She was awesome! I noticed how she would lock eyes with the other members, too -- something I never would have thought about until last weekend when Bruce Spizer said the same about Ringo Starr -- basically, maintaining lines of communication and being in sync with everyone. Something I read somewhere implied that she's basically their touring drummer but Dani might still be in use as their studio drummer. Sam's Wikipedia entry has some serious credentials...former touring drummer for Hole, I think Motley Crüe off the top of my head...
@@scatteredfrog The Surfrajette's Samantha Maloney isn't the same Samantha Maloney that was in Hole and Motley Crue. Although she still has serious cred, check her out by searching for Kalli Horse for starters. Our Sam first played with The Surfrajettes for two gigs in 2017 before Anna Liebel's tenure, there's two videos out there, look for Dieter Bus's Cameron House's recordings.. I wouldn't expect to see Dani Nash record with them again, that was because of the pandemic and because Anna left. I'd expect Sam to be there in all capacities.
@@redrick8900 Give her the benefit of the doubt. She had insane energy and the few mistakes she made were almost unnoticeable. She might have been a little anxious, I think.
Plus all are great musicians and beautiful girls congrats 🙌 much better than some billion shows productions yeahhh Surffajettes when do you girls come to Portugal 🇵🇹? Europe ?
Drummer is going apeshit on the drums, the bassist doesn’t miss the groove and that guitar tone is phenomenal. These girls are the new Ventures. Someone give them some Mosrites.
I was at this particular show. Awesome performance, and that drummer was on fire the whole night, especially on a couple of other faster songs. She was putting it down like Dave Grohl on drums.
They def had a slightly harder edged sound when we saw them in Cleveland, compared to the other shows I've seen over the last few yrs. Olivia, the fill in bassist, prob had something to do with that. Nice gals, fun show!
Had to check out another recent vid of my favorite surf band. Fantastic, as always. Btw, seems like this band goes through drummers like Spinal Tap...lol.
Yes, agreed. Amazing that the ‘older’ lady gets more compliments than t’others. Sam comes second (superb at her instruments) before the lead/rhythm pair (who are pretty damn good with swapping from lead to rhythm).
We had great seats - second row. Just a fantastic show from start to finish! Watching the Surfrajettes makes me want to pick up my guitar, something I've been doing much too little of lately.
Nope. The Surfrajette's version is actually titled "Satan's Holiday." Kind of like how David Shire's rendition of "Night on Bald Mountain" is called "Night on Disco Mountain." They used a little Griegian poetic license.
That old man probably gets their music more than anyone else there. Are you kidding? He'll probably actually buy their albums. Don't knock old people. Not cool at all.
From what I understand, Sam was only a temporary drummer for that tour as it was. Surfrajettes have had many drummers over the years; I think Sarah, Nicole, and Shermy are the only constants.
8 out of 10. The bass kept getting overrun. On a set like that, the bass should be, if not the king, at least the Secretary of War! Check out some of the Bobby Fuller Four hits to see what I mean -- they could have done without one of the six-strings, but not the bass.
