I'm trying the best Surinamese Food in Rotterdam, The Netherlands! I'm also exploring the link between Suriname and the Netherlands in general. From the culture, to the people, and everything else in between I'm exploring everything that the Surinamese people of Rotterdam have to offer. There is a huge Dutch connection between the people of Suriname and The Netherlands, and we are exploring all of it through the delicious food.

I lived in Rotterdam in the 90's and loved Surinaams food. The one go to place on the weekend was 100% WarungMini on the WItte De Wit straat for Moksi Meti or Soato soup. It was never dissapointing.

I was in Suriname for a week at a conference and every day we were served food from a different cuisine and culture. Even though I have some food allergies and couldn’t eat half of it, I never went hungry! The Indian and the Chinese cuisine I am most familiar with but the Javanese food was my favorite.

Wow. I really learned something new! Where has Surinamese food been? Being from NYC I've been exposed to various types of diverse cusines. I love Indian food, used to cook it. But the Surinamese Indian dishes has a different twist, plus the blend of African and other Asian influences. What a unique cuisine! I love liver too! But can you believe I really didn't like it growing up, lol

I watched all your dutch videos, you do such a good job of trying everything the dutch and the influences from other countries have to offer, surinam food is so crazy delicious, my favorite snack is the "surinaamse loempia" with some lovely hot sauce home made by the "lokale Tante or Oom" greetings from a dutchie 😁

I LOVE how everybody tells the heritage of the food, when i was small i never knew there weir also Indian/Indonisian/Chinese influences in Surinamese food, i thought it was only food from Afro Surinamese people, as i get older and research it i've learned this and now i'm learning even more, thanks

I've been following along for a while now and checking out Surinamese food in the Netherlands. What stands out to me is the creativity of our people there. In Suriname we tend to stick to books of how things were made. However in the Netherlands, they have so many different combinations of the same dishes that I wouldn't have thought to be possible. Like the Bara with the liver. Doing that in Suriname might get you some strange looks. Or the picalilly sauce, which is Suriname is more common in creole cuisine, but its mixed here with Indo-Surinamese food. It's amazing tbh. I will definitely try out these combos!

If you ever come back to the Netherlands go to Limburg its one of the most amazing provinces in the Netherlands and they have great food. Zuurvlees with patat/fries and vlaai is a must try when you come to the Netherlands. Zuurvlees with fresh Fries aspecially its my favourite dutch food as a Dutchman.
