Just got my jaw cyst removed few days ago. It was done in local anesthesia and I got relaxing medicine. My wisdom tooth and cyst were both removed. There was pain when the doctor was putting the local anesthesia. Then my mouth swell, which felt really uncomfortable. Although, the cyst was on bottom jaw and doctor numbed also the upper jaw, because he wanted to remove wisdom tooth from there. The most annoying needel was on the top of my mouth. I don't know if this had to be done, if upped wisdom tooth would have not been planned to be removed. Opening the jaw didn't hurt at all, but twisting and pulling of the tooth did. I got some sort of nerve damage and I have no normal feeling on my lower lip and chin. Although, it's only few days for the surgery and it's already getting better, so maybe it will be fine eventually. So the removing of the teeth was the most painful thing. I am already 33, so my wisdom tooth was fully grown. It you are younger, it may not be this bad. My cyst was probably a keratocyst, which has high chance of coming back. That was bad news, but I did not get confirmation yet. I really hope it doesn't come back and infect my other teeth, which would have to be removed too. Now my cheek is swollen and it is pressing against my teeth, which is annoying. I don't have pain in the jaw itself where the cyst and wisdom tooth was removed. My cyst was kind of large and I tend to bite my teeth together when I sleep. This makes me scared of breaking my jaw while I sleep. I have to eat cold non solid foods for 5 days and after that I can continue eating normal soft food for next 5 weeks. After that I think I can eat pretty normally, but I will probably avoid hard food like nuts and non cooked carrots until my jawbone is fully healed. I don't know when this happens, but if I understood correctly, it can take 6-12 months. The operation was unpleasant, but I was able to do it. I didn't think I would, so it was little easier than I thought. There were no other option than do it, so even I got my nerve damaged, there was not much else to do than go through this operation. I was about to get my other wisdom teeth removed too, but I don't now if I will agree to that, if they show no sign of cyst of other infection. I probably need to take checkups because of the cyst can come back anyways, so I will notice, if chances are happening on my other teeth. I am not eager to get more nerve damages. All my wisdom teet are under my gums, so they are not easily infected. I really hope I don't break my jaw during this recovery time or get any infection, but so for recovery time has been much better than I thought. Actually the only big downside is that I am scared that it will not continue to be as smooth. I don't have much jawbone left and my nightly biting may easily break it. I think I cannot do more than try to be as relaxed as possible when I go to sleep.
I had to have surgery 3 times this year for impacted wisdom teeth..it was a real nightmare the pain was hell n I don't wish that on nobody..I'm just glad its all over
@@incog2575 the pain post surgery is the killer. especially if bone was removed. the patient in this video would have had a hard time in coming weeks with recovery
I had impacted wisdom teeth and OMG the pain after all 4 where removed was insane. I just had a molar removed 2 weeks ago and he broke the bone that separates the roots. The pain from that was unbearable for 4 days straight. 1200 mgs of Advil and 3 T3s with codeine every 5 hours for 4 days straight. He left a piece of bone in there to . I just pulled it out today 2 weeks later. FML.
@@__d7437 just had this done, apparently one of my nerves was compressed so my entire mouth, tongue, lower lip was numb hence I can’t feel anything Not sure if it’s good or bad. But guys get the cyst out, its way too risky to keep it there
@@savannahhhhh lol mines is on September 9th and I’m 16 every I’m also scared because everyone keeps saying “ItS hUgE” but it sort of looks like this one in the video but like a centimeter bigger.
Yes by the grace of Allah, I recovered in few weeks, I sacrificed 8 teeth in this operation. I was operated in Ziauddin Hospital and it cost me around 80,000 rupees. later i did follow up checkups for every month for 6 months, then every six months twice and final annual checkup. for others test I also spend around 20,000 rupees.
Recovering from mandibular cyst 1.2cm in right lower were wisdom tooth use to be. Surgery went well elected for anesthesia. Woke up right away 5 days post op still very painful did not fill bone said it would regenerate. Given pain medication and oral antibiotic. Still can't open jaw very much and having to ice. Biopsy sent will be back 2 weeks. Stitches, will disolve on own.
***** I'm getting that surgery as well but the treatment next is either: Get bone from your own rib cuz of its rich bone marrow to make the area of the cyst to become a solid bone again, Artificial bone which is a small container but expensive as hell, or get from other people's bones like... bones from people who already died but hard to time to find the matching bone which is best for me. I recommend the getting from your own rib even though it'll be painfull once you wake up
thanks Anders, excellent video and description. when accessing the simple bone cyst cavity and there is no lining,is the purpose of the procedure to simply curette the bone well and disinfect to stimulate bone fill in?or other purpose.and also is there is a high recurrence rate?thank you again, very much enjoyed this
I was so worried about the surgery before hand, but it's pretty much simple. I got a few injections, and the procedure was done within 1 hour. I did lose a 2 teeth unfortunately, but I don't have anymore pain.
I need to get this done, now I'm scared. I have already gone through the same process on my knee results from MRSA. I also have osteomyelitis in my toe going on. Same time
@@Rk.Anam6327 not so good. I keep thinking the best though. Just broke my hip. 98 % breakage is becoming a reality of which I still have not accepted. Any you I pray are doing well. Thank you for asking
Hi guys me husband did the same surgery yesterday , he broke his inner teeth suddenly when they discovered 2 cysts they took a biopsy and He is really worried about the result did you guys suffer any thing afterwards?
The surgeon didn't remove the bony cyst. He only drilled a small hole in the bony cyst. Now bacteria will collect inside the hole he drilled and this patient will have many more severe dental problems from the future infections.
Actually no. I feel almost nothing. The main pain is because of my swollen cheek, which is pressing against my teeth. And I can barely notice that either.
@@xvnbm yeah. I only felt pain for like 30 minutes after the pain med had worn off, then everything was good. Swelling wore off in about 3 days, but thr stitches took a bit longer
Umm why isn't calcium phosphate ceramics are used as bone graft substitutes for the mandible? is the mandible to thin or would it irritate the gums? or it's not practically used for this type of surgery?
So, you are minus a tooth then? Wouldn't have worked for my case as the lesion was wrapped 365 degrees around the trigeminal nerve and had to be removed piece by piece.
EXACTLY!!! The surgeon didn't remove the bony cyst. He only drilled a small hole in the bony cyst. Now bacteria will collect inside the hole he drilled and this patient will have many more severe dental problems from the future infections
Deividas Savickas this was actually a ‘’traumatic cyst’’..it has nothing to do with radicular cyst, because you saw it was empty... it benign, and usually it’s just exploration surgery. nothing scary
I know what a jaw removal is because my friends mother when she said cheeeez she had nothing on th bottom of her mouth our mouths dropped but I felt disappointed because she did that to her self ✌👎
