I love that he introduced himself by simply giving his name and Country without talking about himself with arrogance and pride. He was SO polite and well spoken! 👏 👏 👏 ❤
@@AB-nk5wv I think Simon held back, because he knew Ellen tends to purposefully embarrass ppl. I do think he probably greeted Psy accordingly when the cameras were off.
"Let me, by the way, Can I introduce myself? Not just dancing. I'm PSY from Korea. How are you?" How classy he was! Shame on you, Ellen! And I don't even want to mention that how rude Simon was..
What do u want Simon to do? Go and kneel to him for ex? He said "he is amazing." I dont see it as rude.. You worship Koreans, do u want all people to worship them?
@@SBansal-IITD oh plzz we asians knw how to respect guests...he would have just stood up...its called proper respectful greeting if he comes to him and just do a handshake or namaste depending upon their culture
I find it very wholesome that Psy introduced himself to the audience and didnt just assume everybody knew him despite his video having more than a billion views. Respect.
Britney and Psy were wonderful. I can’t believe Britney was star struck. I would be speechless next to her and Psy. I wish them both success because they are amazing.
I loved Psy's attitude. he said" May I introduce myself?" . Ellen was disrespectful to him because she did not introduce him . Even if Americans think that they are better , they should mind their manners
Nonsense. The entire first 2 minutes of the clip are Ellen introducing him to everyone by explaining who he is, and what he does, and showing a clip of his music video. It would have been superfluous for her to have him come out and then repeat all of that.
I was so embarrassed about Psy not being properly welcomed and introduced as more than a dance instructor. He is a hugely popular performer. Sad. Ellen usually does better. Sorry Psy. Thank you for being so gracious.
torontothegood yes she did, but I work with a lot of Koreans at my job and it is custom to them to introduce themselves and usually (at least with the group here at my work ) you don't typically shake their hand, you stand face to face and give a slight bow literally like 15 degree still making face contact. If the person is more elderly you bow with more of an angle. etc etc. Probably didn't explain it the best but anyway.. . I saw him start to do that but everybody started reaching hands which is what WE are accustomed to.
Psy's english improved TREMENDOUSLY over the course of three years. I kinda felt a bit sorry that he actually had to ask to be introduced, wish Ellen didn't just treat him like some fun clown dance instructor. The man's a pretty talented music artiste, even though his music isn't actually my cup of tea
Funkenstein When did she introduce him? All Ellen did was say "Psy come on out!" and they proceeded to make him their dance instructor. Unless you consider Ellen commenting on the music video to be an introduction? There are proper introductions to be made if you bring a guest onto your show, and that's not how you do it.
Funkenstein Uhh. Is that how you introduce a friend of yours to someone else who wants to know/him or her? Or are you completely new to the concept of talk shows? Ellen traditionally introduces any other guest like "Our next guest is an actor/performer from so and so who's done etc etc." Seeing as how Psy's immensely successful and became a worldwide phenomenon, do you really think it's appropriate to not make any proper mention of the man?
+Mikhail Kalashnikov Let's test that, shall we! watch?v=Y5ZvL_Q0vLw Gosh golly, neither guest is introduced here even after the surprise reveal, with the closest thing being Jennifer's first name during the conversation. Everyone knew who he was, she did in fact introduce him and even fawned over him, and the only person bitching about it is you. Even Psy wasn't bitching about it, he just clearly missed the intro. Edit: No idea how to link a video in these stupid ass comments. I'm sure being the genius you believe yourself to be, you can figure out how to view the intended clip.
1:34 omg he handled this so gracefully... because Britney was dressed so elegantly, so he had to say that she fit the theme perfectly as a compliment, and just made that phrase 'dress classy dance cheesy' up on the spot. sidenote, he really appreciates women, i love that about him actually. I know it comes out as pervy sometimes but i think he's probably very respectful too.
@@minajdm4343 Yes lol, even though she was not able to fully execute the moves due to her heels and tight dress, she still got the correct sequence down. It's only natural to be a fast learner when you've been dancing since childhood.
I love how PSY was talking directly to Britney. He needed to introduce himself, but he strictly was teaching Britney the dance, and she learned it right away because she's a true professional lol
Ellen never treats Asian guests with respect. She fails to introduce them properly, comments that she cant identify them because they changed their hair style and asks meaningless questions on their dating life that everyone knows they are not allowed to talk about. Psy's Gangnam style broke international records and he was super sweet here wanting to introduce himself. Learn manners, Ellen.
