I think it's still worth it to be a surgeon. Instead of seeing it as "ay haba naman 6 years" I see it as "6 years lang yan ng buhay ko haha" I think it's worth the investment since you'll continue to learn more.

Responding to a call to be a surgeon may take a lot but I believe it always will be worth it to be one. Aside from the duration, may other factors lang talaga why it’s a struggle. Sana in the future may Day in the Life naman ng mga colleagues mo po in the surgery field like Plastics, TCVS, Trauma, etc. so they can tell us about the process of being that type of surgeon (like in Med School Insiders' "So You Want to Be") in the Philippine education system setting, so us aspiring surgeons will have a handle!
Doc question po: since pag residency although youre training for your specialization pero diba parang work na din yan? Natanong ko po kasi as a second year medical student under a scholarship, I am obliged to do a 4 year return service. If I can manage to reduce my time of service I will definitely apply for scholarships and do masters sana or phd agad pag pwede na lumabas. If yung specialization na gusto ko is general surgery, tas say I only finished 2 years so far, can I pick up where I left off? Kasi nga magmamasters po ako. Or di po yun pwede? Na dapat tuloy tuloy? The reason for the rush din po kasi i am not sure if I am still eligible for scholarships once I hit my 40s. Eh Im 27 na po and by the time I graduate Ill be in my 30s. Original plan is to go masters muna after the license pero may return service din po kasi, which is for my case baka 4 years. Looking forward po for your advice on the matter. Thanks po doc!
