. Do you think I can use this to sand the baseboard? Baseboard would still be starched to wall. I want to sand it down and pain it. Would this sander go all the way to the floor but won’t damage the floor
The price does not justify the outcome. As a professional cabinet maker employed at a custom cabinetry shop, I've learned over the last 15 years that tools like the surf prep or even the Ekasand are gimmicks. Over a thousand dollars for a sander and what essentially is a shop vac with a hepa filter. I have some magical sandpaper I would like to sale you. It never looses its grit!
Sorry you’ve had a bad experience, I Haven’t had any issues and have not needed to recalibrate the sander as of yet. I’d definitely get in contact with them as they’re customer service outstanding, at least has been for me, and they should be able to get you squared away.
I just watched another video about this sander. Is it true instead of having an on/off button, it has a button you have to hold down while sanding to keep it running? Do you find that awkward? Just curious because I don't recall you mentioning that in your video. As always, thanks!
Yup that’s correct. The top has a lever you press down on when you’re using it to make it start sanding. And it’s not awkward at all, as it’s placed where you hold it 👍
All can be bought directly from SurfPrep using my discount code for that 10% off, or from a local retailer if you have one. For me the pads last a few jobs if used correctly. Much of those I’ve seen who press to hard and overwork the machine are those who go through pads faster then they should. So basically let the machine do the work and they’ll last longer. And using the right pads for the job, which there are many from them which you kinda have to play and see how you use them, it differs for the user depending on what you do 👍
So glad to hear it ☺️☺️☺️ and I messed up in the video… my discount is actually 10% OFF!!! So if you do decide don’t miss that as it’s a nice lil chunk off 👍 And you can find my on Facebook or Instagram often if you’ve got questions

The worst paper! All foam pads deaminates. Customer service was like what are "you" doing wrong, not let's try to figure this out. I own a busy cabinet shop with a finishing department. After a month of communication with SP they finally sent replacement for the foam pads. In that month we sold the 3x5 sander and all the paper and bought the festool 3x5 sander. We already have festool sanders ofcourse the paper is great.
