Surgical Innovation Elective 

This four-week course is offered to TAMU’s EnMed and School of Medicine students, in order to provide a well-rounded experience for students focusing on surgical innovation and technologies. During the Surgical Innovation Bootcamp week, the students will be introduced to various surgical techniques in the fields of robotic and laparoscopic surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery with lectures and hands-on workshops led by world class surgical faculty. Throughout the rest of the course, the students will shadow a surgeon of their choice and learn first-hand surgical best practices in clinical settings. EnMed students will work with their Texas A&M Engineering mentors to develop solutions to generate concepts and possibly prototype solutions to their identified clinical need. This gives the students a chance to put into practice what they learned during the course.