PSY: "Can I... Can I introduce myself?" Cultural shock! Kpop fans may have noticed it already, but everytime a Kpop group or solo goes on a stage, they first introduce theirselves and then they dance or do whatever they're supose to do on the show. So, everytime I see this clip I get those "cultural shock" vibes coming from PSY.
I thought Ellen introduces everyone of her guests and simply forgot to do it this time and he remembered it's polite to introduce yourself. I know about the introduction custom and introducing yourself isn't seen as too important in the west, but I'm not sure this was the case here.
But she kind of introduced him. I mean, she said "Psy, coming in" and they were already talking about him before. So i just think that him was actually really sweet for doing that, i dont see it like he was teasin in some way
bc you said "simply forgot to do it this time and he remembered it's polite to introduce yourself", i'm not saying you said with ths meaning, i just couldnt find the right word tho, dont get me wrong
@@sbland088 So? You don't call a foreign guest out and proceed directly to ask them to do something for you - you LET THEM SPEAK first. They are not your staff. Common sense. Try to use it when with foreigners not just your own people. Thanks.
well Ellen just behaved him like a famous celebrity that doesn't need introduction cause she always introduces her foreign guests! So actually it was a nice behavior to him as american celebs never come to Ellen show introducing themselves! How some people became snowflakes crying about every thing seriously!! It's not a Korean tv show that every single time their artists show up they introduce themselves to people who already know them!!
YOOO I have a conspiracy theory about jhope being psy’s son (I mean probably not but whatever lol) because they’re so alike and -they kind of look alike how their cheekbones and mouth are -they’re both hilarious -they dAnce amAzing ksbxka -obviously both in the kpop industry -talented af -and more So I guess u could say jhope gOt iT frOm hiS dAdDY sjxjsndn lololol
@@poprox8169 I love this theory xDDDD!!! they are also probably the most charismatic stars from korea too, J-Hope is very loved, especially in America :)))
Psy is a gentleman, extremely talented and equally personable. He sends out very likeable vibes. Britney was sweet and humble. The other two aren't even worth a mention.
Oh so were all the same person everyone in the usa is bad to foreign people? You my sir, are racist. That's like asking a Mexican where his sombrero, lawnmower, and burrito are.
He isn't entirely anti-American. He just, like most countries doesn't agree with our foreign policy which is to act like an empire and set up bases fricken everywhere. When was the last time you came across a British air base in the U.S? Lol
PSY is the definition of classy . All others in the room seem uncomfortable , even Ellen looked hesitating while PSY back in 2012 when Kpop was not even properly acknowledged by these western people seemed so comfortable and confident. He's like when i'm in its my show i don't care who the F you are . He is definitely the GOAT.
Beautiful Life how are they random people just because britney is more known than them? kpop idols are TRAINED to dance in the tightest of outfits paired with heels, and they’re expected to nail it. that’s just a fact, and it has nothing to do with how well-known they are globally.
PSY was the only one who seemed very professional. Simon as usual such an arrogant unprofessional guy. Britney wishes like she wasn't there to learn the dance. So awkward like all of them except PSY.
Khadi Haramain During the xfactor and femme fatale album times, Britney was probably forced to do most of the things, she obviously didnt want any of that to happen, the woman needed rest :( she looks so much better and more outgoing now tho:)
I think this is a good example showing how different american culture is with asian cultures. Asians are typically very formal and polite in public whereas americans are more laid back and can be however they want. Not that either one is good or bad, im asian and american so lol just different.
Did you see how he bowed to Brittany when he met her? So lovely, polite, and respectful. I mean...I understand that bowing is not done in Western cultures, so I imagine he doesn't usually bow to Western folks, but, I don't know, it was like it was just an automatic thing there with him, which was sweet - he was showing respect.
In Korea, whenever entertainers appear on a show, they always introduce themselves. Because some people don't know the entertainer. Maybe don't think so in the West. Think of it as a culture. For your information, I am Korean.
Juan Vazquez I'm sorry. I can't understand you even though I used a translator. I guess it's because I'm Korean and I'm not good at English. Can you tell me that again easily?
Psy shakes Britney's hand as she wanted learn dance and came across as most genuine. Psy and Si ignored each other and Ellen got blanked for being Ellen. 😂
