Eddie's a good interviewer, too. He seems to have a knack for asking a question that opens up his conversational partner, then let them talk it through.
While he is a nice guy, I still think his prices are ridiculous. I would love to compare his suits to a reputable bespoke suit tailor from China at a 10th of the cost. After watching all of his suit making videos for the last year-and-a-half I feel like there's a lot of puffery in this industry. Just like anywhere else in the world they take your measurements and sew it together. But the suit is absolute amazing.
Love these long segments. No jump cuts or obnoxious music. The bespoke process is endlessly fascinating. Thank you for another well produced installment.
I visited the Davidoff store last week and saw Eddie rocking the final piece. OH MY GOD!!!!! What a suit!! Kirby you are a legend. Everyone stay tuned for the final fitting video, I can’t wait!
@@kirbyallisonI have never heard the words sartorial refinement but I know what it means because sartor means tailor in latin and sartorius is a muscle from the thigh. Don't get me wrong, but by 20 minutes of filming, I counted you say "you know" more than 30 times, while the other 2 said 3 or 4 times. You are a gentleman and I appreciate your content, so I think it would be appropriate to correct it. Thank you.
Eddie is so deserving of this. You are a very dear friend indeed. I m so much enjoying being a part of this journey for Eddie. Thank you Kirby for setting this up and letting us follow the path with you both.
Eddie is most deserving of a bespoke suit from Henry Poole & Co. The Sahakians are, as a family and operator, first glass professionals and gentlemen. Wanting only good fortune for them!
Oh, what a delight Kirby and of course Eddie. I've not seen this level of detail in tailorship before, I was a cabinetmaker for 25 years and know what it means to try and hit perfection. And what an incredible way to glorify the art of friendship. Well done on an informative and beautifully crafted and may I say important piece of documentation.
Just about to enjoy a nice Davidoff Belicoso after work when I get the notification for this video. What a polite gentleman Eddie is, you can see the gratitude
Yes! We’ve already filmed the second fitting, so all that is left is for me to get back to London for us to film the final fitting and delivery! How do you think we should celebrate the delivery??
I must say this is indeed a big step for Eddie and his first bespoke siut to celebrate with a good whisk and a good cigar And wanderfull chat that is the best way I think.
@@kirbyallisonhi Kirby I have been watching you're videos a long time now and love them all.youre children are so funny too.i purchased a tie and brace's from you just waiting for delivery.. for a suit I'm getting made a bespoke suit and coat made here in Ireland .I think yee should go to a museum not sure which one where they might have some history on suits and overcoats .ps you inspired me on getting a suit and coat like what you wear .
Dear Kirby, I wanted to thank you for your videos. I found your channel through my interest in cigars. And till now, I binged all of your videos helped me to change myself in a better way, I threw away all my clothes, got new clothes, changed my behavior more and more to one of a gentleman. And I love how you help your friend Eddie with his bespoke experience. Thank you, Kirby, from the bottom of my heart. I love your work, pleas keep it going.
Wow! I am impressed! Eddie looked fantastic in his first fitting. My sincere compliments to Henry Poole, Simon, Tom {Donatello}, and of course Kirby. Well done, gentlemen, and thank you for allowing me to experience and share in this. Eddie is a gem about to shine even more, so brilliantly..
I picked Tom up in my Black Cab this morning from Greenwich in London.. Lovely bloke. Tom if you see this was going to mention about Kirby and his channel and how I enjoy it.
I always love the tailors eye and attention to detail. I have no clue what he see's but he and all of them look at it and see whatever it is, exacting.
Thank you for this in depth video. Great that you showed so much of the fitting. And Tom is a great cutter. I love working together with him on my projects. Thank you for showing the world what great work they do at Henry Poole 👌
I remember my oldest son getting his first bespoke suit at 19. It was such a special occasion and moment for him and I. I have to admit I shed a tear or two in the privacy of my car. Your first fitting is a rite of of passage. Your first bespoke suit, shirt is a rite of passage and needs to be treated as such. A man’s attire,a woman’s attire tells you a story if you know how to read it. Some people you need to talk to, to understand who they are and where they come from. Others you simply need to watch, observe their garments and you know more than enough.
