Looks like a great trail! Beautiful! I’m in Ohio. Lots of muddy woods. I have the surly Wednesday and got it four years ago. I’ve ran hours of river beds and steep tight hill climbs and descents. As well as jumps and it’s great! I love it the most out of my bike. I have a couple that cost double and I still grab the surly.

Wow impressive , the scenery alone was outstanding not to mention the performance of the bike and the rider. Those uphill were taking my breath away. However the down hill is worth the climb !!! I was amazed at some of the terrain. I must say you have a nice Camera also . I look forward to the next outstanding video. I love this one.

Love the video!! Now this is my kind of riding......well the dirt and rock not the climbing so much LOL!! This video does make we want possibly flip from getting a Pugs to a more trail worthy Bike. I figure i will do more trails then Bike packing and I can do both with ICT. Once i get it wrapped in OD Green.

Do you find a need for shocks on a fat bike for downhill comfort over larger rock or dose the oversized tires make it unnecessary. I like how the maintenance on the bike and the weight would be less. I guess if it was aluminum you could add that and it still not be too heavy. Just wondering if it would even be necessary.
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 4 года назад
Andrew Hart I think for a lot of rougher riding the big tires do great. They soak up all the small stuff, even washboard extremely well. For ruts and rocks they still do a great job. I think the big improvement is traction and stability, traction is better than most full suspension bikes, even if you feel the terrain a little more in the rough stuff. My next video has a lot of rough stuff so check it out because I talk about a lot on this topic. Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Great vid! What tire pressures were you running?
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 4 года назад
Israel Magalit Honestly, I’m not sure. When I ride this bike in variable conditions I tend to air them up by feel, usually on the higher side of what a I think, and then once I get riding let out air as needed on the trail. I need to get a quality gauge and start tracking it. Thanks for stopping by!!!

In Morrison and suddenly got the urge for a fat bike. Of all the searching, Surly really resonated with me. I really like the new Pugs, but feel the ICT might be better in CO. Could the Pugs do this trail? It's about the technical range I'd be in. Would you be at a severe disadvantage with the Pugs or would that not happen until the trails got more severe? I'm 45, 6'2" and 240lbs. Seems like Pugs would be more comfortable. My mix would be about 60% tooling around with my 6 year old on street and snow and local paths, 20-30% doubletrack type places and paths, 10-20% single track trails in mild to medium range. Pugs or ICT?
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 4 года назад
Hi John, I think either bike would do well for you, but the ICT definitely has a little more trail geometry, and the Pugs is definitely more suited for long range touring. I think the Pugs is probably slightly more in line with the break down you described. The more upright position and smaller tires makes the Pugs better for general riding. I have a 2014 Pugs and that’s what I use it for. Good luck with your new bike and thanks for stopping by!!

ICT vs Wednesday??
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
I haven’t actually ridden a Wednesday yet, but it kinda splits the difference between the Pugs and the ICT. I already had an older Pugs, so the ICT made more sense for me, and I do like it’s option for bigger tires. It will depend on what your riding style and conditions are. Can’t really go wrong IMO. Thanks for watching!!!
@misaelramos83
@misaelramos83 3 года назад
@@ElevationEveryWeekend The difference in terms of geometry?
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
Pretty close, the ICT is about a degree slacker in head tube and seat tube angles, slightly longer chainstays (fits bigger tires) and longer overall wheel base. So the ICT would be a little more stable on downhill and rough trails. Again, not too drastic a difference
@richardthomas4112

@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
Hard to say as far as putting a number on it, but the ICT definitely gains momentum and carries speed going downhill. The superwide view on the GoPro also always makes things look faster IMO. Congrats on the new Ogre! New ICT coming in December so if you’re in the market be ready because they won’t last long! Thanks for watching!!

@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
@@JohnKrakatoa I know it won’t be Prickly Pear anymore. If you found a good used bike I would strongly consider it! If it’s powder blue then it’s one of the older “jump bar” bikes, but I love those. My Pugs is older and that style and it’s a great bike.

@@ElevationEveryWeekend what is a jump bar bike? this is the 2nd hand ICT bike bikemarkt.mtb-news.de/article/1428017-surly-ice-cream-truck-xl-jack-frost-blue
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
@@JohnKrakatoa The “jump bar” is that little gusset on the frame that goes from the top of the seat tube to the down tube. It’s the quickest way to identify the older ICT/Pugs frames, as the redesigned frames from the last few years don’t have it anymore. That ICT looks pretty good and clean. Looks like the wheels were swapped out.

Any bike can climb as long as you have the lower gears
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
I would say that’s largely true, however very steep, undulating terrain with loose rock such as this, traction can be the limiting factor. The torque multiplication of the gears can simply spin out the rear tire and then it’s over. This was really demonstrating that aspect, gearing combined with epic traction even though it’s a 35lbs fatbike!

Surly Ice Cream Truck, Trek Farley, or Specialized Fatboy for a heavy rider? I don't need the lightest bike, looking for the strongest to handle the most abuse... Suggestions?
@ElevationEveryWeekend
@ElevationEveryWeekend 3 года назад
Jason Owens Ultimately any of the three would probably do the job, but I’d be hard pressed to pick any bike over the Surly ICT for durability. I believe Trek rates most of their bikes to a 300lbs weight limit too, FYI. I have hammered my ICT on some really rough terrain and it feels extremely solid. Thanks for watching and good luck in your bike search!!