So happy to see Eddie this happy. A bloke I've never even met but feel like I know. He's so sincere and nice. Looking forward to visit his cigar shop in London.
Yourself, Eddie and Edward are some of my favourite people to watch and listen to, class and elegance always, I aspire to be more like you three in the way I speak and act.
As always timing is impeccable. The more videos I see with Eddie the more I can learn from him especially in the art of conversation. Had a fitting for a made to measure suit in recent days and yes the feel of the garments compared to off the rack is far superior. Look forward to the next few videos. As for how to celebrate the delivery a visit to a Castle for afternoon tea with a game of Cricket or Polo would be nice.
I don't know how they pick out the intro music to these episodes, but, it's perfection! Kirby I've been watching your channel for I don't know how many years now, and the production quality has gone from like a 10 to a 20 in my eyes - we come for the great content but it really shows how much you care for what you do by pushing the quality to be better and better, when you think it can't get any better, you do it again. Take care my friend, and to many more years of great content! (and maybe someday share a cigar with you and a conversation)
Kirby I really love your suit from Divij. This series was a great idea. I like when Eddie asks questions. he's new to the process and we get to see what the "common" man cares about....in comparison to our favorite host; Kirby's a pro. We also get a fresh set of preferences. I already know what Kirby likes in his suit.
This video serves as an excellent introduction to what a man should look for in the appearance of a good quality suit. Too often, men get no guidance, and the shop boy can be clueless too, especially when these days so many buy a first suit only for an important occasion such as a wedding.
Another great episode in this fantastic series. I am as excited for Eddie as I am for the rest of us to be able to watch the full bespoke journey. Also, I do love that Poole/Davidoff green!
Wonderfull to see Eddie being sculpted so well.... such a shame we don't have these craftsman in every town and city as they were in the past. Might have to nip up to the 'Smoke' over the summer to visit these fantastic places.
@@kirbyallison Indeed, society changed, style changed, bigger retailers could see more money for themselves with OTP. The cost is sadly prohibitive for 99% of the UK's population with so few now trained to do this wonderful work. I have to make do with used pieces and my trusty sewing machine... and local alteration shops for the difficult bits. Brilliant to see what can be done though. thanks
Incredible opportunity to see how a little adjustment can make when you have a true craftsman doing there craft. The information you have given is absolutely incredible thank you for sharing
I'm experiencing this vicariously through Eddie, since I live in the Midwest of the US. While the cost of a bespoke suit itself isn't out of the question, the travel in addition to the cost probably means I won't be able to ever get the experience myself. What a wonderful gesture.
As a true fan of the English culture, I'm surprised you have never thought of doing a country cricket match. English wear, English willow handmade bats, English tea etc etc. That would be a special video
Agreed. Given how much Kirby likes the British culture, Royal Family etc I'm surprised the game of Cricket has been missing this far. I'm sure that will be resolved soon though
This video is one of my all time favorites. Eddie and Kirby are great together. I never in a million years would have thought how much goes into the process of a suit. Some day I have to do this. Thanks for sharing. Absolutely the best content.
Have been hoping this would happen. What a wonderful mark of friends and respect. Thank you Kirby, and as always seeing you and Eddie together is a treat.
TBH, I’d love to have a suit made from the r same material! Only question I’d have trouble answering is wether I could have a single or double breasted suit made out of it! What do you think?
I've been eagerly awaiting this follow-up video. So happy I discovered your channel. A class act all the way! Now I can't wait to see the finished product!
I've been with you almost from the very beginning. I've enjoyed exploring the possibilities of living the dream. I'm anticipating my first trip to London and visit the places that I have been in your videos.
Lovely video, it always lights up my day when I see Eddie on this channel :) But to be honest - fashionwise they are still in the 80s. The cuts look like my grandfathers - a little bit sad. There are such nice "gentlemanly" and oldschool suits but there doesnt have to be 10cm of cloth on your ankle for example.
